The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Capcom actually DID say that Ingrid’s SFA3MAX story isn’t canon. Neither is Yun’s. Bison never stole psycho power from Ingrid, and Yun never went time traveling.

So as long as the only appearance she’s ever had in a SF game isn’t considered canon, I don’t consider her a SF character.

Other that the, like, one inch line of cleavage they drew on her chest, she looks exactly the same to me.

That’s interesting. Where did they say that exactly? Because in Project X Zone 2 they’re STILL insisting Bison stole that power from her and so on, so that would be a tad contradictory. Not that would surprise me. For my tastes, I consider her canon, if only because I love time travel stories and Street Fighter lacked one. By the way, having a time travel device on board could explain the various discrepancies in “canon”, assuming Street Fighter series ever had one…

Alternate timeline Yun is one of the strongest Street Fighter characters because he’s buddies with Ingrid

Crossover titles aren’t the best place to source info for canon.

That’s exactly the opposite of what “canon” mean

I know that well. On the other hand, even CANON titles don’t seem so reliable as sources. See Nash “dying” at least 3 different deaths, only to be rewritten every time… And if SFA3MAX wasn’t canon, well, even Maki isn’t; neither is Eagle’s involvement in any event post SF1.

And yet everyone assumes a personal canon based on personal taste, lacking an official pronouncement by Capcom part. If it’s not official, anybody can speculate.

Maki and Eagle in SFA3 isn’t canon either. The simple fact is Capcom wanted to get people to buy SFA3 again. So they took existing sprites and threw then in the PSP port.

And that’s a fact I know, also. But a thing is the reality behind the operation and another is an official canon. It seemed strange to me that Capcom would go all the way to outright admit “Well, folks, we did it for the money, OF COURSE isn’t canon”; that’s why I asked where they did say it.

Canon or non canon… so boring that. Fact is, are there and are real characters of the series, whether relevant or irrelevant opinions.

Capcom should’ve just added default Laura pants to the costume in the artwork and it’d be PERFECT. Well, almost, the cleavage is still there

Hmmm where did they say that? Not that I doubt it but I’d like it if this is true lol.

Bison…what are you doing…

And different hair.

My personal favorite would be her main costume pants with her premium costume top.

I gotta say, with these articles, I’m a bit disappointed how all the SF3 characters look pretty much exactly the same.

I really liked how all the SF1 characters had new, updated designs, much like how most of the returning SF5 characters got updated designs.

It’s like, they have to look that way for a future game or something. Crazy, right?

In all seriousness, Sean looks different and I think Oro’s hair changed slightly. Makoto/Yun/Yang changing makes little sense because they’re basically the same character in SF4 that they are in SF3. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Necro redesigned if they bring him up.

You could say the same thing about Ken, but he’s drastically different in 5, while being the same in 4 and 3.
