The Legend of Zelda thread - Ganon's bodyshop will be open for business on Nov. 20th

I’ve read some suggestions that Lana is supposed to represent Nayru. (Lana + Nayru = Lanayru.) Plus, the blue hair and barrier magic (Nayru’s Love)

Lana trailer made me feel funny. :X

Lana reminds me of Xiao Qiao…hope she doesn’t talk as much.
Otherwise…her moveset is AMAZING.

God i am so turned on right now.

Egoraptor finally put up his sequelitis video of ALttP vs. OOT. It’s about 30 minutes long and I just started watching it.

When he talks off the cuff outside these videos I generally don’t like what he has to say but when he sits down and really works it out he’s right on the money.

It’s pretty much amazing.

Wow that was like the most nitpicking thing I’ve ever watched. Sure a lot of his complaints wouldn’t be acceptable for a more modern game, but that doesn’t stop those games from being great in their own time.

He’s right though Zelda is intended and works best as a game about combat and exploration

Not about puzzles and story

I will need to watch this video when I get home…will retain blood lust until I see it.

It’s not really nitpicking. I’ve always felt the same way about the Zelda series but I’ve never been able to word it accordingly. It’s why I’ve always preferred the handheld top/down Zelda’s as opposed to the console Zelda’s. They force exploration and intuitive combat.

Great for its time is kinda shitty.

Good games are good games are good games.

He makes some good points, but I think some of his rants stems from a lack of patience more than anything.

Never heard of that guy, not gonna watch a 30 minute video when youtube personalities that talk about video games are a dime a dozen.

I did watch the Hyrule Warriors video however. That original character’s design is about as generic as you can get. It’s like someone at Tecmo Koei stitched her together using an anime character creator. Moveset looks pretty awesome though. Excellent for crowd clearing trash mobs. That’s all that matters.

It’s a good video. There’s a lot of good points in there, and there’s a lot of nit picky shit. It goes both ways. Dude spends a good deal of time whining about a gate blocking his path to Death Mountain in OOT but never addresses that alttp does the EXACT SAME THING for the EXACT SAME LOCATION. You can’t get to death mountain till you have the glove that can move the rock blocking the door att the base of the mountain :/. There’s some other examples but that one stood out for me. I also thought it was strange that he talks about the joy of finding a boss key and running back to the big chest in alttp but never adresses that OOT uses boss keys that open big chests that give you a cool item :/. I guess he forgot during the apparently excruciating 5 seconds it takes for the chest to open.

At the same time he’s right about the combat, there is a lot of waiting, it’s not anywhere near as aggressive as it should be, and this series should have had a jump button a long time ago. He’s right no one likes Navi or Fi (Well I like Fi, but she does have the same problems Navi has) so on and so fourth.

I’m kind of sad he didn’t actually address Skyward Sword at all, he just raged in an obnoxious manner, but hey that’s Ego Raptor, comes with the territory I guess.

I don’t agree, the context and time that something was made matters, some stuff ages better then others, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great experience for it’s time.

I definitely agree about there being waaaay too many unnecessary stopping points OoT, it might be the main reason I enjoy the first 3 zelda games the most out of the ones I’ve played. The first Zelda being my favorite of course.

I will admit though, he does say some questionable things on gamegrumps that I highly disagree with, so it’s nice to see him post a video about something I mostly agree with after a long time.

I thought it was weird he blasted right over Zelda II.

There was a Zelda 2?

Spoiler

Kidding, that game is an underrated gem imo

It really is.

Shit I think it’s still a good game to this day. Just not perfect as it once was. Most of it’s problems stem from stuff that was the norm from that generation. It’s like knocking an old film for it’s dated cinematography and camera techniques compared to films from today. It’s kind of unfair since it was the first 3D game in the series and therefore a little primitive by today’s standards.
