What teams are you guys playing. I’m really struggling to find a seamless team mate for Kazuya. I started with Poison but poor switch cancel opportunities were frustrating. Now I’m playing Nina and it’s the same thing.
I’ve messed with Chun li (LLegs to st. Fierce is gdlk) but I don’t like her anti air options…
Kazuya/Lili. He doesn’t use much meter and his EWGF combos build a lot of meter for her in return. She has a good high/low mixup as well as good crossups with j.MK and EX Divekick which can lead to launching into Kazuya for good damage. Her launcher is unique in that it doesn’t suffer from the usual launcher damage scaling which makes her launch combos into Kazuya all the more damaging. I don’t really use switch cancel outside of a few situations since comboing into her launcher is so good of an option. She also has an amazing AA, some good anti-roll tech, and can restand from Kazuya’s Slaughter Hook, but I haven’t messed around with that too much yet.

I could only get 2x ewgf after tgf. Nothing else connected. Maybe it has something to do with how I set it up with the Akuma tatsu uppercut juggle.

thanks. I think I tried to rush down but my mix ups aren’t successful. Like I heard rufus got badly nerfed and ryu doesn’t really have mix ups. I think ryu can be punished for doing his medium strings? So basically I just need more experience? This character is so scary even without his jumps.
meh, can’t get mist step to come out during a hit other than mishima backfist since it’s already a forward input. This Tekken fused with SF thing can be frustrating sometimes.

My experience with Kazuya vs. Guile.
I actually think Kazuya is even with Guile or maybe a slight advantage to Kazuya. Guile’s Cr. Mk and Cr. mp are really good against Kazuya.
Kazuya’s b. hk is a incredible tool vs. Guile at close range, he can’t just sit with down-back without risk. Guile’s cr. mk is a risk vs Kazuya’s st. hp because, if you hit Kazuya with Cr. Mk, St. Hk you get only so much damage, but Kazuya gets 480-500+ damage from a full St. hp Ewgf combo. Kazuya’s Lk. Tatsu goes over Cr. mk, on counter-hit, Kazuya can follow-up on it. EWGF can nullify sonic booms at long-mid range, without Guile being to punish Kazuya, because of the recovery on EWGF. EWGF is also a fantastic tool vs Guile in close-range because Kazuya can plow through Guile’s Cr. Mp Cr. Mp blockstring with a well-timed reversal EWGF. Kazuya can exploit Guile’s wake-up game hard, empty wavedash will make flash kick whiff, can wavedash through Super, or EWGF flat-out beats Flash kick.
Okay, I basically started SFxTK like 4 days ago. First time ever playing a SF title but I’m pretty knowledgeable of KoFXIII and general fighting know-how. I’d just like to say this character annoys me. No, I’m not playing as him - I play Yoshimitsu/Juri (Why Yoshi? Because I can, he’s awesome), I get quite afraid/agitated whenever I play against a Kazuya, and he’s fucking everywhere.
Can anyone help me counter Kazuya? He’s got a damn overhead in a combo right? It’s that lighting uppercut movement isn’t? What other characters have an overhead link in a combo? I get completely wrecked by him because I apparently don’t know how to block. I’m used to KoFXIII (and its four-button layout too), where characters have their unique overhead moves but when you use it in a link say from a HP.P it loses its overhead property and then you can link to a special .etc…
Sorry if I appear noobish bit I am one. I also find Ken’s/Ryu’s crouching pokes really irritating, cr.HK just seems to always get me. Perhaps I’m just more horrible than I think I am or it’s just that I need more experience to SF, maybe it’s a bit of both.
I really have no idea why people are afraid of Kazuya’s overheads. The damage is crap in a game where you have two characters and can regenerate some of the life back, it’s impossible to combo afterwards, and it is unsafe on block. You are probably fighting a bunch of fraud Kazuya’s that don’t actually know the character. You also could have also just found out for yourself in training mode, but might as well help you while you’re here.
Overhead chains/moves (record the dummy doing these to you so you can get used to them):
s.LP ~ s.MP ~ s.MK ~ s.LK (last hit is the overhead)
s.LP ~ s.MP ~ s.MK ~ cr.HK (variation where the last hit is a low instead)
Back + LK ~ s.LP ~ s.MK ~ s.LP (last hit is the overhead)
Back + LK ~ s.LP ~ s.MK ~ s.LK (low variation)
QCB + HK/EX ~ Kick (will hit low 3 times, then last hit will be an overhead)
QCB + HK/EX ~ cr.HK (low variation)
Mist step + K ~ Punch (First hit low, second hit overhead)
Mist step + K ~ Kick (Both hits low)
Second hit of Slaughter Hook (QCB + LP) and EX Slaughter Hook (QCB + LP and MP) is an overhead. There is no mixup here, as the second hit will always be an overhead.
F+LK, F+MK, and B+HK are overheads. None lead to combos unless you get counterhit.
And even on counter hit, only f+mk (I think) let’s you combo (1 frame link jab). So Slaughter Hook and f+mk are his only overhead combo starters.
Actually, i’ll share my secret with you guys.
CH b. hk jump forward, f+lk. Perfect meaty situation.
F.lk is so meaty that you can link a jab into EWGF. 448 Damage from the combo w/o meter.
That’s my new team, and my favourite so far. I haven’t put time into doing ewgf’s yet, but it is still an awesome combination of tag combos and different playstyles between characters for different character matchups.
Anyone else getting bored with Kaz? Everyone know him so well now, it’s hard to surprise people
Never. My Kazuya is quite becoming the beast aswell, I have had several messages from various players wanting to team up with me, it’s quite flattering.

This game is dying slow and painfully noone i know plays it anymore too, community killed the game very nicely. Its not perfect same as the other games available now but if people refuse to play this game or dont like it, it is as good as the garbage chute it will ending up in soon
mmmhm, it has it’s problems. Hopefully capcom will fix it. If the changes they mentioned (s.jab, time out, air tatsus etc) actually happen then I’ll definitely give the game another shot. Imo, mr. wizard announcing 2v2 for evo put the nail in the coffin for this game. I’m pretty sure local scenes (at least mine) barely gets enough entrants for singles, meaning there’s no practice for evo. Horrible decision >___>
