The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Then THAT is the problem. Something like that really shouldn’t go unexplained.

They don’t though, because Bison isn’t from Thailand. That’s just where he chose to fight in the SF2 tournament.

Except Ryu doesn’t call his fighting style “Denjin Renki”, nor does Ken call his fighting style “Heat Rush”. None the less M. Bison not only has Psycho Power as his also his VTrigger, but his fighting style as well.

I think “Shadaloo military martial arts/ Psycho Power” would be a suiting name for his style.

A lot of his normals that aren’t power with Psycho Power have the prefix “Shado” in front of them. Whereas tons of fighters have a normal technique listed as “Low kick” (ローキック), “Mid kick” ( ミドル キック), and “High Kick” (ハイキック),

Bison is the only one that has “Shado Low Kick” (シャドー ローキック), “Shado Mid Kick” (シャドー ミドル キック), and “Shado High Kick” (シャドー ハイキック).

Bison even distinguishes between his straight punches that tell you if he’s using Psycho Power or not.

“Straight” (ストレート)
“Psycho Straight” (サイコストレート)

Bison from Street Fighter The Animated Movie is one of the best SF characters ever and bar none the best antagonist of the franchise. He’s what I measure all SF villains against.

Words can have multiple definitions. This is easily resolved by accepting that ‘Psycho Power’ is both an umbrella term for a fighting style pioneered by Bison, and the specific name given to a corrupt variation of the spiritual energy ‘Soul Power’. Bison came up with both as far as we know (even the name itself), he is essentially the first master of his martial art. Bison’s appearance and the military organizational structure of Shadaloo gives credence to the idea that Bison has had a military background or training at some point in his history. So Psycho Power/Shadaloo Military Arts is appropriate.

Agreed. If SFV Bison in the cinematic story lives up to a fraction of who that Bison was, I will be content.

I would like to see the look on Daemos face if Bipson ends up being Kill :stuck_out_tongue:

I am expecting it, and times have changed. The value of Bison’s IP is probably higher than ever before. So this will be a walk in the park. Nothing compared to the dark ages, when for nearly a decade it was unanimously agreed on that Bison was dead for good because of that red headed turd Akuma. I remember when CvS2 came out, Bison’s ending mentioned that he is preparing for the next nightmare, and I knew then that Capcom was hinting that he was coming back. But I had no proof because CvS2 isn’t canon!!! Nobody believed me… but I never stopped believing.

Years later, some random Japanese interview with Capcom said that Bison was actually alive during the time of SF3. A year or two after that SF4 was announced…

Since we are talking about the SF2 Animated Movie, wanted to remind you guys that this magnificent thing…

Is supposed to be coming out this summer.

You don’t have to be Thai to pratice Muay Thai, see fuckton of europeans (dutch peoples specially) that learned/pratice MT there

As Bakfromon post show his 3 LMH kicks are the very same first 3 basic kicks of Muay Thai/Kickboxing: Low kick, Middle kick, High kick

Also for hands he seem to have some heavier punches, palm and shuto (aka knife-hand) strikes, ear slaps that are used in Lerdrit but differently (or not at all) in MT

Compared to Lerdrit MT use more fast, light on the feet punches as set up for kicks, and favor elbows as main arms weapon
Bison use heavy hand strikes and no elbows

Even Lerdrit wiki page add that
"In the Street Fighter video-game franchise, Lerdrit is the martial art practiced and used by M. Bison."

Also, from SF wiki
" Fighting style
In the games, M. Bison fights with a self-taught style using the Psycho Power. In the non-canonical Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game, M. Bison is said to use the martial art developed and taught by himself, Lerdrit. Though in reality, Lerdrit is actually a Thai form of martial arts taught and used by the Royal Thai Army. It should be noted however that while M. Bison’s fighting style in the games is original, it may borrow elements from Lerdrit. "

Canon or not that’s clearly the martial art Capcom used as inspiration creating Bison’s style

Thrught SF history capcom guys demostrated to have good knowledge of martial arts (styles, fighters, episodes)

I wish Cammy had a larger role in that movie.

The Sellers family disagrees with you

I get what you’re saying, it’s just that his fighting style isn’t defined by Psycho Power. Take Rose for example whose style is listed as Soul Power.
Some of her normals are like Bison’s whereas she has the prefix “Soul” (ソウル) in front of which techniques which use the power directly.

You’ll notice that unlike Bison who only uses his Psycho Power for a handful of his normals, alot more of her normals rely of Soul Power, more than double his actually (Bison’s 5 out of 30 to Rose’s 12 out of 30).

So just going by normals alone you can see Rose is reliant on her Soul Power in nearly half the situations, where Bison only uses it a 6th of the time.
Her fighting style is defined by Soul Power, Bison’s isn’t defined by Psycho Power.

Well, when your fight style is about be a Monica Bellucci that slap peoples with a silk scarf, better have some magic shit over it lol

I’m not familiar with the dolls but aren’t they supposed to be physical clones of Cammy? why are they different races and have different features. I can understand different hair color or representing different nationalities.

All the dolls are kidnapped, brainwashed, and enhanced teenage soldiers from around the world. The exception is Decapre, who was genetically engineered from Bison’s DNA. Cammy is technically a clone of Decapre since Decapre is the older sister.

oh thx- i thought they were failed clones bodies for Bison…

The dolls were kidnapped by Bison from their respective countries. Until recently Cammy was the only clone. Now apparently Decapre is as well. To me Decapre should be a kidnap victim like the rest of them. Cammy should be her clone. It would make the animosity she has towards Cammy make more sense.

The whole Bison-Cammy-Decapre thing is a mess.

Geki and Eagle. Geki also had a throwing star on top of his claw.

uh, guys? Thoughts?

It would also make sense with her given nationality. She was cloned and Bison thought she should be Russian just because?
