Hey I ordered a link from focusattack just last Friday, will I be getting a new version without the deadzones or no? I didn’t know about this before ordering it.
You will be getting the same version I’ve been sending out for a couple of months now. Technically yes there is a slightly enhanced deadzone, but most people don’t notice it, or if they do they either get used to it quickly or throw in a tighter spring to help accommodate. Even had a few customers prefer this feel over the stock JLF.
Try it out, if you truly don’t like it you can return it to FA I suppose but it’s part of the reason I’m having Rosser cook up this hotfix until I can remake the bases.
I got my link in the mail 2 days ago but haven’t been able to try it cause 2 of the bolts on the top panel of my TE are stripped and I can’t get them off
You can take the bottom metal panel off and get to the joystick that way
I can’t unmount the stick and remove the inner dustwasher from the bottom cause my screwdrivers are whack. I’m just gonna visit the hardware store tomorrow and buy a pvc cutter to turn the bolts into slot screws.
I finally got around to installing my link yesterday. I can feel the difference but it doesn’t affect my play so it’s all good.
Any chance I can purchase two white Links to be shipped to Tokyo? How much for shipping too :] thanks
I guess your not making it to Evo…
Are they only available at EVO ?
No focusattack offers the non-colored version and Clayton will be offering the color verrents I’m working on 100 of them as we speak
ahh so how do I order two white ones then? :]
He means that for now you cannot order them currently unless you attend EVO. I’m waiting until after EVO to begin offering powder coated units.
Once EVO is over you can expect to see them available though, so keep your eyes on this thread or my facebook page/twitter!
I am waiting as well. they look really good, and i want to get a green/purple scheme for a tira stick ive been putting on hold. the powder coats look drop dead gorgeous. I’ve been considering buying some but now ill just wait until they’re available in colors.
oh alright that’s understandable. thank you!
Just a head’s up. I opened my site for orders of EVO Blue colored links. It will only be available until Sunday night!
Yo whoever it was that gave me the new version of the link with the powder coat for a reduced deadzone, thanks a lot man!
I don’t know if anyone had a similar issue. But I had a problem with the dust cover getting caught on the shaft when i’d be playing. To fix that issue, I put a small piece of electrical tape near the top of the shaft, right under the first bevel. Since the circumference of the shaft is really close to the dust cover hole, it can fit under the tape and won’t go up or down past the tape.
A permanent fix would be to widen the circumference of the link as it got closer to the first bevel so the dust cover couldn’t travel too far up the shaft.
I’ve actually noticed a similar problem myself. It’s especially bad with diagonals. If you push the joystick in a diagonal direction, the dust cover will pop up. It’s as 3nigmat1c said, the diameter of the Link’s shaft that touches the dust washer is too close to the diameter of the dust washer’s hole. I don’t think it would be a good idea to put a “ring” right above where the dust washer since if you move the Link, that ring would probably put pressure on the washer and would make it do strange things or even break.
I think the problem would be solved if either the Link shaft was thinner, if the Link came with its own custom dust washer that has a slightly larger center hole than a standard JLF one, or if the Link’s shaft portion was redesigned to taper slightly in a cone shape, just like the Sanwa JLF shaft cover. For now, it’s a minor inconvenience since I just take the dust washer off when I’m playing, and put it back on when I’m not using my Link. I’ll probably look into a more permanent solution this weekend involving a Dremel.
