The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

So, F.A.N.G sets up a black sun that awakes Necalli, who is eager to devour Ryu, just to have some attention from Dictator. I like it.

Silly capcom, we know it isn’t Alex

I don’t know about you guys, but that looks A LOT like that robot Tekken dude… His name escapes me ATM. He was also in SFxTK as a DLC character.

You mean jack I believe. Yes he does.

Chun’s there, too:

Disappointed that Karin and Birdie were snubbed in the trailer.

Chun-Li looks taller than Ken in that picture. And Ken is at least 5-6 inches taller than she is

I wonder if this trailer basically confirms Guile as the first DLC character, not only that Combofiend posted a flashback of him and Nash as well… it does make sense for him to be the first one if Nash’s role will be pivotal to the story (pretty much guaranteed at this point).

About the trailer, damn that was more than I expected… now we have to see if the story itself will be good, but at least with the cinematic stuff it will already be a lot easier to understand compared to the previous SF games, so I’m already excited for it.

EDIT: I know it’s a screenshot but Guile’s face looks a lot better than in SF4…

Can you link me to that, please?

So, this story chapter is the bridge between IV and III… Alex and Urien confirmed DLC, probably for later in the year after this story mode comes out…We’ll most likely get more story chapters every 1-2 years…

Hold onto your butts, boys and girls, we’re probably getting a SFIII retelling.

#TheThirdChapter

Why would Boxer be in a military installing monitering Bison actions? Just doesnt fit the character, Boxer wants quick money. Im betting thats Guile with a new hair style.

Possible City in Chaos Stage transition? On the right hand side of the stage, you break through the glass and you smash right into a bank?

Not in game screenshot but still.

Depends on the success of the game, but for now they confirmed only this Cinematic Story which ought to cover the gap in the timeline.

Any future Cinematic expansions released will most definitely directly re-write or overwrite SF3.

But I think Capcom are focusing all their resources on having one solid cinematic story for this era. We will still get plenty of individual character stories though.

Well…Capcom, this is looking good. Color me suitably impressed IF it delivers on what it’s shown thus far.

Also that crazy Psycho POWAH!!!

Some other cool things I spotted in the trailer.

Wrestling stage is a nod to the Muscle Bombers

Ken’s Shinryuken has the power to assault 3 Shadaloo intermediate members at the same time!

Sim saves the day!

Bison has resorted to bank robbery. The security must have been high when they set the safe code.

I think Bison knows about the secret behind the waterfall

Is that Bison’s bodiless soul or is it an astral projection like Rose’s in Hawk’s SF4 ending? How will I sleep at night without knowing?

I also agree that FANG and friends seemed to have broken into HAGGAR’S INVESTMENT BANK (stage ext. Metro City) and Bison decided to check up on them in that scene.

Story line trailer got me HYPE

Hey guys, because this is so hype and unprecedented, we’re going to talk about it tonight on the radio show I do. Gotta give the thread a shout-out! Anything you folks would like to see discussed? Just let me know or tweet @geek_cred and I’ll put it in the show! Thinking about doing “5 things you don’t know about the SF canon” or something on the air too.

I have a strong feeling Chun-Li and Rashid’s battle will stem from a simple “misunderstanding” and they’ll likely help each other once they realize they have a common goal. The Bison/Necalli connection is really intriguing, though. From what we see, Necalli seems to be within that ball thingy. I’m guessing Bison somehow found a way to summon it to land on earth. Both Ryu and Sim most likely sensed Necalli’s power and knew he wasn’t from that world.

While Bison craves pure power, I could see him actually controlling Necalli and using him as his own personal weapon. Maybe to absorb the souls of others and somehow give that power to Bison. There’s always the possibility of him wanting Necalli’s body for himself, too.

I liked how that explosion knocked out the power throughout the city. Bison’s like “if I can’t have fun, you fuckers can’t have fun, either!”

I’m really hyped after watching that trailer. It’s going down for real in V. All doubt about Capcom’s efforts into the story should be out of the window now.
