The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Something I wanted to get cleared

Is the thing about Charlie defeating Bison canon at all

Oh Scholars please help me, bestow me with your guidance

No, you silly, Charlie never defeated Bison, it was Cammy

Both did.
Cammy won as Bison tested her.
And Charlie won in the end of Alpha.

And no I will not stop. Saying someone is weak because of the own opinion, while this is not true is spreading wrong facts.
I.E she is the strongest woman in SF, deal with it.

If you mean is his is Alpha 1/2 ending canon then yes it is, but Charlie never actually defeated Bison. He might’ve thought he did momentarily before he realized his weakness. Capcom will likely retcon Charlie’s past in a flashback sequence in SF5 though, we’ll know soon what really happened.

I recently made a post about Charlie’s story according to the Alpha canon. Hope it is helpful.

Believe it or not, his Cammy rant started on page 5 (19 days ago) and has pretty much continued since then.

I know the folks here say that the game play elements don’t have effect on the story, but what about Zangief’s distaste for Hadokens? Surely this was birthed out of, and reflected in the gameplay, as Gief is traditionally weak against Fireballs. I know this isn’t the case with everything (like Hakan and fire), but couldn’t you make an exception in this case?

All those Shadaloo agent encounters aside, I really hope we get to see a showdown between Shadaloo and Illuminati in this game (with the leaders [Bison and Gill] duking it out though in a deathmatch, not just some post-match dialogue between Bison and Urien where they just look with contempt at their respective organizations).

Ironically it is probably more productive and easy to make an ass tier list than a power tier list in Street Fighter, given that the characters weren’t written to be consistent but have kept at least vaguely similar appearances

PS Urien best cheekz

Yeah the blind Cammy fanboyism is so strong. Buy a Cammy waifu pillow and get it over with. Geez.

Also, wow the Japanese crowd doesn’t downvote a wank-fest description that worships a thong-wearing small-chested tsundere loli with a flight attendant cap and pig-tails? Alert the press!

“You would never downvote meeeeeeee, would you, senpai?”

This is just silly now. Let’s stop. Here I’ll help…

Moving on, what’s the odds that the suddenly ostentatious presentation of Shadaloo and its generals is all FANG’s egotistical doing? He seems to be a HUGE Shadaloo fanboy and egocentric towards himself as well.

He is certainly egotistical, but I wouldn’t get too comfortable with the idea of him being super loyal to his organization. I get an EXTREMELY strong sense that he, like Vega, is plotting to overthrow Bison, but that he’ll be more reckless about it.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I think he’s all “Rah rah, Shadaloo!” in a very self-serving way. A couple pages back I predicted that he’s going to be the Starscream to Bison’s Megatron going forward. I could see Bison even keeping him around because he likes Fangs ambition and shear vile wickedness.

Athena is a goddess too, yet she’s so weak when compared to Ingrid.
SNK want to keep women down!

Are you implying that FANG was an architect for the Shadaloo base stage we see in SF5?

I think that’s what’s going to happen, for a while I’ve been expecting significant retcons to smooth things out, but now that they’re “doing the story right” they’re going to have a lot more of control to present things. Also with this new steady upgrade platform, we can really add story details like never before. I honestly don’t think a retcon at this stage will be bad. If it smooths things out, doesn’t erase SF3, but rather fits it in with the old stories to make an overall smoother ride, we can finally progress and have steady story progression.

I may be optimistic, but this is the most excited I’ve been for a SF story in a while, even if it’s a small upgrade from SF4’s approach, there still has been an increased focus starting with vanilla 4.

I’d buy that for a dollar. I really think he’s thinking of pushing towards a final hurrah for Shadaloo and finally crushing its enemies. As I speculated that Fang’s been a longtime shdaloo member, but only recently became a fighter (through experimentation) his hype is at an all time high and MAYBE he’s pushing hard and Bison’s more in-your-face out of necessity? Out of a discovery that makes Bison more powerful than ever (as pointed out by Daemos in the Capcom panel pic from a bit back)?

I keep looking at how they say the alt-costumes will be relevant, and to me, Bison’s immediately paints a picture of him standing in front of a grand hall of Shadaloo Elite in their most grand base, holding his GREATEST speech, rallying the troops for their greatest victory. His outfit has so many gold elements, his overall look has quite a bit of style and polish, like he wants to make an impact, but also have some snazzy threads to feel royal, KINGLY.

Also, about Fang, I agree with him beingthe Starscream, I think when he does turn traitor, it’s because he loves Bison’s ideal and creation so much, but he feels that after a failure or setback, that even Bison himself is “no longer worthy” of his own dream. I think that would be interesting, really – dude so much of a fanboy, that a little straying from his husbando’s ideal makes him immediately lose faith, but rather than packing up and leaving, stays to “improve” on what’s been broken.

Really? I know the old SNK game was, but I thought that Athena in KoF was just another psychic.

Vega isn’t really plotting to overthrow Bison, so much as he doesn’t care or is indifferent towards Shadaloo and Bison’s well being at times it seems. This is manifested very accurately in his SF5 win quote against Bison. His SF4 ending though has him wanting Shadaloo to live forever, which is a bit of a contradiction.

Boxer on the other hand just wants to plunder and pillage Shadaloo for what it’s worth. He’s all about the money. A bruiser for the highest bidder.

FANG on the other hand is genuinely interested in actually being Bison probably. He’s the only one it seems with actual ambitions to overthrow him like you said. FANG also appears to care for Shadaloo itself.

I preferred the SF2AM movie portrayal of Shadaloo, where it was more serious and the Kings had a vested interest in the organization. Their possible betrayal or their bitter feelings towards one another were less pronounced. Boxer also wasn’t a thug for hire, he was a sophisticated kingpin of sorts, that was only savage in the ring. Now it feels you can’t take them as seriously because of how much of a parody they became. This is true for most characters though.

Speaking Boxer, why is he wearing what looks like the Illuminati insignia (all seeing eye) as a badge in his DLC preview? Could the Illuminati have double whatever Bison was paying him?

@YagamiFire

I’m not sure if FANG is behind Shadaloo’s design. Bison himself is quite eccentric and was presented as such many times in the EU. I mean look at his battle costume with the gold skulls, leather coat with red satin on the inside. The man has taste. What makes me agree with you though is that I find it strange for Bison to create statues in honor of Vega, Boxer, and FANG. It’s so out of character for him to consider any of them on his level in this way, especially since he most probably knows of their impending betrayals.

I like it how FANG is self-declared second in command.
And that only Bisons abilitys are on pair with his own, self-declared.

Oh yeah and america is blind, since strengh is all visual. Put Urien into strong fighters without a real reason. He is badass nothing more. His style is op not him.
It’s about accuracy, not appearance or wishes.

I remember, but SNK has really strong womens in it’s cast.
King,Leona,Angel, hell even Kula is freaking powerfull.

I ranked Urien as high as I did because Urien actually beat Gill, possibly twice. They also had almost the exact same training for the exact same time growing up and are considered relatively equal, as noted even by the SFWWE. This is what makes Urien more bitter and jealous of his brother, the fact that he knows they are the same strength but they chairmen of the Illuminati still chose his brother over him. It drives him mad. They did this because Gill’s values align with the Illuminati, and they likely suspect that Urien isn’t stable or that he is only interested in power. But that is besides the point/ So yes, Urien and Gill are very close in power levels. Both are elementals in their own way with similar fighting styles as evidenced by their shared moves.

You’re one to talk about accuracy overriding ‘appearance and wishes by the way’. For 8 pages/3 weeks now you’ve been trying to shove down our throats bullshit that Cammy is the strongest female in SF - She isn’t. If you value the opinions and ideas of your Japanese friends over ‘Western’ audiences then by all means go discuss Cammy’s awesomeness there.

Tz.
Cammy still won against Juri in the tournament, maybe Chun did this too, but this would make both equal.
Oh wait, every Rival fight appart from this one happend.

Urien and Gill must be totaly equal. I’m sure Gill would lose to Ken and Chun too. Oh wait, this fights probably never happend.

Didn’t Gill basically sandbag his match against Urien, because win or lose he wouldn’t have usurped him as Emperor? He basically gave him a spot in the upper echelon of the Illuminati out of pity, because win or lose Urien would’ve still had to answer to him.

As much as Chun Li is my favorite character, I have to admit that Cammy is much stronger, as shown in the Street Fighter 4 canon battles.

Chun Li beat: Viper and Juri
Chun Li lost to: Viper, Balrog, Vega, Gen and Yun

Cammy beat: Viper and Juri
Cammy lost to: Decapre (and that was because she didn’t want to hurt her)

It’s all in the canon already. I don’t see why you are arguing about it.

Btw, Ryu is low on Cipher’s list because he lost to Sagat, Akuma, Gouken, Sakura, Rose and Yang. What a loser!

“Maybe Chun did this too.” Let’s just give credit where it’s due. They both beat Juri in the tournament. I don’t know much about 3rd Strike’s ambiguous story, so I can’t comment on that.
