Vanilla Ice, for one, does not need a longer window to input for Tandem.
A lot of his Tandem setups tend to be however many buttons you can possibly hit within the buffer time, so extending that would, like GGeez said, cause an obnoxious imbalance. Same with Devo. Obviously it wouldn’t be gamebreaking, and it wouldn’t be as extreme as he might have said though, as some characters like Pol, Alessy, Chaka, Joseph, Midler, and Iggy can’t/don’t really have the accessibility nor the practicality to abuse that little change, but it is an unwanted difference on a system very few people even have sticks for to begin with.
That, combined with DC’s inherent issues that someone brought up in an earlier post, and the convenience of USB ports, just makes it easier to use a PC-based arcade emulator.
Just sayin, I wouldn’t play for money against roukyou on a dreamcast…can you imagine, one mistake is 90% of your health gone :wtf: Good thing i’m learning how to extend my tandems…

However, you want to be VERY CAREFUL (ask someone who knows better than me) about the whole suicide battery issue as you don’t want to buy one that no one has used in a year and turns out the battery died months ago, bricking your copy.
Hey, im interested in getting into this game but the character that interests me the most in this game is pet shop, after googling some basic combos and shit apparently he’s considered so op that he is not tourney legal - the information might be old and id just like to know if someone has cracked the character or i should just move on to another character (probably the dude with the lipstick and the samurai sword)
I don’t think, as Tech Romancer alludes to, it’s ever changed.
I’ve heard conflicting reports of whether it’s a true ban or merely pressure in the community (i.e, a soft ban) but I’ve always heard variants of those two. You can sometimes see footage from stuff like the A-cho olympics with Petshop, but it’s not clear if that’s due to it being not a real ban or them just trying to have all the characters represented.
Petshop basically has no bad matchups and has some simple combos for 50% or more. If you wanted to play him in GGPO, you’ll basically find most players will refuse to play you - or simple don’t even know the matchup as a result so it won’t be much of a real fight. If you do decide to play him, I’d recommend mentioning it before the game as a courtesy (rather than just getting people angry/quitting/etc) but that’s just my take on it.
For a while, we had a Petshop player around in the GGPO channel but he hasn’t showed up in a long time.
edit: I’m probably one of the only people there who’d humor playing vs petshop (just a guess) and I’d get tired of it quickly, probably.
I strictly remembering the Petshop matchup for me being absolute rape. Simple strings that could do 50% of your life with no super and damn near kill you if he had it. On top of the unblockable setups and silly infinites. I mean, if you don’t believe me, get a GGPO account and play 127 the canadian xD Banned or not, dude is God tier.
Tryin man. But things always come up with me. Been trying to get a car but any money I get I end up using to pay bills with and other random expenses. My folks want me to not do any big spending since we shall be moving soon and need my paychecks to pay for w/e they need. Ontop of that, I don’t know anyone in the Sacramento area with a ride AND an interest to drive out to play JJBA. I know one guy who plays it here in my city that I caught up with, but he doesn’t have a car either. So things are really iffy and up in the air at the moment. And the people who usually go out in the SVGL area only go on weekends (weekends are a no go for me due to my work schedule).
Yo guys, a quick question.
Is there a list of the differences between JoJo’s Venture and Heritage for the Future, and if not, does anyone know the big differences?
There is a JoJo’s Venture arcade tournament at the end of May in Ohio that I am attending, and I wanted to know if it was so drastically different that I shouldn’t bother.
I know that Jotaro’s 2A/5A -> 6B link is out, so he can’t do his basic Tandem in/out loops, and the Tandem screen’s timing is kinda…odd, but that’s about all I figured out.
I guess I could just play (Young)Joseph/S.Dio in the tournament…
There is a lot of differences to the characters besides Young Joesph on there even the guard cancel motion is different I believe. Also the missing characters are both Hol Horses. Robber Soul, Khan, Vanilla Ice, Petshop, Mariah, and Anubis Pol. Young Joesph is pretty much the same (besides the different sprite) haven’t messed with S.Dio to compare the differences.
It is a JJBA tourney.
It’s just not a JJBA:HFTF tourney :shake:

Yeah, I know which characters are missing, and S.Dio seems at least reasonably the same, he still has a vast majority of the same tick and unblockable setups, has his loop and generally feels the same. Joseph also seems about the same though I haven’t gotten in depth about certain Tandem enders like 236A, 4A, 5A, 2SC, etc, etc, but generally he is identical from what I have tested. I’d test more, but it would interfere with my HFTF practice time.

FFFFUUUUU, that’s actually one of the things I was counting on, looks like Grand Finals will probably be myself vs Humbag, I don’t think anyone coming even really plays, let alone plays well.
