If headbutt dizzy beats armor…technically it should work vs. Sentinel cr.M at least, yes? But then again, you’d have to be pretty low.

Faster characters work like Felicia or X-23. You dash in after Haggar’s swing, but just before they land and then do mix-ups. This works only when they’re trying an instant overhead. Or psychic air throw. Zoning works best against Haggar. Anyone with long enough reach and/or projectiles can shut down Haggar if played well. One thing to take into account is the assists. You need to be able to punish them because they’re usually Haggar’s best way to get in.

Create distance, hyper jump over him and zone him. If he’s backing it up with assist, concentrate on the assist character, I’ve had my main assist knocked out before even coming in many times, when both or one of us was caught in a Beam Super DHC.

If you can get in, faster characters have a field day with Haggar, but that’s harder.

not true haggar’s normals punish a blocked H from hulk. the characters are pretty even, people just still jump at hulk throwing out attacks like dumbasses so that is why it seams hulk kills haggar.

LOL so true. People just want to beat armored moves by attacking recklessly no matter what. They can´t just block and punish. Remember to not pushblock so you can punish properly. With pipe just don´t try to beat it. Zone Haggar and airthrow him if he´s near above you. Learn to block people!

I"m not sure that this always works. I’ve tried this countless times and more often than not my headbutt is just being eaten by armor, although there are times when I do create a dizzy. BUt i have no reason as to what causes either. (Maybe hyper armor hasn’t come to affect yet ie early frames?)

Hulk’s j H out prioritizes haggars pipe?

jumping pipe or regular anyway depends on where you are on screen and when you throw it. The edge of pipe is not haggars hurtbox, so if spaced properly it will beat it. you just cant throw it out like crazy.

but on front/front collision, does hulk’s jH beat it out? You see i’m having the same problem, i don’t anything that actually nullifies Haggar’s j Pipe. I’m looking for something that actually beats it out/stuffs it. Just like how in MVC2 where Cyclops JHK beats out Storm’s j.HP face flat.

What characters actually out prioritizes Haggar?

Pipe doesn’t have a hurtbox. You actually have to hit Haggar to stuff the Pipe which is really difficult considering he’s swinging a giant ass projectile at you. Storm’s st. M works (that’s the tornado kick right?). Certain other things work (I think Chun’s launcher?). Easiest way to “beat” Haggar is pushblock + zoning.

Yeah it’s the same idea as in SF where you can’t ever out prioritize Vega’s Claw without an invincible move. You have to completely go under or around the hit box of the claw and find a hurtbox to hit it. Even if you start up a normal or special before his active frames start on claw since there’s no vulnerable hit box he’ll still win any ways when its active. Same deal with pipe.

I’m not terribly awesome with dealing with the pipe either and I think it makes his play style really one dimensional but…I shouldn’t be surprised in this new era of fighting games. I’ve found a few things that work. Basically if he’s close to the ground and hasn’t thrown the pipe yet if you’re in range just jump up and air back throw him. If your character has a good wave dash you can wave dash completely behind Haggar and hit him with a long ranged crouch normal into launcher. It’s risky because if you dont get far enough behind Haggar the pipe can cross up and still hit you but the reward is good. The rest is kinda character specific but its preferable to have a character that can shoot him with shit from the air or ground to chip him out then find a good time to air back throw him and start a combo.

Characters like Haggar are designed to make playing offensively risky while he can go in and do dumb shit also so you just have to respect that and pick him apart a bit more cautiously. Best bet is just to record Haggar jumping around with pipe in training mode and see what works.

Either way in the long run I feel fighting Haggar on point will be less of an issue than if he’s in reserve as an assist because his assist is pretty gdlk. He’s really good at making characters like She Hulk that have very little in safe block strings or specials a lot safer.

I think Akuma’s hurricane kick beats out a jumping pipe (oddly enough).

i also have a problem with his dash command grab can i jab him out of it or grab him with a regular grab?

fast version is a “hit”. slow version is a grab.

Sent’s Fryin’ Pan prolly beats it. Maybe even Akuma’s Tatsu, not sure if they took away a bit of its priority… It’s definitely not showing >=(
oh yea, Ammy cold star(L,M) hurts him bad

Frying pan trades in most cases. End result is Sentinel takes more damage but both people are ground bounced so at least Sentinel doesn’t autodie.

today I was matched to some prety good haggar they helped me gain alot of confidence in my defence. What I find useful to do against him is to push block :2p: his first hit and keep away from corners. If you fight a Haggar that love to use hit you with :d: :hk: watchout for the tech roll because he can be tricky.

what is it about haggars pipe that makes is so good? armour? range? groundbounce? i havent really fought any haggars at all so im trying to understand why people complain that it is spammed so much, cant you just pushblock it away if you know its coming?

In my case i just keep him off with arrows from taskmaster or beam from magneto and if he gets to close by assists or me missing just use Taskmaster/Magneto counters just as he is about to get near me, hell even use hyper counter with taskmaster and start spamming arrows to keep him away until usually the player just plugs out.
