I read a blog on Giant Bomb that pointed out the similarities between Zelda and DS, and I agree. I’m guessing we won’t see anything on Zelda U until at least the end of this year. I hope that “back to basics” includes not only the overworld map design, but also the dungeon design.
DS being on the WiiU would be great, it’s on every other platform anyway.
Though I wasn’t expecting the wildly underrated Legend of Zelda syndicated cartoon to get so much as a mention in Hyrule Historia, its absence is still disappointing.
But despite that and the fact I’ve fallen out of love with Zelda, Historia is still a great book. Recommended.

I don’t think it’s so much favoring as much as Nintendo has been around for a long time and they have a lot of games that have little things like these in them…especially back then.

I’ve thought about something…It’d would be kind of cool if WWHD could pull a Halo CE AE where they can have it switch it back and forth. That way the people who aren’t exactly enamoured with the the makeover can play the original just upresed in HD. The only unfortunate thing about this and why I’m fairly certain it won’t work in this instance is because of the supposed ‘gameplay tweaks’ that are being made to the game. It’s really going to depend on that I believe. Halo CE AE IIRC just took the new graphics and laid it over top of the old game sort of like a blanket. If the gameplay changes for WWHD are extensive then they’d pretty much have to do the gameplay tweaks for both versions of the game…It’d definitely be nice if Nintendo wanted to go that far but I doubt it. That’s especially if ‘gameplay tweaks’ has anything to do with adding elements that were cut out of the game.
That was interesting! Quite a bit of work went into loot drops. I thought it was just random. I wonder if the other games have similar loot drop methods.
I fucking hate Nintendo.
At least I’m supposed to.
But how can I hate on LINK TO THE PAST 2?
Every time you want to hate Nintendo they go and pull a move like this to make you love them again… I think Penny Arcade made a comic about this years ago.
A LINK TO THE PAST 2!! Fuck yeah!
Please don’t be stylus control. PLEASE don’t be stylus. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t be stylus control.
Dammit. I might have to buy a 3DS if this turns out well. Freaking love Link to the Past and it was the first game I owned.
There should be more arguing on this board…
- Wind Waker
- Majora’s Mask
- Twilight Princess
- OoT
- Minish Cap
- Oracles
- LttP
- Spirit Tracks
Fuck you, stylus combat is sexy, although yeah making it the only movement option is shitty. Anyways I’m fucking over the moon on this one from the game play shown, I have full confidence this will be leaps and bounds better than Phantom Hourglass which I loved but had issues with obviously.
Also this should be n OP: http://punchkickgame.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/for-the-last-time-zelda-is-not-an-rpg/
Are they doing a collector’s edition of the Windwaker game, too, or just the guide?
Damn, Skyward Sword not even on the list. I had issues with SS but I’m not that cold-blooded to exclude it entirely from a tier list.
TBH I barely remember enough of all the Zelda games to make my own list but from what I can recall I say TP > SS… yes I can only remember enough from the last two 3D Zelda games… and by things to remember I’m talking about more specific aspects like the side quests, npc dialogue, dungeon layout and puzzle design, the combat, overworld traversal, the overall scope of the world and the implementation of sub-weapons.
Id like a full 3d remake of link’s awakening but maybe im alone
For the longest time the fight between best Zelda of all time was between OoT and ALttP but now Majora’s Mask fans and Link’s Awakening fans have been stepping out. Enjoyment of Skyward Sword seems to be completely dependent on if you able to enjoy the motion controls. I’m in the camp that loved the hell out of that game. More concrete placement of SS on tiers won’t come until later since Zelda fans have now gone into their own little ‘cycle’.
If I’d have to choose a Zelda that would be at the bottom of the pile out of what I’ve played…it’d probably unfortunately have to be Spirit Tracks. Touch controls for the boomerang and were good ideas and sword swipping with the stylus is give and take. Zelda taking a more active helping role for this game was a nice change of pace. I didn’t have as much trouble as most with the flute but I could still tell it was flawed. I like trains but being tied to a railroad system was a bit more restrictive in comparison to mapping out your course or even just wandering around in an overworld.
I need to make a new subtitle for the thread that references both Wind Waker and ALttP…any ideas? So far I’m thinking ‘Sailing the seas in HD while Linking to the past in 3D’
A Link to the high seas HD? A Link to the Wind Waker 2…in HD?.. or finally Wind Waker to Link’s Past
I prefered LA’s to Alttp because the characters where better which made the overall gameplay fun
I’ve beaten all zelda’s except 2, TP, SS, and Spirit Tracks. That being said my list bitches:
1.OoT
2.LttP
3.Oracle (Seasons is definitely the better of the 2)
4.LoZ
5.MM
6.MC
7.WW
9.LADX
10.PH
11.FS
