Just two weeks to go and it can be buyed in Japan, yeah. The first impressions on some sites say it’s quite good, so I still have some hopes for a not that buggy and broken game.
^True, Dengeki gave this game an overall score of 90/100 or so!
Won’t care about Famitsu they seem more like RPG fanboys or somethin’
i never saw her wearing underwear ever in garou
i always assumed she was going commando
I’m a big closet KOF fan. I didn’t pick up the first MI cause I thought it would suck and it seems I was right.
But, based on what I’ve seen so far in terms of presentation and the design of the game, it looks awesome. At least from that standpoint it destroies the EX games.
But I’m wondering about the gameplay. Can any of you who played the first tell me what was wrong with it?
Also, I saw talk of a parry. In the character section of the site under lien I saw, just before her super, a trasparent flash a second before super connected, was that the parry?
Also what about the projectiles? For example, I saw that athena’s fireball was instant knockdown. It that only on the heavy input? Are there different properties to the fireball when in close or far range?
Also, what about the juggle counter in the first? Was it a set number with reset off a super or special attack or was it like EX with a certain elevation and time restriction?
I really want to pick this up.
I will play this online…it HAS To come out online.
Even if I have to get the PS3 or X360…I gotta have this.
Richard Meyer is the fucking man i can’t wait to play him in this game.
I’m still not going to get too excited about this game until I actually get my hands on it; MI was SO bad that they’re going to have to do ALOT of work to make it playable.
I have faith in you, SNK!
From what I remember (I never played the game, but was very interested when it first came out):
-
It was possible to hit the opponent while they were down. This would’ve been okay, except that under some circumstances (notably after a sweep), it was possible to execute ~50% OTG combos. As a result, matches often devolved into both players trying to land a random sweep.
-
The game had quite a few bugs. Most of these were merely humorous, but some were pretty serious. In particular, it was possible to cancel the first frame of a cancelable attack into a command grab, and that command grab would always work–even if the opponent was in blockstun!
-
There were a number of infinites and 100% combos.
-
None of this was very hard to find. There was a thread here in FGD about the game, and I believe that within 48 hours of the game’s release someone had found an infinite with Maxima (by just doing a command grab again and again).
No, the parry has a full animation–the parrying character knocks aside the other character’s attack. This was shown in an old video, but I’m not sure if that vid is still available.
This was another complaint–the juggle counter was simply a hard limit on how many hits a combo could go for. There were ways around it (certain moves could break the limit), but overall it seemed like a very lazy approach to preventing 100% combos and infinites (a goal which it didn’t achieve anyway).
Mind you, I’ve got MI2 preordered, so don’t imagine that the negativity in this post means I think you shouldn’t pick the new game up.
Yeah, the OTG problem was the very first thing I noticed with the first installment; that’s serious business there, it shows poor testing by SNK.
I know this is alot to ask, and I usually don’t so this, but could somebody bost a brief system change list? I think I heard a snippit about parrying? That would be interesting.
Thanks.
lol Man, seem like poor testing went on there. I assume this game has some sort of recovery on knockdown?
lmao EX Zangief style. Awesome.
[/quote]
Seems like MK testing method were used on that game. WTF?
Cool. I wonder what the falsh was then? That super looked cool as fuck.
Kinda like MK4 Maximum Damage thing?! What!? lol
Oh well, I’ll still give it a try. The game looks great and hopefully it will play the same. No more EX games means that this is the next best thing.
Thanks man.
Who is Richard Meyer…?
^ An old school Caporiea guy from Fatal Fury
Was this really necessary? Leebee Link simply added the information, for those unable to read Japanese, that the shot refers to him as the Nightmare version.
New vid!
@Kyoujin- yeah the OTGs were the first thing I noticed about the game when I played it :/, but like I said, KoF MI=SFIII NG.
@Geese Pants: Just about the first Capoera character in a fighting game. He is also the one who taught Bob Wilson Capoera IIRC (I could be wrong though).
Yeah, first time is not always successful. Geese Pants, he first appeared in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special or 2, I believe. Great Game:tup:
After watching some vids I must say that this game looks fucking fun as hell.
I saw that ‘hit on gorund’ and even saw some supers chained after a person hit the ground once.
I’m really itching to find out some of the properties of this game…
I haven’t been this exctied about a game since maybe MGS2.
Only a couple things worry me:
- That ninja chick looks crazy good.
- That hit off first bounce thing.
- In one of the vids I saw lien chain 3 supers in a row. Do you guys know if it possible to max out a level 3 or do a level 2 + a level 1? Is there any sort or guage activation like N-Groove or even a type of custom combo propertie to the guage? Also, are you able to cancel supers into other supers DURING a super? I mean like a full cancel?
I also saw Yuri cancel a whole fucking bunch of, what seemed like specials in one vid? Can you do that? Is there a guard break?
Sorry for all the questions but the offical site is only good for story based shit. (still a good story though)

^ For everyone who doesn’t wanan deal with Rapidshare…
So it is “Nightmare” Geese. He looks all zombified and shit and Terry was called “Wild Wolf”? Just call him Terry. Hyena looks and fights like a fag.
Richard was introduced in the first Fatal Fury Game, Fatal Fury 1. I liked his stage music back in the days …
That green Terry outfit sucks sadly, whatever as long as he has his classic and MOTW one I’m happy. His BW better be not a as crappy as in the first MI. But Billy got a nice suit there. Ryo is hopefully a better char this time …^^
Terry’s “Wild Wolf” version has POWAH STREEEEEEM~!
I’m sold.
Maybe they also give him his MOTW/KOF2003 Movelist without the rising tackle in that version …
