Yeah, what Geezer said. I haven’t actually spent much time with venture, but it’s pretty much what you see between games with any capcom games. I’m amazed there is a copy of venture running at an arcade somewhere!
There are combo videos for the original game on youtube and such - you can tell them apart easily just by the different lifebar colors/designs.
If you ever wanted to practice venture there’s emulation / the DC version has a copy of both on it. The PSX version looks more like venture than adventure, but is kind of a weird hybrid - it’s more like 1.5 with a bunch of other stuff (story mode) thrown in.
Welcome, welcome. We are the crew of GGPO Jojo players all across the globe. Should hop on ggpo sometime to play with us.
Today has been an entire day’s worth of Jojo’s. I was in the room all day playing matches from early afternoon to evening. So many damn people today, anyone who didn’t pop by today surely missed out.
Yeah, when I got home and signed in, there were like 10 people there - and that was fairly late in the evening! It was cool, though unfortunately the guy I played against left after one match. Hopefully they’ll come back!
good to hear you guys are still playing so much ^^
i’ve been working a bit on the german digest here and there, i actually started capturing some replays a couple of weeks ago. but right now, i’m focusing on my ggxxac slayer combovid, which is driving me insane btw (20+ hours per combo is the rule, not the exception).
That makes two of us :woot: too bad I haven’t had the dedication to be able play this game at a high level  but hopefully that will change in the future.
If you want matches, you can always hit me up on AOL Instant Messenger. A lot of us have that as well. Even if i’m away, it’s best to contact me. Sometimes i forget to change my status’ :wonder:
I will do that, you and anyone interested in playing against me may also contact me through any of the instant message programs that I use whenever I’m on to see if we can set something up to play on GGPO. :china:
I just got this the other day but I haven’t been able to “crack” it so I have a few questions. What is the button layout on stick? Through the GGPO button config I have it set up as the Street Fighter layout which seems to work but I ask because the three attack buttons (there are only three plus the stand button right?) seem to all do the same thing. I’ve been using D’Bo and each button seems to do the exact same thing but if I do a special attack the strength does affect the distance of the move so can someone explain that? Also is there anywhere I can find a beginners guide?
That sort of arc is what the button layout would normally be in the arcade, kinda like SNK games.
If you’re doing specials (like fireball equivalents), some moves don’t differ by move strength (like lower button = slower projectile, etc) but some do. It’s all on a case by case basis.
In the case of normals (usually a/b looking the same for jumping moves) that look similar, the ‘A’ versions tend to have fewer startup (and active) frames and do slightly less damage than B versions.
New players go here: Learning Resources - Stand Crash (see the new player primer there) and feel free to ask questions here. I need to learn what people find unclear or confusing so I can write more or make videos to teach it better.
Thank you. If I don’t understand something I’ll make sure to ask.
So if the three attack buttons do basically the same thing with differing startup how does the combo system work? Is there a combo system outside of using stands? For instance are chains possible? Or links? Sorry for the noob questions but unfortunately this game isn’t particularly intuitive lol.
