yea the otg was one of his major flaws…he only needs a way in and got ourselfs a character.
I’ve got a theory regarding the change to the ground pipe. So, Haggar’s crouching heavy hits OTG now? I’ve got a feeling that you might be able to combo the ground pipe from the dropkick, which will cause a ground bounce which will lead to a combo.
I’ve heard that the dropkick still sends the opponents to the other side of the screen, but it may be changed later. If not, then I guess assists will have to come into play in order to be able to combo after the dropkick OTG. Time will tell, I suppose. I didn’t play UMvC3 at EVO very much, so I didn’t test the new Haggar.
I still can’t get over the fact that Haggar won EVO.
Here’s hoping after a lariat with Haggar on point you can OTG crH and go into a combo.
Lariat, otg crH, violent axe L, L, hoodlum L magic series, air pipe, hoodlum L, magic series, S, corner crH + assist, S, magic series, Wild Swing.
That would be pretty friggin devastating.
“Haggar won EVO” is kind of a bullshit statement, dude got bodied nearly every single time he had a chance to win it for his team. More like “Haggar helped” or “Haggar sacrificed his body and his stache for the rise of Dark Phoenix.”

I think PR Balrog would have stood a better chance if he had snapped Haggar in instead of Phoenix. None of the characters in PR Rog’s team were characters that Haggar has an easy time with. And it’s obvious that Viscant was WHORING Haggar’s lariat assist. In some matches going so far as to have Haggar at or well below half health. Best case scenario: Haggar’s dead , now to deal with Wesker, worst case scenario, Haggar loses all red health and takes some chip, raw tags out for a potential opening on Wesker, Haggar now has to be used much more carefully.
Wesker doesn’t need much, and Phoenix doesn’t either once she bags 5 meter. But Wesker is far easier to deal with without an invincible assist to set up combos and extend his already good damage and build meter.
Theres been alot of MVC2 style team building going on recently where people are putting Haggar on their teams in 3rd similar to the way you would put Captain Commando or Cyclops 3rd, knowing full well they’ve basically lost if it comes down to Haggar.
The lariat assist is just that good, people are willing to take that risk. Its a bit ridiculous on certain teams and you basically become untouchable because you can put people in mixups just based off of the fact that people have to crouch underneath Haggar. Just look at the mixups Viscant got off of PR Rog all because he had to crouch block Haggar.
Lariat assist is kinda rediculous when you think about it. I’m not surprised the nerf is coming. I just hope Capcom makes up for it with his point game but its not looking too good at the moment.I dont think Lariat is completely broken and people whine about it a bit too much considering beam supers blow it up, but coming from someone who really hates seeing powerful stuff nerfed, I can see why the hard knockdown is being removed and some of the invincibility.
Cr.H being OTG sounded good at first but speaking to someone I met at EVO who follows this forum (his name is Skizz, nice meeting you again bro!) he told me that its not really a buff at all. He told me that Cr.H is not cancellable at all, which means you have to do the roll forwards or backwards afterwards. That means you cant do cr.H otg call assist to hold them there to continue the combo. It also means that you possibly lose momentum as your opponent can roll out after the hit meaning you have to take a guess as to which way you roll yourself to stay close to them.You could end up rolling into the corner.Pretty much useless really, unless Capcom wants us to do something else with it.
Actually, it’s not quite as bad as I thought it was when I talked to you, as I was talking to another Haggar main after and he told me that you can cancel Cr.H into lariat, but that’s it. This means that you can get a RFF or a slightly damaging body press at the end of combos, but its still not as good as I had originally hoped before I played Ultimate.
Also. Ground pipe was unchanged in the build that was at EVO. I’ll repeat, NO GROUND BOUNCE ON GROUND PIPE IN ULTIMATE, as long as its on a grounded opponent. It is the exact same as it was in vanilla, all my ground string BnB’s still worked in UMvC.
^ The ground pipe bit is good to hear. That’s strange that cr.H is not cancelable anymore, you would think it would at least cancel into s.S, Violent L or Hoodlum L.
thats really terrible…wow…how the hell are the expecting us to do anything with haggar after a pile driver…hell tron can cancel after her otg boulder now…so to otg you have to lose health to do it…that is the absolute worse change they could possibly think of giving to him…I’m going to call out work this thursday and go to fight club ask seth whats going on with haggar.
Wait his cr. H isn’t cancellable in Ultimate? That’s odd because it totally is into his standing S in MvC3 (although obviously it will only work in corners)
Also, crazy rumor going around the internets, Haggar got a new charge move that’s a projectile. He chucks an Oil Drum at people and if it hits it causes hard knockdown.

Not really. I’ve gotten several time out wins with Just Haggar left activating Level 3 X-factor, backing my self into a corner and spamming jump back pipe. If they’re stupid and get hit, they die. I see a teleport, here comes the lariat xx GHP
Has anyone played around with using Alpha counter into haggar lariat XFC into death combo? Could be a crazy good tactic especially if people are locking you down with Ammy assist or something.Seems like an easy way to get ‘happy birthdays’.
People will really have to guess everytime they do a blockstring.
what do you mean alpha counter?
During your blockstun, hold forward and press an assist. That assist will tag in place of your blocking point character and immediately perform their assist, sometimes with special crossover properties. It’s useful to alpha counter into Haggar because he’s completely invincible during lariat, and lariat can be canceled into body press, abortion punch or XFC to combo.

Thanks for taking the time to test things out! I’ve got two requests:
See if he can combo after an OTG dropkick. Whether it be from an assist or from a special. If he can combo after it, it’ll be a big increase to his game if you ask me.
Also, see if you can identify his new charge move. I’ve heard he throws a barrel/trash can which causes hard knockdown if it hits. See if it’s true, and find out how much application this move will have.

Plz test if the hitbox on j.M has been buffed so it doesn’t whiff on small characters off of a neutral super jump, ala Hoodlum L -> sj.MMHPipe

ok…here is what i came back with just a few notes before i begin. It was the newest build with strange and nemesis…it was on ps3 controllers and i think there was something wrong with them becuase i felt like inputs were dropping. i also was nervous as hell and every person i asked to let me just test out stuff and then ill go to the back of the line told me no. it was also crowded as hell so i only got like 4 matches in and the capcom guy kicked me off after i went on a winning streak.
His stand S range maybe nerfed i was piped someone and i usually hit s right after to land the combo but it wiffed so i was like eh…i wasnt able to get a barrel to come out i tired to sonic boom a few times but nothing…the otg low h dosnt send the opponent flying across the screen like it does now they stay pretty much where they are…i was able to cancel ground pipe from low h otg pipe didnt hit so i think you need an assist to have it connect. …i didnt even get to try hoodlum launcher accept once when i went for corner reset and nailed it…felt so awesome. Rapid fire punch still has people pop out after a long combo.
im going to say one last thing but take this with a grain of salt i did a few violent axes to see if anything changed well i did it to a storm and she was able to knock me out of it…but i still nailed her with the last hit of violent axe to cause ground bounce i dont know if that means anything
