I laugh at all these new school players that think combos win matches.
If you can’t approach somebody, you ain’t gonna do shit.

This is the truth…think Big in NGBC…is he a combo fiend? Hell no…but its hard to get in on his ass…same thing…if you can get in on Big you can beat him…but good luck with that.
Same with Billy in RBS…good luck getting in on him…and that’s what wins for him!
After playing against EX Geese A LOT today, I gotta say that I think he’s good, but not S tier obviously.
People need to learn to not jump so recklessly against him, rolling in on shippukens and double reppukens is a lot easier then jumps.
If I was to guess EX Geese’s tier right now, it would be A-.
Then again, I think Billy is B tier after today as well- it’s crazy how much better he is now with the lower damage taken, slower hops, and fwd+B overhead.
98UM really makes me not want to play other SNK fighters though,. It’s that good in comparison.
EX Geese DOES NOT SUCK!
where are you hearing that Geese/EX Geese sucks? you need to play the game so you can see how awesome your favorite character is! you’ll be happy that EX/Geese doesn’t suck at all!
hell, i’m playing him for shits and giggles now! (also probably because DR is now a ranbu motion… )
Here’s more food for thought though people…you all gotta understand that different tiers exist in different countries…so what may be S tier in Japan may be A- here…but still we can’t decipher all of that until we have a few Major tournaments under our belts…
Thai- Read above…some are saying hes (EX) horrible and sucks in this game pretty much.
He’s gonna be a main of mine (both versions) I am telling you all that RIGHT NOW.

As of right now, I don’t think any character is unuseable in tourney play- except maybe EX Joe (but he might be). That said, some chars do have a higher learning curve, and Krauser and Iori can be played by chimps.
i can assure you he’s very good at controlling space. he can be a chore to get in.
Goddamn you all piss me off. EX Geese is the superior Geese. He has an easier time ranging people. You can’t jump on him, especially if he has a level. His raging storm is way faster that regular Geese and has a further hit detection. All EX Geese needs to do is stay at mid range. And if someone is doing Jai Ei Kens, they deserve to be punished. That move should only be done on hit detection. You can’t meaty him on the floor. In fact, you need to stay away from him while his on the floor if he has a bar. And of course, he has the unblockable. Regular Geese needs to stay on the inside to be able to do anything. I think EX Geese is a more boring character, but a much more effective one. I’ll call it right now, if I’m not working during Evo, I’ll play anyone’s regular Geese against my EX Geese for money.
That seems to fit the Japanese style of play also!!!
I might accept that even though I’ll only have like 1-2 weeks to play the game lol.
Hell I may even do a EX Geese -EX Geese exhibition or some shit I know you down no?
Good analysis BTW.
I’m telling people they can’t jump to conclusions… Not yet…
Lets try a year or so and revisit the topic…

But if you cant get them off of you you’re not gonna do shit.
Nobody has said EX geese sucks, as an outright statement only in relation to normal geese, i think a few of you need to be reminded of this
i have to agree with fullmetalross also, you’re completly underestimating the fact that there are many great players all over the world ( excuse the sf 1 referance)
people that maybe have been playing 98 since 1998 SHOCK HORROR! and while yes this is 98 UM the basic fundamentals are more or less the same, but hey lets ignore them because they’re not asian or playing at sbo or whatever.
It boils down to this
EX geese V Geese
What does EX geese have?
An annoying projectile, with terrible start up but ok recovery
A DM grab, which i might add does ok but not great damage, ALSO lets not forget it puts them right back at ex geese feet
A raging storm which is completly shit, it has no invinceabilty what so ever
An air fireball which is so easy to avoid so easy to punish it’s unreal
ok what does geese have?
deadly rave, a great anti air, easily confirmable form down B,A making it both a good defensive and offensive tool, what would you prefer? this or holy gates?
a raging storm that is actually good, which does have invincabilty both lower and upper body, making it a viable reversal unlike EX geeses
a low counter which can lead to a super
an air projectile which is excellent at keeping people away
a dp with autoguard frames, which can lead to a super
but hey dont listen to me i dont know anything, you just wait for japan to tell you the obvious.
ok normal geese does not have a projectile big fucking deal? the way i see it if you think EX geese is better it can only be for this reason whever you’re right or wrong time will tell, but think about.
reppuken > solid anti airs, reversals, EXCELLENT punishing?
ok then
You have 98UM? I have to get on that.:woot:
I’m down.
And Leon, EX Geese has a much faster Raging Storm and if either one of them get blocked, then you are getting punished either way.
I’m not gonna say EX Geese > Geese, I noticed the things Virtua Leon mentioned when I played the game recently. Raging Storm is an early anti air only, which is difficult to able to react in time to do anyway. I think he’s a character that will be better at the beginning, but people will figure out how to roll and punish. Normal Geese has more tools to be a better overall character from what I’ve seen.
However, I don’t think EX version will ever “suck”. I saw that and had to say something.
edit: Oh yeah, and wasn’t Geese higher than EX in that tier list? Granted, not sure that thing was anywhere near official.
Well just make sure you find me if you are there…not only so I can put you in the tournament but so we can have our EX-Geese matches etc and get them recorded so you can show people what you are talking about…
I’ve noticed EX Geese has mad problems with Krauser and Rugal…can anyone shed light on this matchup?
so what? if you can get hit out of it at the start up what good is it?
so you predict they jump? normal geeses has invincabiltys which makes that arugument redundent, and lets not forget it’s not exactly slow coming out
zoning is just one aspect of a chracters amoury, maybe ex geese is better at long range nobody will dispute that, but this is kof not st i’d much rather a chracter who can do multiple things, and if you look at all the good chracters in kof they excel in being able to multiple things, that’s not to say ex cannot do those things he can, i just belive normal geese does them better
EX’s still has a better hit detection. Normal Geese’s is good, but doesn’t reach out. EX’s moves out about a 1/4 character than it’s actual placement. EX is designed for zoning vs Regular who has to stay inside. The problem is that there are other characters who are better on the inside than either Geese. Both Geese’s should never be rushed down as both have a ton of options to get themselves out. But, if you range Reg Geese, he can’t do much. EX can range back. As an actual character, EX is better.
Question, which character is better at battery, EX Geese or regular?
Regular.
