The King Thread

thought I was the only one. I actually stopped king cuz u kept doing this

What are u trying to buffer? I have no mis inputs…odd. But his CADC from low forward is awesome.

I get this a lot, and yeah, it pisses me off. I typically hold down back when I do hit confirm lights and the negative edge often makes me get that move out when I don’t mean to.

It does actually, if you input it before they cross you up or input it as 4KK instead of 6KK if they’re already over you. It’s got 17 frames to catch an Air normal, so if you do the counter early you can catch ambiguious crossups right before they connect.

it doesn’t catch cross ups, your abusing auto correct o_O
i lab tested this with all notable cross ups(tatsu’s, body press, dive kicks, etc.) they all stuff out his counter however…ya if you auto correct king, hell counter if the cross up is “deep” for auto correct to take effect. otherwise your going to get beat out every time…good counter but their are better ones(like Lili’s EX counter…if shes touched by a strike at all it works[full body])

Has anyone tried doing a unblockable setup using Kazuya or Ken’s special moves that stay out for a long time? It seems like you can set up one with Kazuya if you use the heavy qcb kick special and time the unblockable to hit just as the move is ending. Not sure if it would be practical mid match but it would definitely catch people off guard.

It works best in the corner because you don’t need to move forward at all after tagging in, but you can do it midscreen just make sure to walk one step forward before going into the unblockable.

Unblockables become blockable while you are in blockstun, so a reversal or backdash would beat you out.

I know for sure that it’s catches lens cross up tastu. I’ve done it many times. I have no idea why it works but it does.

So it would work in the corner then right? Since they have nowhere to backdash and if you time it right they will just be getting out of blockstun.

that seems like pretty impractical, easy to mess up timing if you ask me.

8 frames of invincibility on backdashes (regardless of if you move or not) beats the 8 active frames of Moonsault. I mean, if you made it hit a frame later than they came out of blockstun and they backdashed in the corner it would work.

Also, invincible reversals will beat it of course. So unless you have pitch perfect timing in the corner and they don’t have a reversal with strike invincibility, it won’t work

Has anyone tried not using the ender King’s super to have better positioning against the opponent if it wasn’t going to kill? It does leave you right next and allows for more of a mix-up game when they get up/roll away.

I never use it tbh, I noticed that it does less damage in combos, and as you said the normal ender gives a better positioning.

I really need a fight stick.
I’m having a bitch of a time trying to do his Giant Swing/Tomahawk with a pad.

Capcom did good with some of their DLC colors. Tekken 4 King FTW!

Okay guys, I’m new to King (relatively). Played and ground my ass off with him and Cammy and I felt like I was getting some leeway but…

What the fuck do you do about Kazuya? It seemed like whatever Shining Wizard/Jaguar Dance/F+M mix-up I did he just pumped out his low strong or jab-jab tekken chain and beat it all out. Anyone have advice?

If you do meaty Jaguar Step>Lariat on wakeup, it should stuff his jabs. Shining Wizard only really works well if you have meter to do EX (which is why a lot of people prefer to have him second) If you’re playing footsies, you should be going for far standing :lk:, or cr.:mk:> DDT two-in-ones for safe pressure. Also why bother doing ground mixups on Kazuya if you can jump at him practically for free? Neutral jump :hp: his ass

Sounds good man.

Go hitbox, transition is easier, reward is just as good.

Something I learned from some King mirror matches.

King can Giant Swing King during a shoulder charge on reaction.
And anyone can regular throw King out of his Giant Swing.
