Hm. It’s a pity that they don’t represent the definite canon, but retain their what-if status. I’m still looking for some more evidence of the canon SF2 winner besides that artwork with Bison’s hat.
Also, let me know if you find anything about Sagat reaching out a hand to Ryu at the end of SF1 before he got scarred.
I agree. Honestly it was too damned short. Right when I was about to get a feel for what was going on, it was over. Machinima did Ressurrection a HUGE disservice with this Go90 BS. They should have did the same thing they did with Assassin’s Fist. Release the whole thing, in episodes, in it’s entirety on YouTube.
Really interesting! AASFZ1 Ryu account actually has his fight against Sagat in SF1. I’m pretty sure this is from Vega’s account from the same book. There, Vega goes to Gouken’s dojo to see the hidden techniques. Gouken held back in the fight, so that Vega wouldn’t see his (their) hidden techniques. After trashing Gouken, Vega mentions that if he wouldn’t show it, for sure his pupils would…
This actually give us an chain of events:
1: Vega hears (or see?) of a fighter named Ryu who defeated the Emperor of Muay Thai, Sagat, with a Shoryuken;
2: Vega discovers that Ryu trained under Gouken and decided to see the Shoryuken for himself, but Gouken decides not to Shoryuken Vega;
3: Somehow, Ryu discovers that Gouken faced a mysterious fighter who uses Psycho Power;
4: Shortly after, Gouken gets “killed” by Gouki.
Not quite. Here’s Vega’s translation from the second page:
I was about to say the same thing.
From the plot guide, Sagat reaching out his hand to Ryu seems to be from his AASFZ1 account. I know that @bakfromon is translating only AAC entries. But he could at least take a look at it. I’ll scan the account later, together with Rose’s Zero World section that mentions about her learning Soul Power.
Huuum, weird. I think that @“Doctrine Dark” skipped Ryu’s SF1 bio. Would you mind adding it to the latest Ryu entry bakfromon?
Are you sure? Because that’s not really possible. The whole Sagat reaching Ryu a hand is tied with Ryu being consumed by the Satsui no Hado for a short moment. And the Satsui no Hado was invented in the “Street Fighter Alpha” manga and then canonized in “Street Fighter Alpha 2”. Therefore, in SFA1 the game, it was still intended to be a regular Dragon Punch that scarred Sagat. So, if there is anything about Sagat reaching Ryu a hand, it cannot be in sources about SFA1, except if the source was created when SFA2 was already out and it includes post-SFA1 knowledge.
First of all, it’s from the SFA manga where the Satsui no Hado was invented in the first place.
UDON comics used the same idea.
And Ryu’s journey in SFA2 is because of the Satsui no Hado. If his battle in SF1 ended with a regular Dragon Punch, then where else did he feel the Satsui no Hado?
And yes, I go with the interpretation that Evil Ryu’s SFA3 ending shows a flashback to SF1 and is not just the sub boss battle from SFA3, primarily because the scene shows a splash of blood in the form of Sagat’s chest.
Wow! Is this an actual quote? Looks like it. I never thought that I would see something like that. I always assumed that this whole reaching Ryu a hand was made up.
Sorry man. I plan on buying the Blu-Ray like I did with Assassin’s Fist to support Ansah. I want him to get to do World Warrior. I feel Machinima has really hurt the momentum they built up with their BS. It really pissed me off. I get the feeling that they didn’t know the Go90 situation until after the fact.
SNH was introduced back in 1994 when Gouki appeared. It is mentioned in the SSF2X mooks.
I was referring to the part of Ryu awakening SNH when Sagat was helping him.
After reading the plot guide Ryu, SNH Ryu and Sagat sections (the same with those same characters dialogues in japanese), the closest of Ryu awakening SNH against Sagat in SF1 is a sentence in Ryu’s Z2 ending:
(translation by Vasili10)
The first part is Sagat’s Z1 account. The “Highlights” section is a commentary made by Vasili10.
Copyright 1998, at top right at last page says “1998/11/30” so probably could be considered 1999 practically since that would be Nov 30th. Was AAC written by Capcom though? AAC on amazon says Studio Ben wrote it while Denpa Shinbunsha published it in September 2000. AAZ3 from what I can find on google(means I may be wrong) only mentions Capcom Japan with Sutajiobentosuta~tsu as publisher. That is one question that can call into question the accuracy of the books you should use. The other thing to ask is does AAC have interviews and messages from the Capcom staff or just information on the series? AAZ3 has, what appears to be, interviews from the developers including director (index says “director” is first portion of book) and has a later section “message from Capcom”, though that is mostly just goofy sketches. Looking closely there is one or two bits that may be useful info in there, not sure though. I could add to imgur if you want.
Here is the final page in AAZ3 so you can figure out who did the book and such. No need, I think, to do a full translation. Just read it as best you can and see if book was by Capcom or someone else. If it was Capcom we need to debate on whether to go with more recent third party, or the company themselves. It’d be nice if there was another book later that further confirms the AAC book as best choice. I’m merely given a reasoning to debate it if you feel we should at all. Remember, the Udon book has stuff that goes against previously stated stuff and it was okayed by Capcom.
