Please oh please do not go the MK “everyone beats everyone” route. I would be utterly disappointed. I’m still shaking my head at sindel soling everyone then gets beat by nightwolf. Or when cassie gets her ass kicked through the whole story then BAM green powers and beats shinnok. Or how kotal kahn despite being “strong” was beaten by kung jin…which made no sense whatsoever…
Sindel killing EVERYONE is the worst offender out of those.
Cassie’s powerup at least had a precedent.
And nothing in the story shows Kotal Kahn to be much stronger than anyone else. He’s not Shao Khan II. The game shows you how he became Kahn, and it wasn’t by crushing everyone with overwhelming power. People thought he would be a better ruler than Mileena and helped him overthrow her.
It was bad all around. But the way the story was implemented was nice. The chapters and QTE were lovely…the actual story and eveyrone beats everyone route…welll that sucked. KK beat goro ripped off his arms and what not. He got them back via sorcery I believe?
Unless goro became a joke in the series like reptile then I would hope KK is stronger then what’s shown. Then there’s subs who bodies the kids for free.Then shinnok bitch slaps scorpion for free. Then cassie bodies him…for free despite getting an ass whopping by others. Her “god mode” power up was utterly dumb.
Are we really doing this again? This was refered in this very thread earlier, Sindel beating the entire Earthrealm defenders team alone makes total sense if you actually followed the story
Kung Jin vs Kotal Kahn I can kinda give a pass because Kotal might not have been fighting with full strength (I mean, why would he? Kung is just a random Earthrealmer, no need to go all out on him)
Cassie vs Shinnok is…yeah, that was kinda bullshit. But, you know, it’s Midway/NRS, remember - these are the guys that wrote Armageddon, so a fuck up of this level is somewhat expected. It’s literally the DBZ level of storytelling when the child is revealed to be stronger than the parent. So think of Cassie vs Shinnok like Gohan vs Cell
Lol I would legit laugh if Capcom made it so that at first Charlie and Juri see each other as enemies but eventually not only team up against Bison but emerge in a relationaship because of their similar personas to get Chun-Li jealous, thus creating a “love” triangle between them

I think Kotal Kahn just played along to have the earthrealmers find Shinnok’s amulet for him. For a man who “prides” himself on following outworld rules, he was quick to dismiss the Reiko accords and betray Cassie and her team.

Am I alone in thinking Azam is somewhat inspired by the Genie in Aladin? Rashid may not look like a classic prince of Persia or be some street rat but his stylized tech would fit a more modern theme for an Arabian heir with a flair for parkour and a media outlet. Can his friend mimic the techniques of others as if it were magic? I’m curious of the dynamic between Rashid and Azam. Who is Rashid helping Azam from… Fang is no Jafar but he would make a solid Disney villain in a pinch.

Pretty much. It’s a long story, but common sense “could this actually happen” logic will do 80% of the work for you.
I can guarantee Akuma’s rival battle with Ryu never happened. The whole point of his story is to seek him out, and he finds him unconscious in his ending. Most of the others most likely happened in some fashion, though.
It’s just because people keep bringing up the Juri OVA to say Juri can roflstomp Chun, but in their rival battles, which occurred afterwards, they tie. I’m totally willing to believe Juri is much stronger, but that rival cutscene is fathomable, so do the feats cancel out?
As neither character was killed or arrested, they probably didn’t meet during SF4. Perhaps someone has more information, but that’s my take.
