If you think that older Zelda games did some things better, that’s fine. I for one liked the dungeons in BotW but do miss stuff like Majora’s Mask’s Stone Tower or Twilight Princess’ Arbiter’s Grounds. Boss fights could’ve been better.
botw + traditional zelda dungeons would be ridiculously good.
as for botw, it took a lot for me to accept it is my favorite Zelda. nostalgia is tough, but botw is simply the original zelda concept fully (or nearly fully) realized for me.
i would like to see the reintroduction of magic in the sequel as well. one area where modern Zelda games have been lacking is that they don’t feel like fairy tales anymore. thats not a criticism, its that they clearly made a choice to avoid it. i like both styles but would like to see certain things from the old zeldas brought back in.
by magic i mean actual magic and not super advanced technology
So we’re doubling down on the Nintendo thing eh? (by the way…I watched wrestling so I’m fully aware of what a mark is). I’ll address this for the last time since I believe it’s completely irrelevant regardless. Nintendo makes fucking dumb decisions as much as any other company, case in point their stupid ass online setup for the Switch. I don’t know where you get this idea of me being a ‘mark’ for Nintendo…what cause I like their games? OK…guilty? I like Sony’s shit as well does that make me a Sony mark too? Doesn’t make any since what this would have to do with shit other than it feels like you’re just trying to deflect.
Just because a game in a series does something better than a previous entry (subjective) doesn’t make it not a game in the series. The game still had dungeons, the music wasn’t as memorable as previous entries and the story was still Link saving Hyrule. Like people mentioned earlier, saying you don’t like the game or in your case you don’t THINK you’re going to like the game doesn’t make the game not Zelda. Not liking the game is perfectly fine, some can’t get past the fact that the weapons breaking and that’s cool, saying the game is not Zelda though? I don’t think you realize how ridiculous that sounds. It’s like me saying Skyward Sword isn’t a Zelda game because I found the combat better in the previous games without motion controls.
I also find it crazy how you’re saying this stuff while saying you can’t be a fair critic…why the heck would you even say it isn’t a Zelda game in the first place then? THAT is a rhetorical question.
Then I snowboarded down from the highest peak on the Hebra mountain down to Kokiriko Drift in one go.
Too good.
My Wal-Mart (ew) order went through after all so the Champion amiibo are supposed to show up two days later after the official release date. Only to be wrapped for Christmas, lol. The unlocks they have are nii~ice.
Sonic: I told you already. It’s not a bad thing that you are a nintendo mark. It just prevents you from seeing things negatively because you are probably a positive person. I’m sure it’s a great game, and people put hours and hours into it probably moreso than prior Zeldas. It’s the nature of open world style games like Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
There is precedence that was set for a series that existed forever. Weapon breaking and no music playing while you’re going across Hyrule is enough for me to say this ain’t for me.
But I will concede and give it to you. Breath of a Wild is a Zelda game. It’s about as much of a Zelda game as Mario Teaches Typing (DOS anyone?) is a Mario game.
This is just because he doesn’t want to admit he is a Nintendo mark, which again, I’ve said there’s nothing wrong with it.
I can quote too. Here’s page 13 and 14. 6 years ago when Skyward Sword was the new Zelda. Here’s 3 of us giving some criticism, and then someone comes to defend.
Defensive Sonic:
He then proceeds to respond to me to tell me I can recalibrate my camera by pushing down on the control pad (which the game mentions several times), despite me not even mentioning I had aiming issues. I got upset back then because he didn’t read my post. I didn’t realize it was because he was too busy defending Nintendo…because he’s a Nintendo mark LOL.
Defending something you like doesn’t make you a mark.
Saying “I didn’t have an issue with this when I was playing” doesn’t make you a mark.
Mentioning the calibration thing to see if you had tried it to fix your issue (which you didn’t mention) doesn’t make you a mark. Sometimes people miss the obvious, after all.
Crotch: I conceded previously, already said it’s a Zelda game in the post before that. It’s not a claim, it’s an opinion. You didn’t read and you already made your point long ago when you said you think I should not play or buy a guide when playing…conclusion, I’m not playing as I mentioned previously. End of story.
Lord: You made your point. One point of correction, I did mention it in that original post…did you not play Skyward Sword or read the post? Right above, I mentioned you can’t just fix the issue I was having my centering/recalibrating the camera? You have an agenda to defend and you want to define my own words now, ok.
I realize the issue now, I made my original post and everyone replied to it, and I only chose to reply to Sonic because he’s clearly the only one incapable of understanding.
I originally said “This isn’t a Zelda game to me”, not this isn’t a Zelda game. I’ve conceded on the second clause. There are multiple people and multiple articles online who will agree with me. You’re not capable of understanding, so why even ask? LOL. I’m done.
All you conceded was that it was Zelda in name only with a sarcastic and derrisive comparison to Mario Typing. I’m lookiing for actual reason here, not some off hand comment you think is witty.
Your opinion is a claim you are making. I’m simply asking for your reasoning, something you have continued to fail to provide, probably because you know they are shallow at best. I did read by the way, saying otherwise is again you dodging having to actually make a real response.
Of course we are incapable of understanding when you fail to ever actually explain anything. Our lack of understanding is your fault.
“But I will concede and give it to you. Breath of a Wild is a Zelda game. It’s about as much of a Zelda game as Mario Teaches Typing (DOS anyone?) is a Mario game.”
That isn’t really “conceding…” which is why we’re still bringing it up.
We understand what you’re saying, we just don’t agree.
Also:
No, you’re just calling him a mark even though he isn’t one to try and shut him down based on fasehoods.
Good thing you’re stopping 'cause you’re just making yourself look worse.
