What’s the deal with Angel and May Lee? I know that Angel has an infinite that is pretty difficult and I’ve read something about cancelling some moves with hcf+D (I think it was a post made by you), but what makes them the characters with the most potential? The infinite? Combos?
godly mixup.
Sorta like Choi’s but there’s has way more options.
But watch Emil, he’s going nuts on the updates today.
so many mixups you’ll never know what to do. block high? block low? jump? Angel has unblockables and grabs in her moveset too. and i think one of her combo enders has her run behind you.
and an entire group of people working on a huge kof strategy…wikis are indeed great.
You mean Emil? Yeah, the guy’s a fucking machine.
I’m just copying and pasting my info…except the strategies for some characters, which needs to be redone.
For any of the characters i did mention strats for (such as Vanessa, Athena, etc), is there anything that is missing/wrong?
I question your Kusanagi combos, but I’m not sure, cause I’m pretty sure you get qcbhcf+P twice off kicks in corner. But maybe that’s Kyo only. I’ll have to check, and I don’t have time now, but one or both of them can do sc.C qcf+B,B hcb+B (or forward whichever one launches them) then qcbhcf+P then qcbhcf+P. You use the delay timing thing. Just like how you get the qcbhcf+P off df+D maxmode cancel.
My combos don’t contain two qcb hcf+P’s…I think my notation got messed up there. The qcb hcf+AC(2) means only two hits connect, such that you can do a dp+C after. The max combo that ends with:
qcb hcf+P/(qcb hcf+AC(2), dp+C)
means you can either end with qcb hcf+P, or instead do a the SDM with two hits and a dp+C after it.
As for Kusanagi being able ot do two DMs, I believe he can’t.
Do you think we can put “CD cancels into all specials and DMs” under basics, as opposed to continuously putting it under move properties. Then just list exceptions to this rule.
concern: If you click on Kyo’s name, it takes you to a page about kyo. What if someone wanted to edit this information for 98 Kyo? It would be better to put it on a page called Kyo '02 or something if possible
Yeah, a section on non-KOF 2002 stuff would have to be made.

I feel like I want to add some stuff on the Shermie section. I’m sure there are some more combos/strings involving :hcf: :k:. There are also ways to combo into the HSDM. Close :snkb: mainly.
Is close :snkc: and jump :snkc: unsafe or shall I include close C->Spiral combos in the wiki?
stick with B. That’s all I use when I play shermie. Cause her B is always the 2 hit cancelable version, doesn’t need to be close at all. So broken. You meaty with B outside of throw range, and still combo it to hcf+P throw.
I also don’t like how emil listed both qcf+P and hcfx2+P super, when neither of these will combo at far range after 2 hits.
EDIT: Just fixed all the names. Hope nothing got lost in the shuffle, I know SRK timed out on me at some point before I finished.
Alright, cool. I’ve been playing more '98 and the B there might be different compared to 2002’s. I’ll try and help if I can.
I guess…there aren’t many exceptions, but I’ll just list some. First, Ramon cannot cancel his CD, and neither can May Lee in hero mode. Second, Iori, Seth, Ryo and possibly some others I forgot, can cancel to command moves as well as specials and DMs.
^K’ is part of the latter group afaik
Yes but the combo is useless. I believe the SDM does more damage than the HSDM anyway. I know the max combo for the SDM/HSDM though, it’s A, B(1 hit), BC, C, SDM/HSDM.
Edit: oops, double posted
Edit2: No K’ is not in that group.
Ah. SDM Carnival?
About some of the new stuff added…
For Athena:
-j.qcb+B, j.qcb+D or j.qcfx2+K
I don’t see any way they can punish the qcb+B. They can’t even throw her. As for qcb+D, it is punishable but since I did not include it anywhere in my strats, there isn’t really any reason to mention it. D Phoenix arrow is not a good move outside a combo. And as for Phoenix fang arrow, the best they can do is guard roll out of way, then throw out a fireball or some other move, which will hit her…but even then, that DM has a weird hitbox, I’ve been hit out of alot of attempted counters and the blast wasn’t even near me.
For Kyo:
-qcf+A is punishable? The only way I see is if you keep doing the whole chain. But I don’t see how just one qcf+A can be punished.
-cancelling sweeps to hcb+B will get you punished…that move is not good
-I’m pretty sure qcf+A, (qcf+A)x3 does not work in 2002…it does work in 2003 and kofxi (well, the two qcf+A’s that is).
-I don’t see how this combo works: 3. sc.C qcf+D,D hcb+B (s) qcbhcf+P qcbhcf+P (3 stock) Edit: This only works if the first qcb hcf+P is an SDM
-this combo requires too many cancels: (C, BC run C)/(Crouch B, Crouch A, df+D, BC), qcf+C. ©qcf+A, ©qcf+C, ©qcf+A, © qcf+C © qcf+A © qcf+DD hcb+B (s) qcbhcf+P/qcbhcf+PP (3 or 4 stock). You can’t really utilize the SDM after cancelling that many times. In fact, there are 6 cancels there, which isn’t really possible, since each cancel removes 1/5th of the bar.
For Yamazaki:
-hcf+K does not reverse most lows, and some special moves (such as Vapour cannon).
I’m pretty darn sure you can throw Athena during her grounded recovery animation of both qcfx2+K and qcb+B, but you know best.
qcf+A you can reactionary punish, either with an auto guard move, counter. Or on block a long sweep or rush throw.
yeah, my bad it doesn’t work in 02.
yeah, you’re right. SDM then DM.
Probably, I never count I just do it. I don’t even look at my bar, I just do it a few times then when it feels right, I cancel into super.
I think you can command throw her out of qcb+B (but not if you do it in the corner, off f+B…that one is not punishable since she is pushed back way too far). For qcfx2+K, she has no recovery whatsoever.
I haven’t been punished out of that move…you might be able to rush throw it, but no one’s ever done it (I jump out in time). Maybe they are too slow in executing the throw.
I added K’ move set and some basic combos. This one I’m not so sure about…
Crouch B, Crouch A, qcf+C, f+D, qcb+C~A/qcf hcb+P
How do you possibly combo the HSDM if the opponent is in the air?
