Haggar’s c.H now OTGs.
so you’re saying after an air series into the corner he can cr.H to relaunch? midscreen might not be very useful as it kicks them into the corner tho…
Wild Swing? Wild Swing is pretty good if you are doing long relaunch combo because hitstun won’t let you do anything else, plus it scales pretty weird so still does a lot of damage at the end of a long combo.
I really hope they step back and realize that they are nerfing an already extremely limited character. We don’t need haggar getting weaker, we really don’t.
I also second that his pile driver is a huge disappointment compared to other characters’ command throws. terrible range, crap damage and no follow-up options. hooligan throw is alright, but still needs improvements (especially c hooligan throw, my god, what were they thinking with its speed). he’s mediocre throw game was one of my biggest disappointments in the character. I love playing the guy anyway though.
I’m sure you guys already know this, but you can cancel lariat into lv 3 hyper without xfactor if someone ducks under it waiting to counter it. this is how I usually land the move. use it too much and it becomes predictable, but its still a really nasty trap.

Why does Wolverine have a small hitbox like that though? I know that sometimes my j.m x2 misses but that happened like at least 3 times.If I’d have landed those combos I would have gotten my flow and I think I could have handled his Akuma 1v1. Ah well.

Against small characters like Wolvie and Ammy, off of a Hoodlum L where you have to sj. straight, sj.MM usually doesn’t connect… try going for M H pipe, with a slight delay between them to make up for the missing M. Sucks to see you drop those though, the air Ms are hard to get even in the corner sometimes. Still, great showing and good job repping Haggar on point.
Doing only one M makes the combo much more reliable against all characters and you only lose out on a bit of damage and meter-gain. The game (or maybe just Haggar in general) is too iffy to go for max-damage combos like that all of the time and this is proof. Sometimes you have to weigh reliability over damage especially for a character like Haggar who gets few moments to net some damage.
All Haggar did well this year at EVO was do Lariat assist and sacrifice his high life as meter-fodder for Dark Phoenix. Every time Haggar had a chance to win a match he got exposed. Shit, just watch Grand Finals. Nothing worked except Lariat, pipe, and giving Wesker blowjobs to set up OTG gunshot. There was what…one piledriver and one violent axe? And he still lost both of those times.
When he’s not on the sideline or banging Phoenix then Haggar is just trash. Better luck to him as an in-field character in the next game.
By the ways, shout outs to Viscant for repping Haggar to the fullest at EVO. His “x/haggar/phoenix” team really showed how Haggar shines.
EDIT: Haggar UMVC3 write-up:
- Assist seems like it has more startup, which is vulnerable. Invincibility is there after the full startup (which is when the active frames start on the spin), and still takes red health regardless of whether or not the invincibility has started yet
- Assist seems to have less active frames
- No hard knockdown on his assist
- Can hit c.H OTG after either piledriver or backdrop. c.H OTG still knock the opponent to the other side of the screen, and unless someone would like to correct me, you are unable to followup outside of the corner
- Can follow up QCF+S with a c.H. Possibly starts a small corner loop (never hit the QCF+S in the corner, unfortunately)
- Ground pipe causes ground bounce
THINGS THAT NEED TESTING STILL:
Can he x-factor cancel lariat? I attempted this at one point, but it didn’t work. Either I was out of X-factor (I’m fairly sure I wasn’t), the buttons were fucked (pretty sure they weren’t), or he can’t do it (He should be able to). I can’t rule out any of the possibilities, as they’re all pretty much equal at this point as far as I’m concerned.
Can he followup airthrow or normal throw with c.H?
Any hitbox/frame data changes?
Any other changes anyone noticed?
I’ve heard rumors that Haggar is getting a new charge move. Also according to a list on Eventhubs they said cr. H causes knockdown instead of pushing them into the corner, they might have changed that since the CC build though
Also just to clarify to the guy above me: When you hit the opponent with Ground Pipe where they grounded or airbourne at all? Remember ground pipe always caused a bounce unless they were grounded.
ok the otg is a big buff you could probably otg into an assist like wolverine does and follow up with a smack down…larriet nerf is meh…but it will still have its place and still be one of the better get off me assists…we have to see the next build also becuase niitsuma said the sweep cuases knockdown now instead of launching them across the screen…unless the guy translated wrong. Thor is getting a grab range increase…so im assuming the same will happen for haggar also.
He still dosnt have a way to deal with projectiles which is my only problem as of right now…im hoping ground pipe gets armor now becuase of the ground bounce.

Yes, I’m 100% sure of everything I posted. Maybe in the latest build at the Capcom office it doesn’t knock away, which would also probably kill the theoretical corner loop he has. They did mention this is the SDCC build, and that they do have a new build at the office where it has a different hud and other changes.
Odds are that metrokard may be right on being able to call an assist to hold them in place after the c.H hits while you cancel it into L hooligan launcher or launcher for this current build. Dante assist or Dormammu assist might be useful for doing this. Maybe Ryu’s Kaoken tatsu assist.
ammy’s cold star would be great for that hold them in place and do what ever you want after. on the air throw thing…i run wesker on my team and i can throw them from pretty high up in the air land call wesker shot and get the otg… so im hoping to god it will be the same way with c.H…
Also level 3 command grab might be more deadly if you can c.H right after it…oh man im loving this buff.
going into practice mode i can land a M violent axe after they start flying across the screen from the c.H so maybe someone better then me can figure out a way to land something that leads into a combo
He can still xfc lariat, I remember dropping a combo after doing that trying to be flashy… Also for some reason I kept messing up the j.:h: to pipe land super after the relaunch. I don’t know if it was just me or if they did something to his air normals. It was the pipe that kept missing so maybe slower start up on j.pipe? Im not too sure though
Cr.H hitting as OTG would be awesome, but Haggar is still going to suffer from his mobility and trying to get that one hit confirmation on anybody.
