The League of Legends Thread: Winter is...coming?

I’m going to wander on in ~2 hours if anyone wants to queue.

Yo that base race was pretty sick

Seriously! Something exciting finally happened, that shit got extra hype.

No lich bane was wtf-worthy though

The announcers are worried about IRELIA being a bad pick. They literally just uttered the phrase “They need to be careful about Irelia.”

We’re not even playing the same fucking game as these teams.

I don’t follow. Primarily because literally, I’m not able to follow the stream. Mind explaining what you mean? Last I experienced, Irelia can be a mighty sharp pain in the ass :<

They were talking like she was a liability on that team because of the potential for lane switches, and her trouble with a 2v1 lane. First time I’ve ever heard someone question an Irelia pick like that.

Irelia is a gdlk choice, but whenever Jax is open I’m always thinking why not just take him

yeah you get 25% more damage with each maxed out at 4 stacks so you get double damage on his e at 4 stacks. that and increased healing and regen up to 8% extra at max rank each stack i believe.

not really spammable early game with low health pool but mid/late game he should usually have max stacks.

Yeah, that sounds like bad commentating because, (imo) if the commentators disagree with their picks, the least they could do is cover why irelia could be their key to victory as well as how she could be the reason they lose. I could go on a whole tangent on how shitty commentating is for pro-gaming at all levels. I miss the days of Halo 2 pro-gaming. That shit was the realest of the real.

This. Ap/hybrid jax is so fucking insane. Out of curiosity, does anyone know jax’s bad matchups? From what I’ve seen, high-health targets like mundo, ww, and maybe even darius can give jax a really hard time without the right items. Mid and high CC champs like hec, jax, fiddlez, etc can be really bothersome if you’re behind in levels at all and until you have the right items to deal with them, but I haven’t really found any hard matchups for the guy. Any ideas, opinions, stories, etc?

Jax’s bad matchup is enemy jungler camping top lane all game
But Renekton should be okay in all seriousness

Renekton does fine, Rumble does fine, Malphite is good, Riven could do pretty well. But there just isn’t really anyone who shits on Jax in lane and can match him once he has an item or two, unfortunately. You have to win lane really hard against Jax for it to feel like a true win for your team some times. He’s pretty good at all stages of the game. Overall team counters are mostly hard CC and attack speed slows (so Nunu, Gragas, Malphite, Ezreal)

As for the Irelia commentary, they were specifically saying that Irelia is bad in a 2v1 lane, which is true. Given that CLG was expected to do lane swaps, they thought it was questionable to pick Irelia against a suspected 2v1. I’d say it was a pretty reasonable comment. CLG ended up wanting to take standard 1v1 and 2v2 lanes, but there was not really any way for the commentators to know that for certain.

I see, thanks for clarifying all that for me
I still wish I could’ve watched… lol

Been listening to one of my friends bitch about solo queue forever. He thought he could easily play at 1900, was great, could hold his own with pros if he “understood the meta”, etc. (his own words not mine lol). Today I spectated one of his games and took some notes. I had to tap out at 22 minutes, I can’t believe the ego some people develop. I am glad I was humbled by fighting games and their competitive scene before I started league of legends. Seriously, thank fucking god.

Translated: “I played poorly and lost my lane, but you could have covered my ass and made up for my mistakes. You didn’t, thus my lane was your fault.”

Translated translated: “I’m fucking terrible.”

Said it before and I’ll say it again; there’s no such thing as ELO hell, just people who can’t come to terms with their own skill level.

It’s also the Junglers fault that the lanes that need help the most are always pushed

Also, the Singapore Mundo top is hella strong against Jax top, but you aren’t as useful in a fight so you have to dominate lane.

Big matches tonight it seems

I played 4 games tonight with some friends (sorry SRK) and saved replays. Anyone want to give me some constructive criticism? I’m mostly worried about the early game and what I could have done better.

He can be terrible, but against a bad matchup you need help…
