A character that can switch between like 3 completely different weapons would be kind of neat in SF. Not like Vega where it’s switching between normal and claw and they are pretty similar-ish though different enough to matter. Three totally unique weapons with VERY different attributes and TOTALLY different moves.
From the images on this page alone: Ryu realizes Oro is just playing with him so pulls a (Show Ryu) Ken. Oro parries the attack with ease while still one handed. When Oro does use two hands, he’s worried that he may have just killed his would be student. Once Ryu regains consciousness, Oro declares he will teach him.
Even as a non canon representation, Ryu clearly is not on par with Oro in the Udon comics.
Jonah Cassidy, could have a missing daughter (failed doll project or prodigy hacker) as motivation for leaving the mounties. He’s using a particular set of skills to find his man and it looks like Fang is his target. Conversely, his daughter could be a Janet Cassidy with an aptitude for Hockey, and having “lumber jacked” for the past 3 summers before getting taken.
Ryu’s definitely not on par with Oro. Oro just made it sound like he was.

Anybody care to guess who Rashid’s friend is that he’s looking for? I’d like to hear what people think about this.
I think it’s an existing character, why else would they make it Rashid’s #1 bit of story relevance. As for who it is… :s I can’t really think of anyone.

Who wants to set up some AVI bets for characters who’ll make cameos in the cinematic story? The only conditions is they must have a model and can’t have appeared in a prologue in person. For each character that didn’t make it you gotta keep the AVI for a week.

The girl was probably aware that she was the traitor and that FANG was searching for her/about to kill her.
Hmmmm. You could be right there. If that is his friend then what a waste of potential.
I really dont think its her. Not sure but it has to be someone more important and killed her/him during the first chapter would be pretty stupid
[details=Spoiler]We know she is an SIN scientist from Rashid’s prologue by the way, not just from the cinematic mode E3 showcase. It probably is her. FANG even tells Rashid after the deed is done that he’s too late, implying that he knew their connection and that his friend is th one who stole the keys.
The significance of the friend is yet to be determined, but I’d say she’s a pretty important plot device at this point. [/details]

I think the researcher FANG kills was just a cutscene to introduce FANG into the story mode in a ‘this guy is fucking deadly’ way since he’s brand new to the franchise.
I think Rashid’s friend is [details=Spoiler]one of the programmers FANG talks about with Vega and Balrog. Since Rashid does seek out Chun-Li and even challenges her to a fight (story trailer) maybe to get infomation on the programmers that fucked with Shadoloos plans that Chun-Li knows about[/details] I’m sure this theory has holes in it but it’s the best I can come up with after 30 minutes of story to go on.
[details=Spoiler]Ned Stark died in the first book/first season of Game of Thrones. Doesn’t make him or his impact any less important in the story. Some characters are more important for their sacrifice/death than they are for their life.

But because they go out of their way to not show you Rashid’s friends face on the phone, or show the scientist’s face before she dies, it’s supposed to be some kind of twist later she wasn’t Rashid’s friend.
Otherwise, why wouldn’t they show her? It’s not like they aren’t making unique character models left and right for this story mode.[/details]
[details=Spoiler]That’s very much possible Darth, but I’m taking most things at face value right now since we have very limited information. The person that Fang kills fits the basic description of what a female SIN researcher would look like (see SF4 TTTB and SIN lab stage for reference).
There is little reason to doubt that that was Rashid’s friend. Especially since we did not see Rashid take it all in after his fight with Fang. [/details]
