Is this from the canon or Udon? Can you source it? Or are you saying she is a gypsy because of the crystal ball and alpha winpose outfit? She is certainly stereotyping gypsies but I don’t recall her being anything more than Italian.
And yes, Cammy can now be considered British in the sense that after leaving Shadaloo she was most likely nationalized by the UK. Her accent however is a carry over from when Cammy was only a kidnapped and brainwashed Shadaloo agent. She didn’t become a clone until Alpha 3. Abel isn’t a native Frenchman but he has been for at least the 5 years since escaped Shadaloo, thanks to his French adopted father.
Both Cammy and Abel are white and blond, and both were engineered either completely or partially from Bison’s DNA. Yet Bison is neither white or blond. He doesn’t strike me as completely Asian either, he can be Southeast Asian, Japanese, Arab, Mediterranean, or even Hispanic/South American. He’s officially from ‘unknown’.
Sorry for going off topic again, but something else I realized. Sakura is the only Shotoclone that does a proper Hadoken, yet it doesn’t go full screen. There could be a reason for this. Everyone that can generate a Hadoken to go full screen will add spin to their launching technique when throwing one out. Gouken is the best example of this, although he only uses one hand to do it, his Hadoken’s is flawlessly shaped, and and glides through the air surrounded by a perfect spiral. Sakura actually throws her Hadoken the way it is majorly portrayed in SF:AF, which is how it was portrayed during SF2.
The follow through steps for throwing a Hadoken have been this way since SFA. Sakura will cut out the first three frames, even during her Shinkuu Hadoken.
She doesn’t look too bad. Anyways, I did some digging and I’ve found the artwork which is the basis for Cammy’s idle animation in SFV. I knew it seemed familiar.
Even if we were to suppose that she really is the other half of Bison’s ‘soul’, a detail that is strongly disputed in the canon, and was conveniently forgotten by Capcom in SF4, that still makes her Italian since Bison’s soul would’ve likely possessed an Italian woman’s body when it was exorcized out (rather than magically appear out of no where). Rose has long been associated Italy, she stereotypes them, speaks like them, and likely lived there all her life. If she was a gypsy it won’t make a big difference, the Romani people live all over Europe and Italy specifically in this case. They tend to speak the language of the country they currently reside in too. They are for all intents and purposes, Italian as well.
Yes, there is still mystery to Rose (and Bison) that is yet to be answered, but her nationality isn’t one of them I think (the Udon comic explanation is THEIR attempt to explain Rose and fill in the gaps in the canon. It is not Capcom’s attempt at all). What I am saying also is that unless stated unequivocally by Capcom (e.g. Cammy and Abel), it is safe to assume that Rose’s origin and nationality are one and the same. For now at least.
Well, if Rose is Italian, that means one of several things must be true:
-Bison is Italian or at least European
-One or both of them traveled a long way to learn Psycho/Soul Power
-They did not learn Psycho/Soul power together
There was a big discussion about the origin and relationship between Bison and Rose in the previous thread that I could’ve linked you to (it was on page 24-26) to better explain what I mean, but sadly it was deleted.
To make it brief,
Bison’s ethnicity is of no concern because he may have had more than one gender, ethnicity, nationality, through out his life. We don’t know much about him.
In Alpha 1 and 2, Rose and Bison had no previous relationship. Rose was just a soul power user who had visions of the apocalypse and felt compelled to stop Bison, another soul power user. Bison didn’t know or care for her much prior to what appears to be their first meeting.
Alpha 3 introduced several new ideas, some of which are points of contention because the canon (both English and Japanese versions) wasn’t as clear as it should’ve been.
The parts that were clear (Source: Rose Arcade Mode) was that Rose once called Bison her master, implying that she was a student or apprentice of his a long time ago. Bison comments about how he should’ve never allowed her to grow thorns. Rose feels that it is her fate to stop Bison, and Bison knew this was coming too. There is also a part that suggests they are the only two soul power users, but not implicitly.
The part that is strongly debated is whether Bison and Rose ever were one person. I was and continue to be of the opinion that this was a poor translation and interpretation of the Rose A3 ending that simply snowballed out of control. In the old thread, it was detailed that the more probable explanation was that Bison was not referring to He and Rose being one person in the past, but rather that they would be one person in the future. Referring to an event unforeseen to Rose but known to Bison (which shocks her because she is a seer), which is Bison possessing Rose’s body as we saw at the end of her ending.
This event did in fact take place in some capacity in canon (Source: Rose SF4 prologue).
So at this point in time, this is what we know:
[list]
[*] Bison’s ethnicity/nationality is not only unknown, but likely very difficult to ascertain because he is a body snatcher.
[*] Rose is not related to Bison by blood.
[*] If they learned Soul Power together, then it was Bison who is likely the master/teacher. There is no basis in the canon for Bison and Rose being peers under one master. There is an old story (pre-alpha) of Bison being a student to a master who he went on to kill along with his peers before going Supervillain. This story was later on hijacked and repurposed for Akuma when he was introduced in ST, and no longer applies to Bison. That story also did not include Rose in any way.
[*] Bison and Rose were one person, for a brief period of time after Rose first defeated him (a combination of her Alpha 1/2/3 endings that happened during the Alpha 2 time period fits Rose’s SF4 prologue description the most). There is no source in the canon that suggests they were one person a long time ago and/or that Bison exorcized Rose. There is also absolutely no source in the canon that remotely suggests that Bison and Rose are the evil and good sides of one person respectively either.
[*] Bison and Rose’s relationship is still somewhat of a mystery in the sense that when Capcom revived the franchise and rewrote/retold most of the old canon once again in SF4, they did not bring up or mention their relationship from pre-Alpha. It remains to be seen if Capcom will elaborate on this in the new canon, and whether or not they will change it up/flesh it out further.

And that’s why Rose has to make an appearence in V. She’s one of the most interesting characters and her connection with Dictator needs to be clear. Also, her 3D model in IV is too retarded for such a fascinating cougar. Even if not playable, I do hope she has some weight in the so called story mode. Otherwise, fuck Capcom.
I think, on story purposes, Season 2 is almost required to have Sakura for Ryu and Karin. After that, I think we need Rose if Bison will ever suffer a lasting defeat, since only she knows how Psycho Power really works.
So anyways, which story arcs do you guys we are getting concluded with this game?
Since chronologically SF5 is between SF4 and SF3, I think it’s safe to say that all the Shadaloo related stories will be, which includes:
Guile (finally finding out the truth about Charlie)
Charlie (avenging his death)
Cammy (saving the Dolls once and for all)
Sagat (will he stay true to the way of peace he found in SF4 or will he finally find the true meaning of a fight?)
Vega (will he betray Bison?)
Bison (the glorious death of wielder of the Psycho Power)
I don’t think that Rashid’s arc will end just yet in SF5 since his storyline might lead to something bigger than just saving his friend from Bison
P.S. @“Super Sonic” stop pressing “disagree” under my every post in this thread.
If you want to make a point - come out and straight up comment on what I said/where I am wrong
