A no heart piece/container run on Hero mode? You do know that means two-shotting will happen frequently towards the end, yes? I mean, there’s also the one-shotting from the final boss there, but he wasn’t exactly difficult.
I can’t imagine the hell that would be… maybe if it wasn’t Wiimote controlled…
EDIT: While I’m surprised at all the Zelda 2 love, I’m even more surprised at all the TP hate. What is so wrong with that game? The only thing I can think of is the reverse thoughts I have: “…I could be playing OoT.” and bitching about it based on that. Any other reason? Or should I just tell you all to take off your damn nostalgia goggles?
Didn’t see the vid yet and stuff but the way I interpret things, when Link pulled the Master Sword he disappeared from the timeline completely. The world went as it was with Link vanishing, so the Sages had to act without Link to seal Ganon and the Triforce and that lead to the events of a Link To The Past. So it’s not so much that Link was defeated by Ganon, that Link never arrived.
It makes sense because the Sages in this world are held in the highest regard, given how all of the towns in Zelda II are named after the Sages. They were the heroes and acted without Link.
When he appeared in the future, he created that timeline (and caused the above to become a seperate reality). There he became the Hero of Time and fulfilled the legend. This is the second timeline.
And when he went back to the past, he created a third timeline and had Ganon imprisoned before he started his shananigans.
I don’t know, just the way I’m looking at it. I refuse to believe a lot of my favorite Zelda games take place in a realm where Ganon kills Link. REFUSE! :looney:
Gameplay wise TP didn’t do anything new, the wolf mode paled in comparison to Okami’s take on a Zelda game with a wolf in pretty much every single way, A lot of temple items where useless outside of the temple you find them in. Gameplay wise it’s just very uninspired. Also People complained about the ocean in WW being empty and boring but the field in TP is just as boring and empty. Least in WW i can set my sail boat in a direction and then go puts in the kitchen making a sandwich or something. In TP i gotta control the horse the whole way. Nostalgia nothin that game is damn near paint by numbers.
One of the biggest secrets of the gaming world is finally revealed
now all that remains is for the Secret of Monkey Island to be revealed…
(Ron Gilberts is actually working on a new game, a concept he had in mind prior to Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island)
I didn’t watch the video, but this is what I figured as well. Even when I was playing OoT I was thinking that there should have been some sort of temporal fork in the road, but then again between Star Trek and Back to the Future my mind has been exposed to a bit of time travel sci fi over the years. I think that “hero is defeated” may be a marred translation. I also think it’s funny how all of the old games are on the one timeline. I wish they’d switched Ages/Seasons with Awakening because it’d make far more sense for Awakening Link to be the same one from LttP.
Because of the “nightmare” incarnations that you fight at the end of the game. One is Ganon from LttP, and another is Agahnim. It’d make a lot more sense for these to have manifested from memories. Also while none of the Zelda games have had strong stories it’d make much more sense for this to be the same Link and say that he was on vacation or some shit. It seems a bit of a waste for an incarnation of a “Legendary Hero” to come back and help a fish with his sleeping problem.
Difficult but not impossible…it could be a major side story ala Majora’s Mask considering the way how the game ended. I’m fine with them doing a whole new story again though since I’m sure Smash will take care of my curiosity on what SS would have looked like if it was made for Wii U.
I still love the hell out of this game…I halfway wish I hadn’t accidentally stumbled on Demise’s weakness because once that happened it was a wrap. I started my hero mode file last night so that should be interesting. I still haven’t found the secret merchant so that’ll be something I’ll have to put more effort into in this play through. I can’t decide where this falls in line on my own tier list of games I’ve played…I’m going to have to let it settle in my head first before I can make any clear placements.
spoilerific stuff
Spoiler
So basically Ganondorf is Demise’s hatred reincarnate? That’s what it felt like it was hinting at. I can even see some similarities in their facial structures if I compare the 2 in my head…particularly in TP. I felt Demise’s death was premature as hell though. He looked and sounded pretty bad ass but then he gets put down immediately before he gets a chance to do anything since he had Link on his wakeup. The road to the final battle was epic.
Ghirahim turning out to be Demise’s sword was a nice twist.
I also didn’t think I was going to miss Fi but the ending sort of nudged me off of the fence I was on.
Do you mean the Moonlight merchant? If so you should find him before hero mode if you haven’t gotten that far in it because:
Finding the Merchant and his perks
Spoiler
He basically sells the rare treasure items like the goddess plume etc. and they carry over to the hero mode file along with your bug collection, so if you have an excess of rupees before you finish the game you should dump them all on those items since rupees don’t carry over. Otherwise finding him isn’t really worth it imo. To find him, at night-time go to the cave in Skyloft where you first had to go through to rescue your bird and you’ll see some blessed butterflies. Play the harp there and you’ll meet the merchant (yes it’s a gossip stone).
…I wish I had known that before I went ahead and did it…oh well.
Edit:
Impa
[details=Spoiler]
Thinking about all this time travel stuff as I’m playing through the game. Impa basically had sit there and watch a lot of things go down without messing with any of it…that includes Ghirahim taking Zelda into the past. Though me sitting here and even thinking about that stuff is starting to make my head hurt. Present Impa had to have known that at some point Ghirahim was going to to come take her to the past sense it happened to her past self in the past though she didn’t know when it exactly it was going to happen since she was in the past when it occured. I don’t even want to try to think about Time Paradox shit that could have possibily happened by her doing whatever she did to the gate of time in the past. Ow ow ow ow…ok that’s enough. [/details]
Edit:
Fi just told me that hearts and heart flowers don’t appear in Hero Mode…Now I’m really killing myself for accidentally not putting that fairy in the bottle earlier.
