Something else I forgot to mention about Chun/Kazuya if you (or anyone else) is interested in using it. She can do an instant overhead jump back j.HK (like in SF4) and tag cancel to Kazuya who can connect cr.HP xx EWGF. I don’t exactly remember the damage but it was pretty high (around 500). I didn’t check to see how safe it is on block, and the cr.HP could be hard to connect sometimes (I think it’s determined on how early you did Chun’s sequence), but still, it gives her a fast, unexpected high that leads to huge damage.

Edit: Seems to only work on Hugo.

I tried that, the Shoryu sometimes beat my alpha counter…

Whose alpha counter were you using? As long as I timed it a little bit after the second hit of Ken/Akuma’s HP version I would consistently beat it with Lili and Kazuya’s alpha counter and hit both characters.

Just watched Poonkgo vs Momochi , Ryu and Kazuya mirror match from this weekends shadowloo showdown.

Not a single EWGF was performed. Low damage single character combos, fireballs from fullscreen… :frowning:

The game isn’t going anywhere if the top players aren’t willing to take it seriously.

Thought I saw Momochi use some earlier in earlier matches. Poongko was too dominating IMO, he couldn’t get going.

I’m picking up Chun li right now. I like Nina’s style but st. mp xx Legs > EWGF is tempting.

Never really been a Chun Li guy and I find all of her costumes to be ridiculously bad.

Cool. I’m running Kazuya/Lili right now but I’ll eventually be using Kazuya with Chun as well. Although some regrettable news I found earlier is that her instant overhead seems to only work on Hugo, as it whiffs on everyone else when they are crouching.

Anyone have any good reliable post launch combo for Kazuya without EWGF?

can someone give me advice on how not to suck with kaz lol, im fairly new to the game but i am a tekken player so ewgf’s are a problem for me at least not on p2 with stick, feels like the timing is more strict then tekken

if you are on 360 i will help you out or at least just show you some bnbs and setups.

Hey guys. I need help on playing against Kaz. It seems like everything he does is safe but on advantage. I thought I knew his strings but it seems like i’m in frame trap after frame trap. I thought the fake ewgf was on disadvantage on block? Also his high low mix up is like magneto scary. he has so many overheads and ambiguously look overheads. I say I rather downback because is low is a threat but i don’t even know what to do anymore. His mist step is invincible? I was trying to jab it I was holy crap it gets through everything. Also, is it his alpha counter the Ex gut punch? Or are kaz players using it as a reversal? I’m so scared to press buttons against this character. Can anyone help?

I’ll reply in greater detail but I’d advise trying to rush Kaz down and stay on top of him. Once he gets going its easy to feel overwhelmed but It’ll just take time to start recognizing how to block his overheads. His alpha counter is the ex wgf. You’re getting hit by the reversal ex slaughter hook which has armor properties and can absorb your first hit. Look at setting up launchers, preferably not starting with a lp or lk (too much damage scaling) so you can keep switching your characters to regain health.

Don’t be afraid to jump in on Kaz. It’s unlikely the player will have figured out a reliable and high damaging anti air strategy. His mist step can go underneath pretty much anything but it does require pretty good timing to get underneath jab pressure. Don’t be too predictable in the rhythm of your attack patterns or else he’ll feel too comfortable in using reversals that he can time against your jab,jab,jab pressure… Go for some raw launcher (they beat low attacks) and alpha counters to keep him from abusing his rush down.

He could do with nerfing imo, his high/low stuff is too powerful/braindead. They could reduce the damage of his chains and specials, as long as they leave EWGF intact. (If they got rid of EWGF, OF COURSE they won’t, but I’d probably stop playing the game)
