You have to buffer into it, go d + A1 then press qcb while it is hitting I find it easier going d + A1 then hcb instead of qcb. Try that and see which works out for you best, it does combo. After more testing it seems that you have to go from neutral standing then hit d + A1 then qcb right when it hits. Hope that helps more.

would the timing be the same as Vanilla Ice’s combo?

Yes it would be the same Vanilla Ices combo as well, you have to buffer the motion in the same manner. Though for Vanilla Ice I believe you can negative edge into the move so when you press f + A3 hold it, do the qcb motion then release. I remember someone told me about that method but I’ll test it out and edit this post if it’s not working too well.

ok i have encountered another problem…:sweat:

during the 1st combo, the player uses (stand on) S. A1, d + S. A1 then cancel into tandem attack (qcb + S)

however, i can never combo it…

when i slow- mo the vid,
i found that dio himself was in his dash animation right after the S. A1.

then,
dio actually slides forward a tiny bit, so the S. A1 to qcb + S would connect.

my question is how do u cancel into that dash frame…?!

Which combo?

o, i am talking about the “couching dash attack combos”

combo that u see he magically “dash” forword in between button in the video clip.
looks like he " taps forward twice" from no where…

for example: Dio

(stand off) C. A1 > C. A1 > (stand on) S. A1 > d + S. A1 > qcb + S

normally “d + S. A1” would not connect, because the distance between u and opponent would be too far already.

however, u can closen up the distance by “dash” right before “d + S. A1” according to theory…

so it would be:
(stand off) C. A1 > C. A1 > (stand on) S. A1 > dash > d + S. A1 > qcb + S

once again…

i think this game would be easy for those who can combo well in** SFA 3** with char like Guy , Gen.

coz the timing of the button is rather similar.
like there is a slight delay between button attack combo.

Unfortunately all of the Jojo match vids that I had are on my computer i left in America, or they were lost when 2 of my 200GB external HDs broke. I’ll upload some of the stuff I find though.

So I went to Akihabara to play Jojo and some guy using Jojo was tearing shit up. There were like 4 people challenging him, myself included, and he could not be beat. He had like a 20 game winning streak by the time I left.

There was another guy who used Hol Horse a couple times and the difference between the two of us were apparent. He knew how to do the good blocked strings and able to constanly be able to attack, which resulted in him having a few more super bars than me in the same amount of time. This is important for Hol Horse especially because his main game is to build meter than get a knockdown into the bullet time RDP(reverse dragon punch)+2atk super.

Most of his regular combos are useless because they dont do alot of damage and they usually push the opponent back into the medium range which is where Hol is not good at. Hol, dependant on opponent character, is good at close range and long range fighting. So most of the time you are attacking with normal attacks and try to trick him into getting hit by the hanged man QCB+A(1,2, or 3 dependent on range) which can lead to an easy knockdown or hang man super QCB+2atk.

However there are several factors to this as well. His three main attacks for setting up his devastating supers are: crouching A3(slide), standing A3, and the hanged man. In the game various characters have different timing in which they get back up from a knockdown. So to best utilize Hol’s combos one must practice and learn the timing for each character. Also if you hit an opponent with the hanged man when they are in Stand mode, they cannot be knocked down no matter the distance. You can reset them into normal mode plus knockdown with the hang man super however.

Lastly Hol has two unblockables in addition to his bullet time super which is unblockable by default. What you do is stand close to the opponent, and shoot glass right above them and then press B+A3. This also works with the QCF+A2+A3 low attack super but I dont like to use a meter for those supers. You can also do a semi-unblockable with the Stand button by guiding the bullet to hit from behind the opponent. But this is relatively hard to pull off without getting punished so the best use of Hol’s stand is to twirl the stick in a bunch of 360s and chip or hit the enemy multiple times to gain good meter.

Many of these combos and strings can be seen in the vids I am about to up to my youtube account so head over there for more visual explanations. Thats it for now, next time… maybe Ill do a new character? I dont know. I love Hol too much!

yea i agree. Hol Horse doesnt seem like a offensive based char.
he is more of a reflex/ sneaky type.

like u wait for the right moment to set up trap or lure oppoent’ to make a mistake…
then u give him a punishment that he wont soon forget… lol

Okay so I just uploaded all of the basic combos stuff for every charater onto youtube.

A word of note, they are all made by the same guy and some of the combos arnt all that great. So learn what you can from them and get as much as you can from the match videos. I will post those up… hopefully tmrw.

So apparently for Hol if you perform a normal slide(d+A3) you cant do anything afterwards till the move ends. However if you perform a dashing slide you can cancel into most of his specials and supers. I have a feeling that this holds true for alot of the other characters in the game.

Random Info: If you block a normal attack from a Stand, while your character is in normal mode(or if you dont have a free-stand) you will get chipped. Also while in Stand mode you will gain super meter faster.

Certain characters have the far away stand mode(during stand mode, Forward+2Attack buttons) The stand is faster than normal, can jump up to 3 times in mid-air(exluding Devo) , cannot be thrown, if you do a tandem attack(japanese term for the QCB+S CC thing) while in this position you will immediatly go into it so it is a good emergency bail out, even if your real body takes damage as long as you dont suffer a stand crash you will be able to move and attack with your stand, however you will suffer twice the normal damage if your real body gets hit. Also in the normal stand mode, your stand gauge will drop drastically if hit and drops minimally when you guard an attack. But in Far away mode it is reversed and when the Stand blocks your stand gauge drops drastically and when you get hit your gauge goes down minimally.

There is a certain tactic of move cancelling called “lever cancelling” or “stick cancelling” which is to alternate between standing and crouching to cancel the attack you just did. A given example was with Vanilla Ice: D+A1->Go into Neutral to cancel the A1->dashing D+A1 Or another with Anubis Polnareff: A1->crouch to cancel A1->A2. I believe these are character dependent so you will have to find more on your own.
