Hey Emil, can you super cancel o.chris’ dp+C into his D,C,d,C,D HSDM? I can’t get it to work. Tell me if it combos. Also, can you combo his orochinagi (qcbhcf+P DM) at all?

You can’t supercancel HSDMs…and yes, I thought I listed that combo for Orochi Chris…Close C(or Far C(1)), f+A, qcb hcf+A.

Finally got around to reading the wiki, I’ve settled on a starting team of Billy, Takuma and Yamazaki for now.

For Billy, I’m liking cross-up :snkd: > :d::snkb: :d::snkb:, :r::snka: follow up :snkc::snkd: > :hcf::snkc: > :qcf::snkc: to push them back.

I’m liking Takuma because it seems like a:
(Cross-up/Non CU) :uf::snkb: > :snka: (blocked) :r::hcf::snkc: > :qcf::hcb::snka: combo would be deadly to most random scrubs, and I love how he can go from a low to an overhead into his DM.

You said that :qcf::snkc: breaks guard, but is there anything I can really do with it?

I’m not sure…I think they can roll and punish that badly. Usually after that combo, I do another f+A…or I wait for them to roll (which they usually do) and combo them again.

No, noobs are going to mash you between the A and f hcf+C. Also, don’t supercancel that move, it’s stupid. After the guard break, you can do any combo, including something like crouch B, f+B, DM.

You don’t have enough time to do any combo. You can free cancel into qcb+P if you are in maxmode, but that isn’t practical…

We need to make an Ontario KOF 2K2 gathering sometime.

Do you actually watch the videos I post? I’m surprised you haven’t commented…especially on the last two.

Haven’t seen the last two. The other mexican ones were good, but the footage quality was garbage and I didn’t enjoy watching them. I don’t really have a lot to comment since playwise, I’m not that strong with strategical descisions. I still lose to Joe, K’ and Robert shotoness far too often. Still though, nothing beats the jap vids on orochinagi, and seeing people do crazy maxmode combos in real matches. Something I can’t do. Heck I can’t even combo cl.C BC cl.C consistently. The guy I play against plays the game very sf2ish and it’s a completely different experience from what high level play is like. He uppercuts literally everything and when i bait and block/back dash/roll I still don’t know how to punish effectively. Then he throws me if I bait too much. Psychic supers too. I’m too afraid to play standard pressure mixup games. I never meaty any more cause he uppercuts/throws/supers me out of it 100%. Hell, he uppercuts my Ralf s.D’s s.C’s c.C’s cl.C’s and s.CD’s.

And like I said, I play characters with horrible reversals and I eat c.B c.B walk up throw a lot.

These mexicans are clearly better than those japanese guys. I notice that the japanese guys in the video don’t even attempt to anti-air anything, which is probably why they get hit by combos so much. They let the guy jump all over them, which just doesn’t happen with these mexicans. With these videos…jump and die, which enforces some of the points I was making before about why I think jumping is actually not that good. Also, in Mexico, CHOI IS NOT TOP TIER. He gets owned the moment he leaves the ground. In mexico, top tiers are probably Kim, Iori, Angel and May Lee.

Also from those japanese matches, the only difficult max combo done was the K9999 one and it’s only difficult because you need to cancel on exactly the 5th hit of the f+A, into dp+A. Other than that, it’s easy.

Nah, I remember one mexican match, where a clark rolls in the corner after Vanessa jumps in on him. He got a throw for that, when the Vanessa player should have. I never roll jump ins cause, it’s usually pretty easy to throw. Especially in the corner. And actually, jumping in can be pretty safe. Some characters don’t have jack for anti-air. May-Lee for instance can’t do anything about cross ups on wakeup.

I mean outside of wakeup…like if I’m just standing there.

Anyway, new updates made, alot for KUsanagi, as well as more thorough movelists (with notes) for other characters like Ryo, Seth, etc. Plan on writing up Yamazaki and Iori in the next few days…

My favorite characters in KOF2k2 are Iori, Yamazaki and Ryo. You’re my hero, Emil.

Btw, wikipedia is fixed for the most part (it was giving errors, preventing it from being edited). More updates have been made, as well as more on the way.

Hey thanks once again for the wiki stuff. I’ve finally learned May to an extent and the Shermie/O.Shermie pages have definitely helped as well.

I’m curious. Who are the other two characters on your team if you’re using Angel or May?

Eh, the Shermie/O.Shermie pages are almost empty…I haven’t had time to do them due to lack of interest for those characters.

One of my teams are Whip, Angel and May Lee, or Whip, May Lee, Vanessa. I keep Whip first due to a strategy I have with her CD…since her CD is invincible, you can get people blocking CD to f+Ax5 (if they have no stock, which they probably won’t since Whip is placed first and it is the beginning of the match). If they block that CD, f+Ax5 twice, the next time it will guard crush.

re: Shermie
The blockstrings and combos to her DM’s/SDM’s were enough, I didn’t have to learn anything from scratch. Well, that and the stuff that you and callme brought up here (and probably at the other threads at well). I just decided to give it another go. I don’t mind the updates as of late, what is there will do for now.

Edit- Or was. The 2k2 wikipage is returning database error as of now for some reason

Thanks again

I can post stuff for O.Shermie etc just for me I play 50+games and I am trying to stay ontop of all of them.

I am curious FYI why you guys do not play NeoWave? I don’t get it…what turns you off about it?

Yes that is a strategy I use with Whip too in 2k2/NW…man she is soo much better in 2k2/NW than XI…its sad hw raped she got in XI…really really sad…

They took NeoWave out at my local arcade to put in XI, which I think was a pretty good idea haha.

NeoWave doesn’t strike me as a bad game at all, I guess I prefer the character selection in 2k2 though.

I like the crisper feel of NeoWave better…I love both games…and I look at NeoWave as 2k2 #R hence yes everything in this thread I understand it and do it…

But I do it on NeoWave…

The PS2 version is the complete version CrimsonDisaster…

It has more characters than the Arcade and XBOX versions just about rounding off the 2k2 character selection with the missing 2k2 characters in the game.

So I can have an upgraded complete 2k2 in the ps2 version of NeoWave and have my May Lee, Angel, tweaks, many many changes, priority changes, new tiers, new matchups…

Young Geese,

too many things IMO which is why I favor NW…but like almost everything in 2k2 applies directly to NW…that is what people don’t get…plus theres a shitload of new stuff to discover…
