I was actually in the thick of reading this very same argument on Gaf before I had to go into work (started around this page). Both sides had points (and stupidity) on it.
Personally I love OoT’s music as is… but I da know it couldn’t hurt to have…more. I wasn’t expecting them to like completely go back and remix the music in any shape or form I just would have liked the music updated by even just a tad especially since I believe music is one of the most if not the important parts of this game.
At the same time though I can also see how it might be better to just leave it as is. I mean people are already nitpicking the hell out of just about everything they’re seeing through screen shots and what little clear gameplay videos we have (‘I don’t like this yellow hue’). I’m sure if Grezzo messed up the music they’d earn some horrible hate for it.
Okami was great and better in a lot of ways, but Okami DID NOT know when to end. After the one millionth digging game, LORD…
Just me I was able to think around and solve puzzles in TP a lot easier, Okami had going out of mind insane a bunch of times… And not in the way that’s fun, just frustrating. Arguably this probably has more to do with me playing Zelda games going way back to the first one. Haven’t tried Okamiden just yet but will probably get around to it later this year.
Still I think Okami is a better game pound for pound, but I enjoyed TP a little more for different reasons.
I liked Twilight Princess, but I wasn’t in love with it. The main problem for me was that it was coming out in a time where games of a similar nature were having higher production values and a larger scope than TP and in reality was more of a late entry GC game than a Wii-level entry game. A lot of it reeks of last gen, bu I think what disappointed me the most was the whole Wolf aspect of the game. It truly felt like the hugest “filler content” I’ve ever played in any video game. It wasn’t really interesting and the fact you had to kill a bunch of enemies just to unlock the first area for the temple just bored me to death. Aside from that a lot of the dungeons were uninteresting and some of the fun aspects of exploring the world is lost because it’s just side quests for a larger wallet or a bug collection rather than actual items.
That’s what I liked about LTTP, that you found at least 2-4 items or upgrades outside of the regular dungeon progression. It gave a certain reward motivation for your exploration but now…it’s just all fucking pieces of hearts which IMHO I don’t need.
also, on skyward sword. nintendo seems to be trying to change things up a lot and innovate zelda, something they haven’t done a whole lot of since the series’ first game. i think this is great, but i’m a little worried it won’t feel like zelda anymore. what do you guys think?
anywho I think im going to pass on OOT3D, it is just not enough…as I do not want to just go in and rape the game in six hours or something but this is good for people who have never played it before or are new to the series
I knew about the music shifting from regular to battle in the hyrule field areas but I never noticed it had a quiet mode. I’ve heard the music before but it wasn’t too long before I was off doing something. Mahito Yokota was also actually going to rearrange new music for this game but Kondo came in and ‘upended the tea table’ on him. Yokota and his team basically remade all of the music on purpose to sound like the N64 versions but with better quality. He did put in one orchestrated piece though but didn’t say what it was.
Yokota also confirmed he was orchestrating the music for Skyward Sword in this and also mentioned that you’ll be taking double damage in the Master’s Quest. Holy Sweet Jesus…DON’T LET GANON TOUCH YOU.
Someone really goofed on this and mixed up a lot of the links but this was a really good read.
OoT releases Sunday. I’m buying my 3DS either sometime this week or on Sunday come hell or high water.
Legend of Zelda OoT 3DS - inside TV commercial
pretty pimpin commercial if you haven’t seen it on tv already. Seriously though…the thought of Majora’s Mask in 3D is creeping me out. It’s bad enough to have that moon staring down on you 24/7 but having it remade in 3D…

Confused about the zelda timeline? This video probably won’t help…but it tries too.
