The King of Street Fighters

Short and Hyper jumps have always made KOF a much deeper game than people seem to think. C.Viper and Abel have elements taken straight from KOF. More new characters might also have this. So Capcom might be lifting more stuff from SNK than you want. Also, something is definitely wrong with you if you got bored of GG.

SSFIV may have 35 characters(really didn’t that much), but you seem to have forgotten how long it takes to make the KOF sprites with these new graphics. You should be happy with the 31 characters in KOFXIII. I know the real fans are.

No it isn’t. We hate dumb speculation threads like these and they get closed as soon as the moderators wake up.

@Dullyanna:

I didn’t say that it GG is more strategic than those games; I said that GG already bores me. I did say that they were more than KoF, that’s kinda true. If there’s a general consensus here about KoF being equally or more strategic than other franchises, to me that could’ve been true at some point in history, but nowadays you have games that lets you start a combo from a throw, or from the opponent stepping onto a frog. KoF still mantains their “weak combo for weak punches” and “hard combos for hard punches, their lenght depending purely on the special gauge” thing, and its game revolving around normals I don’t think it’s even remotely refined as the one shown on SSF4.

If SF4 never came out, we wouldn’t be getting threads like these.

I can’t wait to see the look on your face when this thread is locked.

SRK; The Street of Fighting Kings.

@Gravelneed: I know the whole ordeal around people borrowing elements from SNK and viceversa. It’s not that “I don’t want to realize wether Capcom borrows from SNK or not”. If I can identify myself of being fan from a fighting game developer, that would be SNK and it’s legacy is undeniable, but lately they’re not making the better games, IMO. All that I said originally is that Capcom already has the roster, the franchises and an engine begging to get tweaked in order to provide an in-house crossover that might provide a new take on it’s fighting game universe. I know how hard is to make those sprites, I’ve been following the developing blog, the Arcadia news, (or whatever japanese magazine it is) several forums and stuff… This KoF looks promising (specially from the graphics side) but the gameplay aspect lacks the daring ideas of old days, and it’s no longer a novel alternative to the ever-dominating SF scene: It’s a franchise full of fanservice and conservadurism.

@fenixnl: I guess you didn’t read the 16+ pages full comments on the “Mistery Guy on Flames” in the front page…

@Anakron: I’ve been through worse, believe me.

uh…lol sorry but no. hnk is one of my favorite games, but that game is one of the least strategic games ever. there are some decisions to be made at intermediate play with the fko system when played 3/5, but outside of that, its about killing someone off 1 hit, period. hnk is about as much ‘combo game’ as a game can get

@Dandy J: You got a point there. I’m no pro at HnK and I’m still having a blast trying to make my opponent fall into an unblockable and finding new combos and stuff. The strategy elements are there, kinda well placed, but it’s over-the-top gameplays aspects making honor to it’s source are really prevalent at high levels of play. You are right, sir. At the end, in HnK wins the one who scores the big combo first, just like KoF 2k1 lol.

fail thread
close this shit please

Someone wake up SK

Freedo of speech guys. I don’t know what’s so bad about it. I posted an idea, and if you liked, you could say it. If you don’t, you could say it too. I don’t know why you want this topic closed. It’s not harming anyone (it’s not harming YOU, GOAT GUY) and it’s much easier leaving it as it is, and if somebody cares, that somebody could share his thoughts also.

Stop making crappy threads about made-up games. When people do this, PM me and it’ll be an instant lock. The rule is that if the game does not exist, it doesn’t belong in FGD.

why doesn’t anyone pm us or hit me up on irc is beyond me
