The KOFXI Thread Version III-EVO World Team Tournament: Team Juarez v. Cali v. Japan!

Yes he’s right here…esp the Ground Crossups part…esp after Sweeps…

Maxima
C/D, AB(cancel)

  • qcf+A
  • dB, hcf+B

His multi hit normal is C, but canceling D doesn’t make him roll behind the opponent. Would those be good ways to use the cancel for Maxima - I can’t seem to get these in against the CPU very well.

What are sweeps? I’m bad with terms.
How does AB cancel counter enemy guard?

it is made to counter enemy guard E (blownoff/blowback/whatever). when you use AB cancel, you can punish these attempts.

Yes and as I say after sweeps it gives you the crossups…

Thanks, I guess I should stop worrying about finding points where Kula can get punished and think about my Kim and Ralf more lol.

I was serious about not knowing what you meant by sweeps. I need like some sort of term list.

Sweeps…down+D or your hard kick…knocks the opponent down…

If you AB Cancel a sweep you crossover post knock down.

Thanks

I’m a bit curious, is beth E tier without her LDM and C tier with her LDM? BnB is cake but her priority is lacking

It’s a pushback thing usually. Your character lands pretty much exactly where your last character was, so generally speaking you need a move that reaches pretty far to do midscreen QS stuff. Oswald jC and jD happen to both not quite reach very consistently in midscreen QS combos. Really depends on what you QS off of, though. Like off Gato QCF+C, not gonna happen unless they’re in the corner. Off like… point blank sweep QS (for like a wacky mixup) it might work.

So you have the right idea, do jA when QSing to Oswald at midscreen.

I would think she’d be a little higher. Her BnB’s are great and can be chained into specials or her LDM. Her priority isn’t half bad either just takes some practice to memorize where the “hit” on her jumping E actually is. Also, you can punish whiffs with her LDM; it’s not as fast as Beni’s but does more damage and leaves her completely covered.

Quick question: Are QS combos worth trying to integrate into your game play? On one hand, they don’t seem to be extremely practical as pointed out by my friend Jon Badwolf (and they can get costly in terms of skill stocks and power levels required to pull off these meaty combos). On the other hand, I think I have seen some Japanese matches pull off QS combos (with Kyo and K’ or something like that… can’t remember exactly). So I’m curious what is the general opinion on this question.

WTF? They are very practical…esp if you have characters with devastating Leaders like Duo Lon, Kula, Gato etc…

Thats instant tag into LDM for free pretty much unless they Save Shift…

You can’t blindly quickshift…

Also its useful for tagging into Stun combos like Oswald, Duck, Maxima etc…

So on the contrary they dont suck at all…they are a must for high level play

Ontop of that you Quickshift out to save your character off like any string as long as you can QS out of it…I thought people knew that by now…

Thanks for the earlier advice on character selection, guys. Went back through the roster again, and I’ve decided on Kula/Shen/Eiji(L).

To add onto what DG said- how is 1 skill point for 40-60% damage “costly?” 1 skill point + 1 meter = one super cancel combo… or one QS combo to super for like 1.5-2x the damage.

And 1 skill point to safely tag out a character is nothing to sneeze at. Especially when that safe tag out gives you a combo or a mixup at the very least.

Yo, 2 peeps responding to this isn’t enough. QS combos lead it instant leaders. QS combos is one of the reasons Gato is on almost everyone’s team. QS is kinda essential to your gameplay man.

Thanks for the prompt responses, fellas. I’ll take your words into consideration as I keep finding what works for me in this game.

I asked before about Kensou and Kyo’s corner combos and I’m finally able to do Kyo’s fairly well. The trick was that you HAVE to delay the second kick and from there it’s strictly timing. If you do the second kick as fast as possible then the dp+c won’t ever connect. I’m wondering if you knew the trick to Kensou’s? I’ve practiced him quite a bit and know that in order for it to combo you have to do the jump hit a bit above the ground or else it’ll push the guy too far. My only problem is after the dp+d launcher. I can connect the first hit but not the qcb+d. I’ve tried various timings and still haven’t been able to pull it off yet. I know it’s not entirely critical for his gameplay but would really like to be able to do it anyways.

I’m also messing around with Duo Lon and seeing if you can’t reset the opponent since his back is turned. Have you ever tried that? Is it useless since I’m guessing high level people guard in the right direction waiting for you to mess up or finish the combo?

Been working with that idea…and I normally do it via the launcher combo…

i just bought this game off of ebay and i’ll probably start frequenting this thread more often. anyways… i just wanted to give this a bump back to the first page.
