I’m going to start going in hard in king practice soon to prep for evo. I got to get my King at a high level. Overcome my bad match-ups (that robot bitch)
I’ll look for more set-ups and other stuff. Also I still am not fond of Jag step. On the other hand I really wish they gave him backwards Jag step like in Tag 2. Imagine all the mind games with messing with catching rolls and back Jag stepping out of pressure instead of backdashing.
Another thing, if you do Cr.Hp meaty enough it’ll whiff against non-tall chars.
OMG! Did any of you watch NCR this weekend? Flash Metroid King resets are too good! I saw him do it and I was like, Im taking that. Went home and used it online. HOLY HELL!!! The damage on this is too good! Every serious King player should be using this.
C.Light Kick > C. Medium Kick > S. Fierce XX EX konvict Kick > Rolling Elbows X3 > C.Light Kick > C. Medium Kick > S. Fierce ----- EX Konvict Kick or – Jumping Knee Lift or – Launcher
Huh, didn’t realize that s.lk is actually a low. That makes it a lot more useful and a lot scarier because you can use it to get surprise konvict combos on folks on people that like to just stand against King.
Late but Flash’s resets scale hella badly. He really doesn’t need the medium in there because he’s boost chaing anyway. Just go straight to the HP.
I’ve been playing King with Cammy recently and it’s a pretty solid team setup, especially because an anti-air leads to big damage as a knee combo lands from it. HK Cannon Spike is crazy damage as well making it a good start to a combo or special canceling it off something.
I’m still playing King and he’s easily my strongest character. The problem is virtually all the characters I like are anchors so I’ve actually been thinking about trying King on point. Le Gasp!
I actually play my King very patiently and defensively in neutral. Maybe it is just because now I stop and think about every move rather than gimmick my way to a HKD, but it seems to give me more wins. I do not know if this is considered weird or not but it gives me hope I can try some dream teams of mine like King/Paul. Simply using his great AAs, st.hk, and c.mk is enough to keep out many opponents. Once you can make reads he gets counter, ex grabs, and shoulder block. Of course once I get a HKD off of these moves I get to go offensive, and I think these seemingly differing styles belonging to one character is what makes him my favorite.
I run Paul/King and that’s the order and team I ran mostly at evo. It works well enough albeit has a few bad match-ups with zoners. It is a DAMAGE team too. Paul gets the first hit and then if your opponent gets touched again they’re generally dead at that point because you’ll have the meter to tag in and kill. Usually second round but I’ve done it first round before.
nah it wasn’t me. I didn’t get enough offline practice/ps3 practice so it really hurt me not to warm up and I didn’t make it out of pools :[
I like paul because I feel like I can do more with less meter. I also feel he gets bullied less and in really tough situations if I have at least 1 meter I have a decent reversal. Also I like that any hit confirm I can chain combo into Knee lift due to how high he hits them up. I like to play; get hits, get meter, Get in king, blender.
