Need 4 more shrines to get the 13th heart!!
Shrine Hunting is not as fun as Lynel hunting but it has its moments. For example, discovering new areas with shit ton of secrets that you missed on previous playthroughs!!
Yep first time. Really digging it, but at the same time, I can feel lost and just do, what’s right. There have been times I’ve been lazy and hit up a FAQ after some time. The swamp dungeon and how to open it.
I’m in the turtle dungeon and at the part where I have to navigate a platform in the dark. It’s B2. I was tired last night and not having it. I’ll attack it later today. Game is cool as fuck, but my main knock is the sound design. Not a fan of the low heart noise, and I mentioned before, that an option to lower the music would’ve been great.
Did more exploration. Unlocked the Akkala tower. I took out a Sky Guardian using the magnet rune and a steel block. I just kept wacking it till death
One flaw every Zelda game has had until very recently is the noise it makes at low hearts. Should be able to turn that obnoxious shit off.
It’s the funniest shit.
Sneak by until you get to a higher place then bonk! (Complete with sound effects.)
Spent over half the game laughing at those silly things until I came across one where I couldn’t just cheese it up.
I got fucked up.
Good times.
Na, I would keep it as annoying as it is.
It adds the sense of urgency that you about to die and need to heal pronto.
And at this point since it been in every game I expect it to be there.
Naw it’s just distracting and annoying. I don’t need it to beep at me when I am low on Health, that’s what the health bar is for…to communicate my health levels to me. Almost no other game uses this useless system and they do just fine. Way harder games dont even ise this bonsense. I Getting rid of it was one of the best things they’ve done for the series in recent memory.
I’m envious. I just started playing it again on the Switch, but I had it for SNES back in the day, and it’s my favorite Zelda.
Actually, I still have my SNES and all the games, lol.
I tried to buy alttp for snes the other day at a local game shop. They wanted 70 and wouldnt budge on the price tho. Games hella good and worth some money but it isn’t worth 70 bucks. Sorry.
Wish I’d never lent my copy to that girl in HS back in the day.
I’m jealous of you guys that still have these consoles. I always traded mine in for another. I think the only time I had two consoles at once was when I had a Dreamcast and Gamecube, and now when I have a PS4 and Switch.
I just work hard and save up for new stuff instead of letting go of stuff I paid a lot for, for a fraction of the price, and regretting it down the road.
Things are a bit more affordable in the US tho.
Ugh…
The feat of getting to and dodging sky guardians to unlock that tower is going to be a pain in Master Mode!!
Unfortunately, I need to head that way to get to the 2nd Ancient Lab and the labyrinth!
Update: Master sword obtained.
Though how hard are the Beginner trials in Master Mode?
I wished I kept my Genesis and games. Granted I have more games on emulator and Switch, but I digress. Think I was almost at the first boss fight in Ganon’s Tower. Seems like a boss rush is going down. Might be another week
ALTTP Defeated.
Game was cool. This would have been one hell of a doozy, had I had a Super Nintendo and this game back on release, lol. Dungeons were pretty awesome, with some suprising secrets that I wasn’t expecting. One example I loved was walking through a door backwards since it would only open when my back was turned. I had to have the charge attack locked, so I would face the other direction. Dropping off in certain pits to reach a new level was a nice touch as well.
The music was pretty solid with with the fortune teller music being my favorite. The dungeons had appropriately creepy and ominous music. Young me would’ve definitely been taken aback from it, considering the aesthetic marketed at the time.
I was expecting to run through this pretty easy truth be told, so I was a little impatient at parts, but could still respect the game nonetheless. For a game and genre I used to write off as something that would be a one-n-done adventure, there were a lot mechanics that were put to good excuse that you had to ‘git gud’ at. The Cane of Somaria being the biggest example. I wasn’t expecting this game to have mechanics or scenarios that made me think “This would be cool during a replay after getting this part down”
The bosses were a lot of fun too. The kicked ass and were definitely challenging. While typing this and thinking back, this seems like the designers and crew had a lot of fun making this game…maybe not? Wasn’t expecting to type as much and there’s still more.
The sprite work and graphic effects are impressive an had me going “That looks awesome”. I was big fan of the clouds shading the land effect, that was done in the Lost Woods.
Hoping to get back to NES Zelda before this year is up. Think I’ll hit Link’s Awakening remake before that. Don’t know yet.
Parrying Guardian lasers is not forgiving at close range. . . . THAT IS ALL
Funny, I actually find it a bit easier to parry them somewhat close because I don’t have to worry about the travel time of the laser.
I’m pretty sure I ain’t getting nowhere close to a Guardian in Master Mode without
Daruk’s Protection ready to roll. And Armor. A lot of armor.
tho.
It’s tense enough to parry them as is, and in MM they can delay it to change the timing?
I’d rather fight a Lynel with rusty weapons.
Nothing in this game gives you a bigger “Oh crap!” moment than walking somewhere and hearing multiple Guardians waking up and aiming at you.
That’s the thing. Maybe it’s just me, but that window for error seems really small. Many Links died to work on that.
Been there,
fuck that,
beam me up Scotty
Smh. I Metal Gear’d my way in to parry them one by one.
Guardians must’ve been looking at you like
Meanwhile, this dude out here looking like Daigo.
That was when I was goofing off in Central Hyrule approaching the castle because reasons. It’s when I started the game and didn’t know you could parry yet. I evaded, but then then ran into a few other guardians along the way.
Fast Travel is a godsend in this title.
So now I got the other Tech location. Is the Ancient Armor worth getting?
Sidenote - This game really makes me want to play through Horizon Zero Dawn again.
It’s one of my minor gripes with this game. You shouldn’t be able to fast travel away from fights.
