That honda was ass.real talk.
lol
The only time he AA’d was the VERY end of the last round. What the hell.
Here’s a set featuring very solid Sagat play by Pie:

he would have won that first match if he AA. but understandable akuma is scary as hell on the the ground.
Wondered why he was letting him away with so many close jumps but he clicked on in the later matches with the st.mp.
Nice matches.
Poor Sagat and his hit box… so anoying!

lol…what about the hist box is annoying in that match? That guy just plain blows as Sagat(no offence).
what was annoying was how ass that sagat was
Hello fellow Sagat players. I’m on vacation from work, so I uploaded a couple of videos of online matches I played last week. I hope you guys enjoy!

So, I fought Infiltration on stream in Winner’s Semi-Finals of my pool this past weekend at Season’s Beatings. I took the first game, but I’m actually pretty upset at how I played. (Looking back, I’ve watched the match well over a dozen times now) I gave him way too much respect, dropped punishes, didn’t do anything at critical times, just…played like crap, lol.
For those who are interested:
http://www.twitch.tv/consolecombat/b/3338681702:00:19 timestamp. I’ve physically taken notes down in a notebook on where/what I did wrong, but figured that nonetheless I would post it up anyways. Gonna continue to grind it out and try to play smarter, that was my ultimate downfall. Critical and miscellaneous things I noticed:
1.) I jumped way too much, I should have just taken the damage that I got and ran with it, as opposed to continually trying to jump in.
2.) Going hand-in-hand with #1, I should have kept my feet on the ground and tried to push him to the corner to lock him down position-wise, which I didn’t do.
3.) Several times I just sat there and neutral jumped the fireball as opposed to chucking my own and building meter/matching him. This was tournament nerves, and nerves of having to play him. I was completely scared and respected him way too much.
4.) I tried Dash Ultra 2 twice. The first time I wanted to see if I could punish him at all, and the 2nd time it seemed like I was actually a bit closer to him than I was, so I wanted to try it again. In retrospect, I shouldn’t have risked it or done that. I personally like Ultra 2 vs. fireball characters, but I may reconsider Ultra 1 now for the damage.
5.) When he whiffed those few demon flips, I didn’t punish him for it like I could and should have. Especially when I had Angry Scar stocked, a raw DP out of the air would have taken a nice chunk, and given me some good momentum. A couple others went unpunished, and again, like I said above, I was scared and didn’t know what to do. Brain Fart, if you will.
6.) As Combofiend said, I shouldn’t have played the patient game in games 2 and 3. I should have continued to be more aggressive since he was comfortable playing the traditional fireball war and such. The reason that I didn’t do this in game 2 is because I figured that since I was relatively aggressive in the first game, that he would meet me on my terms and in turn, play me aggressive. (Like Combofiend mentioned) That didn’t work out, so I was kinda mind-effed at that. I should have adapted and re-established a rushdown game though, and I didn’t.
7.) The j.hp -> c.hp at the start of game 1 was because I saw the focus flash. I didn’t want to risk a DP in case he timed the backdash perfectly and I whiffed, so I went for a safer option. In retrospect I could have tiger knee’d him, but I felt more comfortable doing a safer option under the pressure. There was another point where I did it, but could have gotten much more damage off of the j.hp as opposed to another c.hp. Again, under the pressure and I was scared. It looked terribly scrubby, imo.
8.) Finally, I didn’t utilize jump back fierce enough in the matchup when he was in the air. That’s my go-to for the matchup and for a lot of things air wise, and I should have known better on that front.
And that’s literally just a few things that I noticed. Sorry for letting you guys of the Sagat army down. I’ll continue to train and try to come back stronger. :’(
I was watching that. Honestly thought you had his number after taking that first game pretty convincingly. Good shit. Is gouken a hard match for sagat?
Also the wesker cosplay, whether intended or not, is godlike!
Thank you, sir. Yeah, I had people for the rest of the weekend (and still people inboxing me or texting me that watched the stream) giving me props for the performance. Really wish I could have taken it, though. And after doing all the re-watching and note-taking, I truly feel that on the inside I could have done it. But alas, it didn’t happen, and I’ll come back stronger next time.
As for it being a hard match, I personally don’t feel that it is, it’s 5-5 imo. While Gouken has a great fireball game, I like to think that when Sagat gets up close (and if he gets a knockdown) that he can press the advantage. However Gouken has options as well, so it goes back and forth. I’m not the greatest Sagat so I wouldn’t take my word as law, it’s just my personal opinion in my experience playing.
And thank you! I was kinda half cosplaying, with the sunglasses and such, although I still wore my TFA shirt as that was competition day. People don’t even refer to me as Stephen or “Kiu” half the time anymore, they legit call me “Wesker” IRL because of how much I look like him. Within 5 minutes of entering the venue Yipes/Dieminion/Noel/Eduardo (and more) had all seen me and were like “Oh my god IT’S WESKER!” lol. It’s a persona that’s quickly developed over the past few years I’ve been competing. Heck, one guy that I played in pools I heard talking in the background of a match that was recorded by my friend later in the day (after this was all done) said “I had to play one of the TFA guys first round, the guy that looks just like Wesker”, lmao. XD
Hi guys ive kinda been taking time off sf4 didn’t really prepare for this major but still scraped top 8… My execution and anti air was off this tourney but yea thought i’d post it up.

saw your matches heavy. It’s mostly as you said, execution errors and missed punishes were prime reasons why you were loosing some rounds.
But against ero oyaji i noticed, and this is something i see in alot of sagat, the fear to anti air akuma. I myself need a bit of frame studying to perfect the situations and get a compedium of anti airs and ranges that should and can be used against the little messatsu bastard, but what i have gained trough knowledge is that s.mp will beat alot of air tatsu crap that akuma throws out and even normal canceled demon flips, so i find it very usefull in this matchup.Neutral jump HP might be the safest anti air against him, but also light TU might be a better choice to anti air for the autocorrects, but on knockdown its really best to not attempt reversal on his vortex. However if you see a fireball mixup then you should always h.TU reversal to get hit by the fireball and reset yourself by quickstanding afterwards and getting out of the vortex, which i saw you do once. Remember that you can also focus dash / focus release akuma’s 2nd s.hk and his ex air fireballs focus backdash the first one is generally safe and can provide you with ex tu option afterwards if hes high enough because youll be in invulnerable frames as opposed to attempt it while the 1st air fireball is out
Generally the point when akuma installs fear on your mind to anti-air , it’s game over for you.
One more thing, why ultra 1 vs akuma and ryu? (noticed you switch vs toxy). The extra damage is nice, but over the utility that ultra presents?
yeah i know uber i just get mindfucked by akuma cos ero and toxy are really good. I beat ero most times but toxy i struggle with. It’s a mind fuck type of thing. he kinda taught me alot and was there when i first started and we’ve played thousands of times… It’s a player thing with u1 for the ryu and akuma. both ultras are good against those characters depends on their playstyle which you should pick. i was speaking about this with mago and tokido and they agreed. if i were vsing daigo i’d use ultra 2 for sure. Ero hardly fireballs or teleports. His style is walk forward and aggressive he’s more a tokido style of akuma. Against that style i believe ultra 1 is the way to go. Then i saw bonchan does the same thing and he is imo best sagat vs akuma. So it basically confirmed it for me bonchan switches between u1 and u2 for the akuma matchup. Against tokido he always uses u1.
with focusing his stand hard kick against really good akumas that doesnt work. toxy blows me up for it. because he react shk same with ero. its far too risky you eat shk tatsu knockdown combo. so huge health loss as well as kd. Imo the better option is to poke it neutral jump it or just block. focus can indeed work but very very risky. It will work against akumas who just throw it out there but ero and toxy are not careless with it’s use. I’ve been vsing them since vanilla and hit them with focus many times so they now mainly use shk on reaction. We basically play eachother alot and know eachothers game so it’s sometimes different layers of mind games
yeah i was thinking as much, good akumas wont s.hk in the range you can focus dash the 2nd one and throw it, just saw eroyaji throw out some in those situations.
I see, fireball players u2 and u1 when you feel you will need the damage
