The Invisibles

K I started reading this series, and I’m at issue 7…Grant Morrison on LSD is so confusing most of the time. Yet it’s surprisingly intriguing and I wonder if its gonna live up. Anybody else read it? thoughts? Is the team gonna get even more bizarre than it already is (adding
S & M took the cake thus far).

But seriously, Grant Morrison was out theeerrrreee when he wrote, fucking weird.
(I read the Filth for a bit, and gave up after the second issue)

I’ve only read the first and third TPBs, and that was a couple years ago… I’ve been trying to find a cheap lot on eBay so I can own it all and take my time reading. I have no idea what I read, by the way. I just know that I liked it. All I remember was weird crossdressing and people tossing molotov cocktails. I think it’s basically about underground freedom fighters, except it’s Morrison on his acid prime.

The Filth, on the other hand, I’ve probably read three times by now. Not that I know what it’s about or can write an explanation about the story or anything. It just stimulates a part of my mind. Also, from what I’ve gathered in interviews, The Filth is even more far out there than Invisibles. There was this one scene where women were being attacked by giant sperms of mass destruction.

Man…that splash page with all the giant sperm flying around and killing all those women by bursting through their bodies…that fucked me up. Like I honestly think I regret reading The Filth, because it just damaged me so badly mentally. And yet…I’ve gone through and re-read it like three or four times.

And Chris Weston’s art…terrifyingly perfect for the book.

I don’t know, that was like Grant Morrison on acid to the exponent of Grant Morrison on acid.

I want to hide it or take it off my graphic novel shelf when people come into my room, just because I’m afraid the situation might come up where I’d have to explain it. Like…

“Hey, what’s ‘The Filth’?”
“Uh…nothing, don’t read that.”
“I’ll just take a peek…OH GOD GIANT SPERM VOMIT VOMIT VOMIT

And suddenly I’ll be like the guy that’s into like black devil semen and all that, and no girls will ever like me again. …or the wrong ones will, you know?

I’ve only read the first trade of The Invisibles myself - though that’s just mainly because I’ve been lazy. But yeah, definitely…I think The Filth still stands as Grant Morrison at his acidest. It’s the farthest out of all his stories I’ve read.

I gotta get around to finishing The Invisibles sometime though, just because it’s so famous and I can’t complete my training as a pretentious snobby comic book poser fag unless I do.

You and me both, fella. Except for the fag part. I’m not Canadian.

but you are from San Francisco, so its just as faggy if not perhaps more. Oh and our dollar is worth more (this for all these years that this cheap shot was being thrown at us, whether in real life, the internet or tv) Cheeyaahh

As for the comic, finished the first volume last night, and Jack Frost is totally broken. I really liked Fanny, King Mob and Boy’s origin stories, and I think I should do shrooms for the next volume cause there’s a lot of trippy stuff that occur.

We don’t call ourselves fags unless we’re being ironic. Over here in the Castro, we prefer the term “dandy.”

That’s a good point, actually.
