It sucks we never got the arcade version at GW, but at least we’ll have the console version shortly. I look forward to playing you guys online (assuming it’s decent enough this time).
Hope so, because it would be nice to come home, grab a sixer and play some online KOFXIII after work or just to chill in general. If the netcode sucks, it means I’m gonna have to leave my place to go to other’s peoples houses.
So, I probably spent about 10 hours playing today and can say this is a great console port of a really fun arcade fighter. I have not tried online yet and have heard a lot of mixed feelings about it. I won’t bother trying it until I feel comfortable with a team (maybe sometime tomorrow).
I hope more people buy this game and play, because KoF13 is really good. If you’re on edge about getting the game, I’d say buy it. Frys.com has it on sale for $39.96 which is the cheapest I’ve seen it.
Finally got the game today. The feel of the game is just great, hard to explain why but… it’s similar enough to 2002 UM to me, but much more lenient with the input buffer. There’s also a “meaty” quality to how this game feels, which is a bit different than pre-12 KOF games. I like it, but it’s like the feel is somewhere between 2002UM and 12. And I totally dig it.
Kim is interesting. Similar to 12, he does not have the arsenal he used to but I’m liking him anyways (but hey, I actually enjoyed Kim in 12). Some things I found interesting so far:
-a good player can hit-check hopping LP --> (air) qcf+K
-a mediocre player (like me) can over-commit by doing d,df,f,uf+LP --> keeping holding uf and press any Kick to combo into the (air) qcf+K (without doing an extra motion). This does give up the hop though as this will result in an obvious jump instead.
-In the corner, (air) qcf+K can be followed up by mashing HK (well you don’t have to mash it but you can) at the end of the sequence.
-Very easy to cancel D,u+K --> desperation move or qcf+K
-Enjoying my scrubby Kim, but I do miss his old qcb+P attacks that he used to have prior to 12.
These are all scrubby stuff, but I am enjoying the simplicity of the current Kim. I’m sure that his Hyper combos will be nuts and hard to do though.
Yeah so, I’m waiting for my KOF XIII expecting the UPS man to show up anytime, go to school, check the tracking and apparently it’s been delivered. I’m thinking “wtf…?” Look closer and it’s being delivered by USPS. Haven’t checked my mail box in like two weeks, so hopefully it’s still chilling in there, lol. Not home, and won’t be for awhile…gross.
Rcadio or BBH we should try some games tonight if it’s indeed still in my mail box…>_<
Portland to Portland connection for me was good although it felt like the game has this weird tendency to vary the amount of input lag from match to match. Like, it started out really good but then gradually got worse? Maybe I’m just imagining things but that’s how it felt to me.
Portland to Seattle… I ran into VagrantLest the other day who’s up there somewhere, right? It was a 3-bar connection and was pretty much unplayable. :\
If anyone else wants to test sometime, send LordBBH a message on xbl… my friends list is full so I gotta find someone to delete to add someone else
What’s the word on cleaning up this thread. The videos are cool, but maybe they should be put in spoiler tags labeled “Taiwanese play 2010” etc. etc. Maybe there can be a list of players as well and the first post linking to the SRK Wiki and Dandy J tutorial.
