That could be a possibility. We know at least the story coming in June takes place between SFIV and SFIII. Iām not sure if there is gonna be any more after that, (Unless they do a really ambitious āTo Be continued summer next yearā while they work on the the next phase of the story.
I do know that we will contiue to get more and more character stories with more new playable characters coming.

3S is starting to become the DMC2 of the series in terms of story, in that they just push it so far in the future so everything can take place before it. Look forward to street fighter 7, taking place after Street Fighter 9 but before Street Fighter 3.

Anyone want to speculate how stages factor into the story mode? City in Chaos stage is quite obvious. Metro City is ground zero or the first major city to get hit by whatever Bisonās plan was. Brazil is where Chun, Ken and possibly Laura run afoul with Shadowloo.
Okay, so letās recap everything we see in the trailer:
0:05 - FANG is approaching one of the Bison spheres in the Shadaloo base.
0:07 - A weird statue that resembles the sun, lights up in the shown scene as to indicate the sunrise
0:09 - FANG is standing next to the control panel of the sphere. Perhaps itās his own creation?
0:11 - Bison appears out of a wormhole in the Metro City next to a stolen bank safe, the entrance to which is right behind him
0:12 - FANG is already standing there, awaiting for Bison. Probably awaiting further instructions from Bison himself
0:13 - two Shadaloo soldiers are shown. Probably just regular grunts
0:14 - FANG is receiving order from Bison
0:15 - The Bison sphere is shown in the space next to Earthās orbit. It also has a Shadaloo logo on it that lights up upon activation
0:17 - a bunker/base of the US Army is shown. Three guys are in the room, monitoring the air space
0:19 - Several alerts are shown on the radar. They signals seem to come from where the gameās stages are located (i.e. Russia/Moscow, London, China, India)
0:20 - More alerts are shown on the radar, these signals come from the Metro City and Brazil. The radar shows āUntil impact: 23:59:57ā text, which implies that possibly the Bison sphere(s) are going to hit Earth or explode upon entering the atmosphere?
Thereās also a man in front of the camera. The blue suit looks like itās Abel now working with the military, though his haircut seems way different
0:22 - Ryu is in the India stage looking at the Bison sphere covering up the sun, putting Bisonās plan into motion
0:27 - The Solar Eclipse produced by Bisonās sphere blocking the sun seems to awake Necalliās V-Trigger state. Perhaps that unleashes his inner power (Satsui no Hado?) permanently and this is one of the major points in the story. Ryu feels this awakening as he is shown utterly shocked
0:29 - Several Bison spheres are shown flying by, ultimately forming a circle of 7 spheres in total, which is also the part of Bisonās plan
0:31 - Necalli arrives at the India stage, wrecking havoc in the city. Perhaps this is the first time our heroes see him in the story
0:35 - Charlie is walking through the āCity in Chaosā a.k.a. the Metro City. As seen with the lighting, this is happening after Bison blocked the sun
0:36 - Somebody is riding a motorcycle/ATV, while we see Ken, Chun-Li and Laura in the background. Next moment - Laura taunts/threatens somebody
0:38 - Mika and Zangief are cutting a promo in the ring at the new stage weāve not seen yet. This is probably very early in the story. The Capcom Wrestling Association logo can be seen in the background, connecting the Street Fighter universe to Saturday Night Slam Masters āuniverseā
0:40 - Ken Shinryukens several Shadaloo grunts at once, which means that Bisonās Shadaloo army beings a worldwide assault or guards other bases across the globe
0:41 - Rashid meets Chun-Li in Metro City. Seeing as the event is happening at night, this indicates that the stages will have day/night versions or even real time daytime cycle. Hopefully not limited to the Story mode but also available in other modes as well. Chun may suspect Rashid as being part of the Shadaloo forces assaulting Metro City
0:43 - Ryu is preparing to fight somebody. Quite possibly he is going to face Necalli, whom we saw arriving at the scene earlier. Next moment Vega prepares for battle as well but on the completely different stage
0:44 - Nash is shown interacting with an unknown character. Supposedly this is Kolin, Gillās secretary, but because she is wearing an Ushanka hat - it might be a totally different character altogether. Maybe itās from a flashback. Next Moment Dhalsim is shown at the India stage as well, protecting a fellow policeman. Perhaps heās with Ryu there, preparing to defend the city from Necalli
0:45 - Bisonās projectin is shown at the Waterfall stage next to the cave entrance, which serves as the shrine for Illuminati. I assume this is the place where Necalli was kept in a slumber for many many years until Bison found out about him somehow and decided to awaken him, bringing an ancient powerful warrior āback to lifeā to later consume his body.
The next moment Charlieās hand glows. Maybe this is the first time he is learning to use his newfound powers (V-Skill). Then we see Laura shaking a fist towards Ken
0:46 - And here we see Ken. This might be the first time in the story where Laura and Ken meet for the first time, creating a future bridge to Sean, whoās going to admire Kenās martial arts skills and become inspired to learn Ansatsuken himself
0:47 - Cammy is also at the Brazil stage, but possibly at a different time period. This is probably when Bison has put his plan into motion and Shadaloo forces are appearing at different places across the globe. Cammy is showing sadness/despair, as we get a closeup of her eye, in which we see a reflection of Decapre, whom Cammy couldnāt save in SFIV
0:49 - One of the Bison spheres surrounding Earth explodes, producing a giant wave of energy. In this scene, due to the angle, the other 6 are behind the camera, possibly all exploding at the same time
0:54 - As seen in the shot, the energy blast seems to act like an EMP wave, disabling all the electricty across Metro City as the town dives into darkness. Quite possibly the same happens at other places across the globe, according the the alert signals seen in the beginning of the trailer.
0:57 - Charlie is shown at the Waterfall stage, looking for somebody
0:59 - Charlie looks at the picture he had with him (or given to him by other person, maybe the woman he met at 0:44) and, as we see by his facial expression, he is in shock
1:00 - The picture he has shows Guile. But why is he surprised? Is he told to kill him? Did a memory flashback occur in his mind? Did he find the picture on the ground, intentionally left there by somebody? (Bison? Illuminati?)
1:02 - Charlie turns his head to the right and we see he is just as shocked by seeing something or someone. Maybe this is where he meets Guile in the story, finally seeing his battle comrade for the first time after so many many years. Maybe this is the point Charlie joins the Hero team to combat Bison alongside them
Oh manā¦IT IS the Tokyo Drift! Theyāre even going to Brazil, London, and UAE. Now all I need is Necalli to do his ground pound and say āThe s-s-streets always win.ā And life will be complete.

I think one of the spheres in that shot is just the sun.
Itās a different overall hue than the blast, a slightly yellow tinge as opposed the purplish psycho energy.
Wonder if those explosions have anything to do with the city black out? You know kinda like a nuclear explosion in the sky?
Some people think the blonde is Decapre. That would be pretty interesting if a Decapre with face repaired by the Illuminati falls in love with FrankeNash.

I know in the real world Akuma is chilling in the Tekken-verse, but where is he canonically? He always says he wants a big fight to the death, but is MIA during the biggest event in Street Fighter history. What if, he has been captured by Bison (and friends!) and his SnH is being actively used to fuel this scheme? Necalli would have homed in on Akuma first, not Ryu.
