The Legend of Zelda thread - Ganon's bodyshop will be open for business on Nov. 20th

Aonuma dropped what is probably the 2nd-3rd hint that this game is going to have some sort of relation to Majora’s Mask

Speculation is that Lorule is in some way Termina or vice versa.

I actually got a swap note from Aonuma on my 3DS today. Twas kinda cool.

Not sure if this was posted before but just in case it wasn’t: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/14/the-legend-of-zelda-franchise-considering-the-use-of-dlc

I never thought about LoZ getting DLC before, but it’s an awesome idea. first off Nintendo is one of the few companies who make quality DLC at fair prices and secondly DLC like extra dungeons or side stories would ease the wait for the next LoZ.

And really, who the fuck could argue with more LoZ?

If they could give me a Second Quest DLC I would buy it.

OH yeah…i just remembered that hero mode got confirmed to be in ALBW
http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/higher-difficulty-mode-unlocks-in-a-link-between-worlds-after-initial-playt

It won’t be unlocked from the start through unfortunately.

Nintendo…guys…let us Hero Mode it out right from theget go.

I mean I’m normally one to start on Normal and work my way up but Zelda games on the default these days are piss easy. Please let me up the diff right off the bat.

Playing Skyward Sword and Wind Waker on Hero Mode makes you realize how much you had come to rely on blades of grass in those games for hearts. It actually gives you a reason to consider purchasing a potion at the start of the games if you don’t feel like going out of your way to a fairy fountain. I want Hero Mode for the Wii U game to eliminate random fairies out in the wild to see how that works out.

Yeah, Nintendo is very protective the LoZ IP and doesn’t whore it out like they do Mario so it’s not like Nintendo will turn into Capcommwith that shit. Aonuma’s words make me think it’s very likely we’ll get DLC and it won’t be some bullshit 5 minute quest for $20.

I’m curious how Aonuma can add a significant amount of content to ALBW without hurting the main story, like introducing a new villain would be kind of messy.

I started playing WWHD on Hero Mode, and now I’m playing it like Dark Souls. I always keep my shield out, and I act after the enemy attacks. I just need to get some potions now.

Some reviews are coming in now. Sounds like it’s one of the best Zeldas. They love the dungeons, the new wall ability and being able to get the weapons whenever you wish. They also remarked how they were surprised how fresh the game felt despite the LTTP throwback elements. GT actually gave it a 9.8. I don’t think I’ve seen a higher score from them.

Is Gamestop the only place with a pre-order bonus?

Metacritic is at 91 with mostly very high reviews, including at least 8 100s. The only review lower than 80 is Destructoid, who gave it a 65 for some reason. I haven’t read their review yet, but I don’t really give a shit anyway. I am 99.99 percent sure I will love this game.

When critics give praise to games SRK is excited for everyone is like “See look everyone likes it it must be a good game!”, but when they give other games SRK hates high scores or games SRK loves low scores then critics aren’t worth paying attention to.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd now here come all the “I’m not like that, I’ve never cared about what critics say” posts.

Just preordered. I’m so fucking ready. I recently reaplayed ALTTP on the GBA to play the four sword temple, and it reminded me how much I love that version of Hyrule. CAN’T WAIT!

I’m not like that, I’ve never cared about what critics say.

I still don’t give a fuck what a critic says, if I’m digging it from the moment they announce I’ll probably pick it up. After all it’s Zelda, you REALLY cannot go wrong with it.

both professional and amateur critics generally play hundreds of games a year or at least many more than most gamers so it takes more for a game to stand out to them making them have higher standards than most gamers, kind of like how hospital workers are unphased by gruesome injuries because they see them everyday so it takes something really fucked up to provoke a strong reaction. Or at least that’s how critics are supposed to work in theory, in this era of handing out 8’s and 9’s like candy on Halloween and rampant lack of both fact checking and understanding before putting out a review we all know gaming criticism on the whole falls far short of it’s ideal.

That being said I still do care about what both professional and amateur critics have to say if only because when they do their job correctly their intelligently articulated thoughts are a lot more pleasurable to read then random forum member#2309456 saying “diz game wuz gud cuz i sed so”. It bothers me how their seem to only be 2 camps when it comes to game criticism: Those who stereotype and lump all critics as corrupt propoganda or those who take a critic’s word for gospel, the former is found in abundance on SRK while the latter is found in abundance on game review site’s comment sections.

Why can’t more gamers be like me and take critic reviews with a grain of salt? Gamers always jump to extreme ends of the spectrum especially on SRK I find myself so philosphically distanced from the vast majority of you guys.

I find it funny that both camps have the same fucking problem. They only care about the number at the end of the review instead of the body of the review itself.

Shits silly as fuck.

GT posted a video showing a couple of references to past Zelda games present in the new game

Thing is I don’t place arbitrary numbers on things I like such as games/movies/places. The critics I have liked don’t places numbers on their reviews they just tell you what you’re getting into regarding the the product they choose to go over. Also things is generalizing reviews I understand is what they do because they simply need to go over dozens possibly hundreds of products every year which is why I get the numbers they place on something to help simplify a review.

I take in if anything user submitted reviews, and not the one sentence answers. Be it Amazon/rotten/or even here, I prefer those that paly it for the passion of games, not just the ones doing it for the masses who are also paid to do so. Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation is one of my liked reviewers. no numbers, just tell it like it is, if a bit more humorous and exaggerated at times.
