Well, in this game, its actually not really possible to safe jump someone after a hard knockdown guarenteed, because they can ALWAYS forward roll. i’m sure you could get yourself in the position to safe jump someone from the breakdance, but theres no guarentee it will actually work considering they can forward roll. But…Hrm…I sorta had an idea…maybe if i can OS a shooting star from a safe jump off of the breakdance to follow the forward roll…Gonna go into the lab now heh.

I also tested back layout. Yes the timing is step forward, rain dance and then back layout. Its a pretty tricky cross up, but two things make it impractical:
- The dreaded forward roll. They can roll out of this setup with ease. most people will be looking to forward roll after anyhow so, womp.
- If they do know of this gimmick, and happen to block it, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye because a blocked back layout pretty much means you’re gonna die seeing how it leaves you in back turn.
Conclusion: Its a cute gimmick, and pretty sick if can land it, but otherwise pretty impractical and dangerous.

So for the safe jump, did you take a step back, back dash, then step forward before jumping?
Nah, I cancelled the stance then immediately backdashed, then took a step forward.
I’ll start implementing that, because if you can cross them up, with one bar you can set up another breakdance combo mid screen.

wait wait wait, how can you determine whats a high and low launcher?
to be honest, i’m not entirely sure if it has to do with “height” either. but perhaps you’ve heard of run cancelling? it seems that some launchers simply allow more time to combo from than others. for example, if you connect a launch with julia, vega won’t be able to land his df.HK. but if you try the same thing with xiaoyu’s launcher, it will definitely work.
likewise, if you connect xiaoyu’s launcher on block and switch cancel it, you’ll find that the character coming in can cancel his/her run animation with a move much earlier compared to julia’s launcher (making the launcher much safer on block).
