The Last of Us

Well personally I don’t really play to boost my population past a certain point. If I encounter a pop risk and I have exhausted all major jobs. I just do nothing, make people go hungry and then right after the game weeds out all of those sick and hungry people.

Damage control people, Damage control.

Yeah, after having played for a few days, I’m back up to 79 at Week 5. It’s easy to control your population once you understand how the risk/reward challenge system works.

Apparently there is unlockable stuff for having over 85 population at the end of week 12, so I guess I’ll try for that. I’ve been tearing shit up the last few days - an average of about 4500 parts per game - so it’s nice that the game is finally truly “clicking” for me in regards to multiplayer.

I’m pretty much absorbed in the gameplay. I’m a huge fan of this and can’t wait until they expand it.

I started playing the single player at my in-laws’ house and I just made it to the first encounter with hunters.

This game is not fun. This game is fucking amazing, but it is not fun. This is not the sort of game you pick up after a long day of doing something else. This is a game you play when you want to deal with stress lol. This is the game that makes you take a break and play CoD lol.

Great game, though.

I don’t know if this is something that happens with a lot of PS3 games, but I kinda like the super fucking long loading time at the beginning. Load the entire game and never deal with another loading screen? Yeah, I can get behind that.

He’s from Texas.

Anyway, I’m late to this thread but goddamit this game is amazing. Story is the most compelling a videogame has been in a very long time for me. I think probably has something to do with my apocalypse fetish I have. Ah well…excellent ass game.

Regarding the story.

Spoiler

I’m good with everything about the end sequence except for the lie Joel told to Ellie at the very end. Literally, the ending is good until the very last line. I don’t feel like Joel would bother lying to Ellie at that point. He would just tell her what really happened, and say that he did it to protect her and then they’d have a big argument, and one would find the other later, they’d talk and then…feels

I wish the game let you throw spears. Would like to emulate the dude off gain ground.

I don’t know you do kinda sort of get that a little

Spoiler

I mean when Joel lies to Ellie, you can kinda see it on her face that she knows he’s lying but it had to be for a good reason and she just drops it.

[spoiler=]There’s a file to can find on the way to Ellie that confirms that the Fireflies did in fact had other immune persons and all died in vain. It suddenly makes Joel actions more justified[/details]

I keep trying to give this game a god damn chance, over and over and over, and quite simply.

I don’t like the game at all.

And I was so hype for this game. I thought this would be the survival game to get something that would simple be beyond and above. But no, I don’t like it. Maybe its my fault for expecting so much from the game, but it doesn’t cut it.

The choice of firearms freaking blows, enemies take way to much damage to kill, as do I. Enemies don’t react to slain enemies like they did in Tomb Raider. IDK, maybe im being overly picky, but this game really let me down. I appreciate it for what it is, and what its doing for the gaming industry (streamlining Metal Gear solid type story telling along with character development), and trying to break a mold. But its not cutting it for me, and I can see how its my fault for allowing myself to believe this was the survival game where there was an AI that responded to noise on the same level if not better than Crysis 1.

And the graphics look like shit, I just can’t get over that. Its really bugging me to hell. Its not like Killzone where there are a million things going on there are explosions everywhere, cars everywhere, ships everywhere, particle effects everywhere, people everywhere, etc. Game should look as good as Ninja Gaiden Sigma, idk, but whatever.

Thought you were serious, until you said “graphics look like shit”

Those statements make me 100% confident that you have never played the game, pedo.

You clearly haven’t even gotten to the hunters if you don’t think that enemies react to the death of others. Oftentimes that’s part of my strategy - killing someone in the line of patrol so that another person would find the body and panic, so I could sneak up and strangle them.

OH really??

I happened to fucking shot one of the canibals in the fucking neck and he makes his gargling noise and the dude in front of him keeps walking like nothiing happened. yeah that’s some reaction right there.

yeah, and they do look like shit. You have to be fucking blind to not notice that the lack of AA makes this game look jagged as fuck.

AI interaction is one of the qualms I have with the games. I just haven’t seen the scenario that you’re talking about. Anytime I kill someone in front of another person, they would definitely notice and attack me. I don’t know if it makes a difference or not, but are you playing the game on easy? Maybe it’s a possibility that their detection is not as sensitive on lower difficulties.

There’s a vast difference between having jagged edges when you look at trivial, background shit like foliage, and the game looking like shit. This is one of the best looking console games of all time, IMO. It’s not perfect, but give me an example of anything that is.

Was playing on hard.

It’s the black dude and the white dude, who ramble about how they want to finish this and put David’s leadership up for questioninig. Happened plenty of times before and after.

Pick off the dude in the rear, hit him in the neck while he is literally right behind the other guy, makes a scene over being shot in the neck and the dude in the front keeps walking.

It’s annoying as hell because I expected this game to deliver on AI reaction to its enviorment on the quickness. I was under the impression that any noise intentional or not would have immediate consequences if there where enemies around. That’s why I got this game in its first week, just to have that experience because I love those type of games where the AI reacts to anything you do. I pick off the dude in the back, I have at least 1 second to pick off the other dude before he alerts the others. Granted the clickers where better at this than the humans, I expected this from all enemies.

I wasn’t expecting perfection, I at least wanted that, if it could be anything, I wanted a really smart AI that responds to everything even Ellies stupidity.

Which is why I am so dissapointed with this game, and again, its probably my fault for expecting anything like that from a current gen game.

And I like my backgrounds to be pretty in these type of games. If the game is as static, I expect the foilage along with other things like clothing to be detailed. If there are a lot of things happening at once, I expect the game to not look as good on the merit that a lot of the processing power is being directed to the background.

I used to be addicted to soap, but I’m clean now.

playing through in survival now. Thinking that I should have just gone with it from the start so I could be on NG+, but oh well. Don’t really play shooters much so I thought I’d play it safe.

I like the puns in the game.

Shit’s kinda hard…

You gonna give the single-player another go?

ok, game is great, only thing really annoys me is how that bitch never learn to swim, she cantlearn, ok, at least learn to stay afloat
