I just saw the cinematic story mode preview. It shows Charlie’s SFA2 ending in a flashback. And in his SFA2 ending, he defeats Bison, and that means that Charlie’s stronger than Bison. How much stronger than him do you think he is, though?
Charlie’s SFA2 ending happened as SF5 says, not as SFA2 says. In SF5, Bison is clearly fucking around with Charlie as he usually and arrogantly does. Bison is a cruel man who likes to bully and toy with his opponents. Kinda like how Emperor Palpatine feigned weakness while fighting Mace Windu in Revenge of the Sith.
To answer your question, Alpha era Charlie is probably one to two tiers below Bison in terms of stength and power level. He’s magnitudes weaker than SF5 Bison.
We are yet to know the full power of Zombie Charlie, but he’s significantly stronger than before. But so is Bison.
Did they retcon almost all of SFA3 out? Man, that was a clusterfuk of storyline.
No. Many of the major plot points of SFA3 were merged with/absorbed into SF2 according to SF4. Several other major and minor plot points were recycled, reimagined and reused in SF4 and possibly SF5 now.
But as a point in the timeline, SFA3 now nebulously occupies the same point as SF2.
Oh, right, I almost forgot we’re near the end of June. Expect a blog post on 29th saying the June update was delayed until July

So will this month’s story patch have the ending to the SF5 story, or can we expect another patch next year ?
We know what Mika did in Alpha 3 is canon. She still got her sponsorship and the moment when Gief saved her from falling debris in the Shadowloo base was a flashback in her character story.
Personally, (and kind of unrealisticly hoping), I want to believe that this patch will not be the end to the cinematic story mode. Usually, after one story ends, another one begins, opening to a wide rane of possibilities. I am hoping that we’ll get another story mode so we can continue to explore the lore and development of the story and characters.
But realisticly speaking, any more story content we’ll get will be character story for the new characters.
Based on everything we know so far, this story will bridge SF4 and SF3. So this is it. Unless future story patches take place in the aftermath of this one or Capcom decides to retell the story of SF3 which is unlikely IMO.
We will probably get more character stories though, that don’t necessarily tie in with the cinematic story, or even take place before it. They could be taking place after the cinematic story even.
I don’t know what to make of SFA3 right now. I feel like all the Alpha games are just up in the air right now and Capcom has just been cherry picking what goes into the new SF4/ SF5 canon so far.
Fun Fact: I just found out about in AAC. So you know how in SFA2 Dhalsim has his ending where his son is just born? Well apparently in SFA3 Sally is still pregnant with Datta which technically makes him unborn. It makes sense from the SF2 timeline because Sally was still supposed to be pregnant during SF2 and Dhalsim’s ending is supposed to take place 3 years after, so if SFA3 was the prequel (or interquel) to SF2 than this would all make sense. Which makes me think that Dhalsim’s SFA2 ending takes place in some far future ahead of SFA3, which just seems silly because he seems to follow the SFA2 birth in SF4 given his age.
But then there’s Nash who comes and confuses me because he goes from being dead, to alive, to dead again, but only his SFA2 death is canon now.
Datta’s status of unborn is “canon” in SFA3 in terms of SF2, and SFA2 ending is non-canon. While Nash’s status of dying in SFA2 is canon in both terms of current canon and in SF2 canon, but he shouldn’t be alive while SFA3 is going on.
