If I had to make Mecha Zangief (please someone make me do it! lol) I’d make it a bear in a robot-suit and make it sort of like a less-depressing WE3 reference. A patriotic, cybernetically enhanced bear that sees its biggest competition as Zangief (but also sorta respects him…a pouting rivalry sort of thing).
Bear: Master Zangief…bear do gud? Bear wrestle gud? Russia best place! does cossack dance
Zangief: Yes, bear! Dance with great pride! You are symbol of Russian ingenuity!
I used to think their moves was a practice technique or a specialty like gouki practicing new move in Sf3’s Kongou Kokuretsu Za, but after seeing changes in claw, dhalsim, dictator, nash, karin from sfv and remembering from what you said some stuff from like final fight 3 move of Guy.
it’s like capcom just change them like they have been a whole new character not by storyline that under go a life changing trauma like how namco’s explained jin kazama change from tekken 3 jin, how snk’s explain kyo case with goenitz and iori with ash but as simply they changed like they were like that all along.
Honestly, as Zangief champions “Muscle Spirit” and hard training, I can see him having a hard rivalry with a fighting robot that lacks either of those things.
I hope we get super-premium “Alternate Characters” between the cost of a costume and a character ($5?) that does the following, with Mecha-Zangief as an example:
-Change of name from Zangief to Mecha-Zangief
-Change of sounds/voices (add the metal sounds from that glitch on USF4 PS4’s launch, apply robotic filter to quotes)
-New win quotes (to Zangief: “My body is true iron! Your squishy form cannot compare!”)
-Change of effects/animations (eyes glow, add a rocket effect when it jumps)
As long as all hitboxes/gameplay features are the same, this could be a cool way of expanding the roster without adding match ups.
I kinda view the limited moveset of characters as their preferred arsenal, as in, they’d be technically able to do decent versions of a wider array of moves. For example, Ryu is probably able to do a decent Canon Strike or Spiral Arrow, and Cammy could probably do a decent Shoryuken or Tatsu. Just like in real life, fighters would “know” each other moves and how to do them on a basic level, but they’d not be their speciality. Also I’m pretty sure that Chun Li didn’t forget how to do the Hazan Shu during SF5; she just focused on other moves.
Of course, some moves may be farther away from each other or require more specific physical attributes and skills. I guess that a number of characters would not be able to do Hadoukens, Blanka Balls, Spinning Bird Kicks or Spinning Piledrivers. Dhalsim’s stretchy limbs seem pretty unique, although I’m not sure about Blanka’s electricity and other elemental attacks, seeing that characters like Ryu, Feilong, Ken or Laura can use them without being particularly inhuman.
Techniques are not something done lightly and, with the kind of chi flow & focus required I do not imagine people would be able to do other peoples techs easily AT ALL. Even making new techniques seems like a very big deal.
Was this ever stated in the main series? I know she had crazy potential in Sakura Ganbaru!, but I assumed in the main series that she was just very strong.
Laura’s electric attacks are glorified static shocks, Blanka generates his shock like an eel, and Ryu’s is a form of refined ki energy; “Denjin Renki” (電刃練気 "Electric Blade Refined Spirit).
Although functionally I think Blanka and Ryu would have more in common with their electric shocks than Laura. Both of their methods require that the energies are generated internally in the body, while Laura generates hers externally by rubbing her hair.
I still can’t make out a majority of it but I’ve been able to make some things out
富はニ代円
???
凹し崴りのために
生まれ て き た月
ジョー
すごく 凡含 が 画い
???
I’m not 100% if these are the right characters either but here’s what they say
*Wealth in fee ¥ (yen)
Recess bottom for (崴)? born out when took- Joe
So pop including the images.???*
Again probably not right, but I took a crack at it.
He still has Shakunetsu in SF3 and that takes place after SF5.
It’s one thing to copy Kung-fu movies, and another to be able to copy Ansatsuken just by watching. Knowing how to throw a kick isn’t quite the same as being able to throw out fireballs.
Like, wouldn’t Makoto for example be able to shoot fireballs like Ryu if she redirected her Ki differently instead of Tanden Renki?
Sakura is pretty much the Gohan of Street Fighter. Ryu studied Antatsuken since he was a young boy, which equates for roughly…what…almost 20 years? And Sakura can do all that shit by just WATCHING how Ryu fights. No training, no studying, just literally “Watch & Learn”
It is not a “never” thing. Given time to learn ANYONE could do these techniques just like anyone could perform dance routines and the such with proper training and practice. Could Makoto just do it because she wanted to do it though? Absolutely not for the same reason Rock Lee isn’t going to bust out a Rasengan because he doesn’t feel like opening gates instead. He doesn’t know the technique and knowledge of principles does NOT give access to techs.
