The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match

hyperhop is still essential to rushdown, the difference between 98 and XI is you don’t have to rushdown if you don’t want to

So I just saw a couple of 777’s matches. How is he able to move RIGHT after a stomp? That shit looks s pimp. Also, I now see why Krauser is retarded in this game now.

Stomp glitch…when you have no stocks, cancel his B stomp into his qcb hcf+K super. The super won’t come out but Kim will flash and have no recovery on the stomp.

Any Ex gauge Leona users out there? I got some pimp combos now with her. I play Adv. gauge Leona though, but thinking about making a change now after seeing these.

Ex gauge:

cr. b, cr. a xx qcfx2 a+b+c or qcb hcf a+b+c
(corner)cr. c/close st. d xx charge back, fwd a+b+c, qcfx2 p.

For those of you who read what I posted with Robert earlier, and are reading this right now, with the Ex gauge, you can do the motion for the special move or dm, and press a+b+c to Q. Max. Using this method makes dm’s such as the ones you see above, Gravity Storm and Rebel Spark, combo from cr. b, cr. a.

There are a lot more dms, that would not normally combo from cr. b, cr. a, that will using this method. Play around with your characters and find them out.

Ohhhhhhh. That sounds deadly. My Kim would become like 5x better if I can learn than.

Sorry that was a typo in my post I ment; d.A, d.B xx hcb + A.

I’m interested in how to execute combos with said “short cuts”. For example Iori’s: d.B, d.A, f.A xx super. If you try to do it like that (unless your really good at going to neutral and then pressing f.A after d.B and still have it all combo) you will get a fireball when going for f.A.

So what you instead do is d.**, d.A, f.A (release B) hcb + A/C. Ie: hold B to prevent any specials from coming out, but at the same time allow you to buffer (in this case a qcf motion when going from d.B to f.A).

Are there any other examples / tricks like this for combos that on the face it seem really difficult.

How in the blue hell is the dude able to the super out so cleanly. Im fairly sure that there must be a trick to it.

i am having trouble with this ultimate gauge thing like how do i do the cancels or does it matter if i choose run roll ex meter or does it have to be specific can some one help out

df+B, df+A, f+A, DM. Very easy. Or you can use it the hold and release method.

I can’t see this since I’m at work. What’s the combo/situation?

Kyo crouch B, crouch A, DM: crouch B, qcf d+A, qcf+P
Clark crouch B, crouch A, hcbx2+P: crouch B, hcb d+A, hcb+P
Daimon close C, df+C, hcbx2+P: hcb+C, df+C, hcb+P(very quickly)
Chris crouch B, crouch A, f+A, qcfx2+P: crouch B, df+A, f+A, qcfx2=P

But you just said a page before Luigi when Emil posted all those comboes with Kim that you know how to do all those comboes?

That means you really don’t know how to do those comboes because that would mean you would have stomp glitch mastered…

cr.b, cr.a, Rash?mon

To me, it looks like he tried once (cr.b cr.a, no follow-through) and messed up or something so he did it again (cr.b cr.a hcb hcb + AC, boom!). Then again, he may have just been hesitating to make sure that a super would end it (who would wanna blow three stocks for nothing?).

stomp glitch? thats 10 years old already, and kinda hard as well. harder than kyos ex hop infinite.

You don’t need to know stomp glitch to do cr.b, cr.b, cr.a, up kicks. I learned that stuff in 99.

crouch B, hcb d+A, hcb+AC, just like that Clark one I mentioned.

Stomp glitch is nowhere near as hard as the ex kyo infinite, especially in 98 since the bug is done with just hcf+K (should have mentioned this before).

Does that still apply for UM? I still can’t get close up in time to combo like 777 does though. He makes it look so easy.

The best times to try and attempt those combos are when the opponent’s back is turned to Kim, or if they leave themselves open to a big combo opportunity.

Once you get it down though, you can implement it in guard strings and what not. Just practice it. It really is not that hard to do if you have pretty decent execution.

777 is using ultimate mode with dash instead of run, this gives him faster walking speed. This makes comboing after the stomp glitch easier since he just has to hold forward as opposed to timing a run.

if anything it’s harder to follow up than to pull off the cancel itself, in 98 at least his qcb hcf K super can be done as just qcb f K and that helps quite a bit with the cancel

Athena`s trick looks strange. Anyway, nothing game breaking, right?

Doesn’t look like it I don’t think. It would be hype to see that Athena/Robert thing happen in a real match.
