and the problem is…?
ppl play whatever they like… korean still play 2000 & chinese still play 97… i think it’s a good thing
There is no problem. The question was why? Why do they predominantly play KOF 2000 still?
Is it the water? Was it a really strong arcade scene from the year 2000 that still holds a strong player base to this day?
I can make sense of the '97, '98 and 2K2 love that the rest of the world holds for those titles. But Korea seems to be a pocket of high level play since forever for KOF 2000.
Is there a Korean player on these boards that has the answer? Otherwise it’s just going to turn into a giant flame war thread of speculation.
Only on SRK can you ask a simple question and need to put your fists up.
Umm, who cares. That’s like wondering why America has so much love and high level play in MvC2 when the rest of the world doesn’t. It’s just how it is.
Well I’m sure it’s more complicated than “It’s just how it is”. Since game companies spend big money on market researchers just to know answers to those types of questions. But I’ll take it for now and be on my way.
there is some korean user in here but i don’t know.
and about the strong arcade scene for kof2k in Korea… i would say that it’s not the case, the video i uploaded were from a single arcade in a korean city…i really dont expect any big strong arcade scene for this game anymore.
Mostly i think play kof98/2k2og-um
usually i am in the kof 2k room in ggpo if anyone wants to play.
What’s your handle
i think korean players have a taste for flashy/cool combos and stuff, so in their history they tend to like games that are a bit on the wild side. i heard samsho 4 was also very popular there

Just a quick correction to Dandy’s first post.
I’m from Kuwait not Pakistan
Wow, sorry… I knew that too. Fixed.
I had a question, the stages from the dreamcast version appear in the PS2?
I want to see those, I heard that this were old SNK stages, from previos KOF and even metal slug, I would love to see some pics or a video

not as good as the korean’s though
Just because the koreans play faster doesn’t mean they play better. The Japanese matches have more respect for various situations, and smarter gameplay. Overall I found the Japanese matches better.
gosh…are u serious?
Posting in epic thread with a little combo of mine

Hatred Edge and I just go finished doing some sets in this game awhile ago (and are about to do some more); was wondering a few things:
- Tier List? I know King, Kyo, etc are tops, what about everyone else?
- I can’t seem to TK Leona’s air super (qcf, hcb+P) in this game, however I can TK X-Calibur and Kasumi’s Kasane Ate just fine.
^ I asked DandyJ a while back, IIRC he said the tops are Jhun, Lin, and K’. It’s not difficult to see why when you use A.Iori striker. And he also mentioned Kyo and Chang. Some one mentioned that the Mexican tier list is Clark > *, probably because they use [Joe striker OTG]x2 to do easymode 100%s. Though some one mentioned that Koreans softban the use of strikers multiple times per single combo, which would make Clark a bit less retarded in Korean tournaments.
Is the striker either A.Iori or Joe for K’ to be able to combo into Chain Drive from the summon?
And what is the combo anyway? I’ve seen it but so little that I can’t remember.
