I stumbled across that pond on accident.
[details=Spoiler]
Was like “shit a fairy pond!”. Stock up on fairies like a mother fucker btw. They’re needed badly.
Anyone else seen glowing blue rabbits that shit rupees when you hit them, or manage to hit them more than once?
Me and my wife have come across them in the forest. I didnt have arrows at the time though and the rabbit ran away when my wife played.
…one thing that the voice acting in this game has brought to my attention…
…Link isn’t all that heroic sounding of a name. It’s kind of a boring one to say, actually. It’s like if your savior was named Tom.
Link is currently the hero if ladies pants tho. So many ladies swooning over him as you play. It’s amazing
[details=Spoiler] I don’t know much about Zelda, aren’t they all on the same timeline? From what I’ve seen of the story so far it seems like it might be referencing the first game’s events though, even down to the art style of that imagery that always pops up when someone is telling you about the legend. When it shows the guardians they’re always lined up very organized like tiled bushes or pieces of landscape in the first game.
LoZ has 3 timelines.
…note to self, always carry a torch.
A rainstorm was preventing me from climbing around this new area I found, so I wanted to sit by a campfire to pass the time until the storm passed…I had firewood, I found a nearby spot out of the rain that had a light source…but I had nothing to light the firewood with, was out of fire arrows and had no wooden weapons to light from the aforementioned light source. So I just stood there until the weather changed.
…and as I suspected, more name references.
[details=Spoiler]Pico Pond, Minshi Woods (spelled differently but I’m certain this is a Minish Cap reference)
Rauru Hillside
Lake Saria
Mido Swamp[/details]
Oh, and shopping adventures:
[details=Spoiler]You know that arrow that Link used in the very first teaser for the game? If you buy enough/sell enough at Beedle’s shop, he may give you one next time you encounter him (customer appreciation day, he’ll call it). And he’ll also tell you where to find more.
There’s a mad scientist that you can acquire them from who lives far north of Zora’s Domain. Might be worth a trip if a Guardian ever gets on your bad side.[/details]
If you have any flint in your inventory, drop it next to your wood and strike it with a metal wepon to start a fire.
Made another cool discovery.
I found the Master Sword. Seems you can technically acquire it before completing any of the dungeons…as long as you have enough heart containers. Extra hearts you put on from foods and elixirs don’t count. So unless you’ve completed a ton of shrines and focused only on heart containers, it’s probably still gonna end up being a late-game weapon for you. Haven’t figured out exactly how many heart containers it takes to get it.
Man, I’ve fallen way behind you guys, it seems. Moving is a pain in the ass.
So I climbed the red mountain in the Gerudo Desert and discovered some new things:
[list]
[] It’s damn cold up there. You need mid/high level cold resistance. Warm doublet doesn’t work.
[] Raw meat that’s exposed to cold turns into a new item
[] Killed some wolves with fire arrows. The meat they dropped was cooked.
[] Found a lone ice wizzrobe with three large ice pillars. I tried melting them down with fire arrows but ran out before I could melt the last one. I’m pretty sure melting them down does something.
[] There’s a cooking pot. It also appears to be the only source of heat, so I’d mark it on your map if you’re going to explore.
[] There’s at least one Korok
[] I found a half-buried chest but couldn’t open it because I ran out of fire arrows. I haven’t tried using magnesis, now that I think about it. Too busy trying not to die.
[] Not specific to the mountain, but I learned that if you heat a normal arrow, it can keep you warm in the cold for a little bit.
[/list]
Make sure you’re prepared before you attempt to climb the mountain. Had some close calls while I was climbing. Gonna try exploring some more.
Get a horse or some movement elixirs ya’ scrub.
Something I wish I had realized earlier. Aside from taking pictures of wildlife, materials, weapons and the like, you can also take pictures of treasure chests. So you can then seek them out via the sensor much like you can with shrines and any item you can take a picture of.
…I haven’t been using that feature yet though, I’ve just been taking pictures of everything I can find.
Is combat as tight as Twilight Princess, as I understand it there are no rolls, but there is a back jump dodge quick time combo. Also, I never appreciated how good a boomerang that always comes back to you is, until I played Neutopia II. Is there one in this game? Are there magic staffs or whips or something outside of typical melee weapons?
If you time your dodge right, you will slow down time, allowing you to get a ton of hits in. It’s pretty much witch time. There’s lots of little things you learn in combat as you go. Expect to die a lot too, many enemies can OHKO you.
Boomerangs exist, but they aren’t like the old boomerangs. You can use them in melee, and you can throw them. Unlike previous Zeldas, you have to manually catch the boomerangs on their return or you’ll lose them.
You can find magic rods. So far, I’ve found a fire and ice rod. I assume there’s an electrical rod, but I don’t know what else is out there.
EDIT:
So I used my spicy peppers trying different concoctions. I needed them for this cooking mission and was told I could find more at the Temple of Time but no dice.
So anyone come across spicy peppers outside of the old man’s house or Temple of Time?
