The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

M. Bison’s bio for Street Fighter 2 New Challengers/ Street Fighter 2 X Grand Master Challenge “Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo”

Note: (豪鬼- the way “Goki” is written as “Great Demon” can also be read as “Akuma”.)

So akuma really did kill Bison in SF2?

That was the original outcome of Bison’s fate. I believe SF4 Aftermath trailer is the canon outcome now.

I always liked the idea of Akuma taking Bison out. Even though the main games seem to make no mention of it, SNK Vs Capcom Chaos and SFXT does.

What was the outcome? I don’t think I saw that trailer.

Well this is definitely something new for me

Here ya go:

Basically Ryu in real life who ended up teaching another Ryu in real life.
(Guess that kinda makes him like Gouken)

Also yes, this is what Ryo from Art of Fighting’s style is based on as well.

The guy was the literal definition of One Punch Man. He would wrestle and sometimes kill raging bulls by chopping off its horns and crushing the skull.

New to me as well. T. Hawk story against Bison in SFII had to do with Shadaloo destroying his native land. May no mention of Hawk’s dad being murked.

Not new to me. I remember Shadaloo killing Arroyo Hawk having been a thing for awhile now.

Yeah I thought Arroyo was common knowledge.

Not trying to be a dick…I’m legitimately surprised.

Wait…Arroyo Hawk killed by Bison. Chun-Li’s unnamed father killed by Bison. Chun-Li & T. Hawk siblings CONFIRMED!

So akuma never did kill him. He just…killed himself? akuma man…step up your fucking game boy…ain’t done crap.

Seriously though what’s up with Bison killing everyone’s fathers?

Even his own father wasn’t spared!

Chill out. He killed his own father too and you don’t hear him whining about it…

Not everyones father

So Dan’s the guy Sagat tossed away before the final fight with him in Alpha 1, right?

When I was younger, I remember putting a blank tape in the VCR, recording the intro, and playing it slowly just so I could get a better look at it.

The father’s that Bison killed are Chun, T. Hawk and Juri. Anyone else?

I know almost nothing of these games. So, can you please tell me where this is referenced there?

I always found Akuma killing Bison to be a bit anti-climactic: So, you have one fighter make it to the final battle and then Akuma just jumps in and kills Bison? How are Guile’s, Cammy’s and T. Hawk’s endings supposed to happen now?
Especially Guile’s one only works if Bison is already defeated. I cannot imagine Guile just stepping up to a perfectly fine M. Bison and threating to kill him with his family stepping in and stopping him. This only works if Bison is defeated, either by Guile himself or by the tournament winner.

They should have made it in a way that you fight Akuma without him killing Bison. This way, the story line could be devised in a way that Ryu and Guile made it to the semi-final, but Ryu drops out of the tournament because he feels Akuma’s presence. This way you can make Guile the official tournament winner who defeated Bison, but with the big climax of the story being Ryu vs. Akuma.

But the way it was presented in the game: Imagine you had to create an anime based on the game and you were supposed to create your story in line with the things you see in the game (i.e. don’t invent completely new stuff like in that aftermath trailer): How would the ending work out?

You could create it in a way that Ryu makes it to the final, then Akuma kills Bison and Ryu fights Akuma, sure.
But how could Guile and the others get a satisfying ending? It would feel a bit strange:
“Dammit! I lost. Well, I guess I’ll have to confront Bison after the tournament. Let’s just hope that Ryu defeats him. Oh, nevermind. That sinister guy who is dressed and moves just like Ryu killed Bison. Hm. Fair enough for me.”
“Honey, don’t do it.”
“Jane?”
“Don’t kill Bison. Killing Bison won’t bring Charlie back.”
“Nah, don’t worry. Look: Someone else already did the dirty work for me. Let’s go home.”

There are basically two canons now:

The old one where SFA3 and SF2 are two separate events, where Charlie died in SFA3 (and was, without a doubt, dead and Guile accepted it) and where Bison really was killed by Akuma in SF2.

And the new SF4/SF5 canon where SFA3 and SF2 have been merged into one event, where Charlie’s “death” scene was the one from SFA2 and where Bison’s demise is similar to the countless SFA3 endings, but where he was fought by his enemies as they appear in SF2.

That doesn’t mean there’s two canons. It means the old canon was overwritten. A retcon.

wow! is this still goes along with the current canon on t-hawk’s father or forgotten along with gouken’s daughter?

haha cartoon reference

@DRW

For SFXT, it was mentioned in Akuma’s win quote to Bison:

Bison’s pre-battle dialogue with Akuma in SNK Vs Capcom established that he’s seeking revenge:

Despite the fact that they’re crossover games released at different points, both seem to regard Akuma wiping Bison out as the actual outcome for the SF2 tournament.
