Yeah I can see the EX’s being the new top tier…
The old top tier is probably A Class…like in NeoWave with one of the older top tier still being top tier…
Thats how I see it working out…in NeoWave the new characters are tops…

Who’s going to AI tonight?
Heavy D! is nasty!!! DAAAAAAMN, that was the stuff I was waiting to hear, good.
I still use him in 98 as my battery char, i hope he becomes deadlier now.
OFF TOPIC QUESTION: DG why is Jhun so good in NW?
hey geese is the game out already
He is not played as a grappler. As you said, it’s just one of his tools. But Daimon definitely seems to be played as a grappler.
When the opponent is moving around (trying to jump/run/whatever), Daimon isn’t going ot be thinking about landing throws, he will be thinking about poking or anti-airing. But it’s the same with O Yashiro. When the opponent is relatively close, their main goal is to use the fact that they have grabs, to either land grabs or get people to be hit by their normals (throw mindgames). I think this is what defines a character as a grappler…someone who gameplay revolves around scaring the opponent into wanting to avoid your grabs so that they get hit by other shit. While Iori CAN do this, that’s not what his gameplay revolves around…his offense in general is hard to block without him having a command grab, but O Yashiro/Daimon’s offense is easy to block without the grabs.
Would you definie Vice as a grappler? I would.
He’s basically 2k Jhun with extra stuff he can do in this game via the SC system etc…so take 2k Jhun and put him in this game and yeah…top tier…yes he even has Dragon Step Infinite…and with Heat etc he can add more damage to that and his aerial super etc…
Arcade yes…console nope…If it was I’d be giving my own spill…I can only hope that on 4/29 as Oscar says the game hits console…because thats just enough time to practice up for MWC… I’m gonna find something broken that is all mine.I assure you all!!
It would be cool if instead of breaking throws, extra users could reverse throws (like in a certain somewhat mediocre alpha denshi series)…for less damage than a reg throw, of course. I mean, shit, give people some incentive to choosing extra.
It’s cool to see EX mode may be something you see a lot more people using. I will certainly play around with it some. I’ve always found dodging to be fun and unique, but in 98 it wasn’t worth it to me.
I was playing on EX mode this days on regular 98 and it surprised me how nasty dodge can be, i mean, its a pain when Gai on XI dodges pretty much everything you throw at him…but 3 chars that can do the same? its just wow.
Main problem is that your characters feel stiff in Ex mode…you can’t run and you can’t roll…
But on the bright side, you can punish things with dodge that you would be unable to punish with roll, such as Robert’s air qcb+K (yes there is actually a way to guard roll and punish this move but it’s hard and you can’t really do a very damaging combo to punish).
Reverse throws in KoF system is retarded. This is my biggest beef with KoF NB EX2 on GBA. Because it’s so easy to reverse throws(same motion as breaking throws in other KoF), plus ALL strikers have combos starting from throws, turtling becomes too effective. Of course 98UM doesn’t have striker, but breaking throws are enough.
lol yeah lets give people even less incentive to use normal throws than there is already
if extra mode dodge doesnt have vulnerability at the end then its gonna be super gay
Hmmm, okay: reverse command throws, break regular?
someone take match vids plz of 98UM

As for grappler-based chars- Vice is probably the closest to a pure grappler, then Shermie- though Shermie uses her poke game as well. Krauser may end up a grappler of sorts given that his normals are supposedly not as good as people anticipated.
I disagree, and think it’s the opposite.
Shermie is the closest in KOF of being a pure grappler, because her pokes aren’t that great.
Vice has MUCH better pokes, in fact her pokes are very good.
Stand far C, Stand CD, stand B, down A, all of these are very good pokes.
Down+C with Vice is also a good poke as an AA. st.a also.
LOL
You forget that it’s SNK-PLAYMORE we’re discussing here. Seriously, dude. How can you expect SNKP to release US version within 2 months HAR HAR
You also forget that the PS2 version of the game was COMPLETE since long before the Arcade version was released.
I haven’t been much of a Mature player since 98, but she now (according to vids) has a snake arm that launches? Is there a follow-up?
the vids show her following it up with her running grab super, you could probably follow it up with just about anything else if you wanted though
