that is probably the only Ryo player I seen devoted to the fireball DM instead of
the rush combo DM.

and now for the main event! Arcade Infinity match! Cage96 vs Kabol

this was 2 months ago, but I never seen it before. Kensou can do a 17 hit combo???

That was pretty bad. One of the players fell for the awesome mixup that is the cr.D.

And aside from mashing the rapid punches with Kensou they can’t do “combos”. They can’t even hitconfirm. That one Robert player… his combo for the day was st.C>DP.

I believe he’s talking about counter stun, which is new in XII. If you counter an opponents attack cleaning with a hard attack, they will have longer than normal stun time, which can be followed up by combos even on traded hits. Also we talked about how s. A’s and such are not viable options as anti-air unless its done at near point blank range. If that was the case, you can get countered/CC if the opponent chooses to do a s. C instead of hopping at that range. Because of this the low risk just goes out the window.

Hit frames seem to be a lot smaller for standing light attacks. Also hop attacks come out faster than in the previous kof versions. When we all first learned this game, it was like we had to relearn all the properties of every attack. They don’t function in a similar way they do in the old kofs.

Let me give you a list of common options for anti air.

 1. Poke - may receive counter hit and does not have the priority/range it used to
 2. dp special - high risk - low reward, needs faster response time than before
 3. b+CD - same as above, except they can do an empty hop and punish, even with a CC on top of that
 4. d. B (for some characters) - high risk - mid to high reward (something I do often but also get hit out of often)

I think in some of the videos you see, the opponent actually might be trying to do on of these options, but get hit in the process of trying to counter them. It seems to me that after playing since 4/30 that the best option to counter hops is to zone and use your own hop light attacks or just block them.

Emil, I think you are getting these types of responses not because of you trying to point out what we can improve on, but rather the way you word things. As a player who has not yet played the game, you should actually post it a way similar to this: “I notice you guys get hit by hop attacks often. Do anti air not work as well as they used to, or just missing the opportunity?” Even if you don’t intend it to be that way, you do come off with an elitist attitude.

We’re just uploading this videos so other’s may pick up something. Remember these are casual games between friends, and the latter videos are on a free arcade machine. By no means is this how we play in tournament matches =P

you know theres probably a shitload of chinese and others that would fuck all of you stick users up, all of you on this board. all i gotta say is, wow, you suck that much on stick? you know how much you fail as a stick gamer to get fuckd by a kb user? cause thats what your getting at.

for the rest thanx for the vids and keep uploading them.

edit: wow those last links by affinety where pretty terrible.

I think it would be best if you refrain from trying to derail this topic and/or flame people on this board. This thread specifically is for videos and to talk about videos. These type of posts would probably cause us to lose interest in posting here further. I’m pretty sure people come here to discuss tactics/strategies/gameplay and not to read this kind of stuff. You should take it to a PM if you feel the need to express this.

im just being real. we can talk about what you want. im just shocked theres actually somebody believing their skill is automatically better cause their on a stick. aint that hard to understannd now is it, you could have directed your shit at slythe.

yeah i know my last post sounded biased towards ALL kb players. but it wasn’t. it was all directed towards Emil. wasn’t meant to offend anyone else. i play all type of video games its not like KoF is my life. but my point is that Emil doesn’t know how to take others tips who actually have played the game and actually know what they’re talking about into consideration and his personal opinion is his GOD. he hasn’t played xii and he sure as hell talks like he knows what hes talking about. sorry for offending anyone else who plays on kb cuz i know i’ve played on kb and still play on it.

and no i don’t believe my skills are better cuz they’re on stick. i just believe in my skills are better because simply put… they just are.

i also still play on kb at times, but i gotta admit my skillz are sub bar compared to my stick or neo cd pad skillz. you know theres actually people good enough to enter tournaments with kb and who knows maybe even win with them.

but…how could they plug them in? On a more serious note, there’s also macros as well (not saying anyone uses them, but its another strike against kb players…other than the impraticality)

Let’s get back to vids.

It had to be blatantly ripped from youtube, then re-upped under his account.

Our videos are ONLY uploaded to youtube and it’s not like it’s uploaded to megaupload or an FTP for that matter, that’s why we know.

I am also one that has been playing since '94. I never claimed to be good but I have a lot of experience playing in several other countries throughout the years so I DO KNOW what I’m talking about.

For the record, I’m not saying that Emil won’t be good when he plays it; but I know for a fact it’ll take awhile to adjust seeing how everyone at AI has made the same claim (and not just the 5-6 of us that still play, I mean everyone) and ppl that I’ve talked to in HK has echoed the same sentiments as well. I’m sure one of the decline of XII sales in Japan is simply because ppl can’t adjust to it as well.

XII by far, is the hardest to adjust out of all the KOFs compared to the previous ones (and I’m not counting neowaves, NGBC because I never touched those). You have to relearn everything, chain timing’s different, priorities are different, recoveries are different, jump arcs are different. Don’t forget '94 thru XI is built OFF of each other, same sprites etc. This is completely redone; it’s good to be confident, but don’t be naive.

For the record, reading a lot of Emil’s post in the last couple of years I agree with what HeBe said earlier. It’s not that he doesn’t possess understanding of the game, it’s not that he’s not good himself, it’s the way he presents himself on this forums that offends people. I’m not just talking about this post in general; his constructive criticism isn’t very constructive, it’s just pure criticism from what I’ve read.

I gotta know Kane, you say it’s completely different from the earlier one’s (94-XI) right? so does it feel like any other fighting games that you know of… or is it actually just worlds apart from the others ?

Forget it I’m done with EMIL (again) I just don’t understand how he truly believes that his “THEORY” is better than our hands on experience and “FACTS”.

I would love to see EMIL trying to prove that there is no gravity.:xeye:

Hey by the way Kane, here in France we have a guy named " Ken Bogard " who uses his knowledge in fighting games to make them popular among the casual gamers.
He takes the Japanese tournaments matches of Street Fighter 4 and comments them as if it was a Live representation ( of course he writes all the credits on the right side ). He has been doing this for a few months now ( before Street’s console release ) and has become really REALLY popular. A lot of pro gamers appreciate his work as well. Even pro French websites have made news on him :

http://www.gameblog.fr/blog_657_le-nelson-monfort-de-street-fighter-iv

He wanted to do the same thing with KOF XII but… the game isn’t really popular in Japan and only a few videos have players with good level in them.
He lives close to me and i asked him why he wasn’t commenting the Arcade Infinity matches and he told me that it was because there was a copyright on them and he didn’t want to " steal " those videos from you.

The question is, would you lend him your videos ? I think it would help us a lot to make the game a little more popular in France.

Here is his youtube page :

That can actually be a really useful and cool idea to promote the game. Have commentary for the matches, sort of like the live stream of devastation. Helps people understand whats going on and increases interest in the game (should its all done well obviously)

It would be unfair, for me, to compare this to any other game as I have chiefly played the KOF series. I have noticed that the clash/deadlock/sousai system was harder for me to adjust to than say other ppl who have themselves played Third Strike III some that play MOTW.

IMHO, I am NOT saying that it IS like the aforementioned games, but those ppl who have played both KOF and said games, seemingly transition better than ppl that only play KOF which is just my observation. To me, it’s bizarre to do anything BUT block an incoming projectile and it’s certainly counter-intuitive to try to strike it with a strong hit.

Otherwise, it feels like KOF but in a different way, you just have to learn the game all over.

Absolutely, I love that idea! Anything to move the exposure forward. You have my permission to use any of the videos on www.youtube.com/kane317 as long as you make mention where you got them from. If you’re referring to the Arcade Infinity HD direct feed videos we would have to ask Scott’s permission himself (I can contact him if necessary).

I’m not real anal as long as they make mention and give credit to where credit’s due. I just don’t like jonhdee1’s vids coz he doesn’t make any attempt to contact us, he doesn’t label his videos, and pawns them off as his own.

EDIT: After leaving a nice comment on jonhdee1’s channel, " Kane317

Please remove the many KOFXII videoes which are actually a reupload of my originals. "

He had the audacity to write back in my channel (and I purposely didn’t delete it so people can see), " jonhdee1

FIGHT MONTAGE TRAILER!

great gameplay and great stuff! the best KOFXII trailer they’ve done yet.

Sounds interesting… hype + 1

Sounds like a cool start. Now that it has been brought up. Has anybody actually thought of actually doing it in English? Could be the actual players or volunteers or a mixture of 2. Could be a fun project and if its done well, can help with the understanding and exposure of the game. Just spit balling an idea though atm.
