The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Oh also was having a chat with a buddy and he pointed out something that seems SUPER likely…

All that garbage Bengus art? What’s the odds it’s just colored-in concept art that was SUPPOSED to be used to create CG prologues? Seeing how the entire story mode we’re getting is CG coming up and the art is…well, WAY below Bengus’ standard AND the images in general are…strange in their composition for static images it seems like we may have an explanation here…

Aren’t the story modes for the characters really just prologues? I think it’s the most evident with Necalli’s, as it was supposed to be a sign of things to come.

I still do not understand that Gouken isn’t teaching Ken in some power of nothingness as well. It again just the Ryu is struggling shit while Ken does nothing.

But well you guys are overcomplicating the story of Ryu and the SnH

Ken doesn’t need the power of nothingness, because he doesn’t suffer from the SnH.

Except Bison’s fucking prologue which was FANG and Nash’s recycled into one.

JUSTICE FOR BISON!

I was thinking this could be the case with a combination of him drawing scenes where there’s a group of characters because a lot of the lie work resembles the detail he would put into his rough sketches for Alpha series

No Ken and Ryu both study under the Power of Nothingness because this is what Gouken taught them. The reason Ken doesn’t have problems with the SnH is because he and Ryu have different out looks on their way of the warrior. Ken’s just more lighthearted to Gouken’s teachings and doesn’t take them as seriously as Ryu does, therefore he’s not so inquisitive to them.
This is portrayed in the tutorial prologue as Ryu is the one left to ponder his fist as Ken just sort of laughs at the idea. Although Ryu’s constant questioning of himself and his fist is necessary for his character building, this attribute is what ultimately lead him to be more open to SnH after his meeting with Akuma in Alpha 2.

Ken doesn’t need to question his fist because he has a solid idea of what he wants to do with it (“Attack me if you dare I will crush you!”). That and the fact he’s just not as deeply attuned to the Hado as Ryu is. The closest Ken would have been to succumbing to SnH was when he was brainwashed under Bison’s influence.

Overall Ken is a prizefighter with intentions of fighting for titles and fame, but Ryu intentions for fighting are to find a way of the warrior. The SnH effects him more so because it has been specifically tied with the ways of the warrior in the past, and Ryu’s mindset is more so along the lines of that than Ken’s is. Ken is on the path of a new school MMA fighter, while Ryu is trying to walk the path of a samurai.

I just had a thought: Let’s say Shadowloo goes under during SFV. Bison winds up dead/MIA. What happens?
-Vega will probably find work as an assassin elsewhere. Possibly for the Illuminati.
-Balrog is the only King ever depicted as running Shadowloo in Bison’s stead (which fails miserably). We may get a rehash for the SF2>SF4 gap where he screws things up until someone pays him more than he earns running Shadowloo, however…
-FANG’s involvement may change this outcome. If Bison dies, what will he do? Does he try to run Shadowloo himself, or does he create an almost cult-like system around users of Psycho Power, such as…
-Ed? He seems like he will be important down the line, but how is anyone’s guess. As a user of Psycho Power, he could easily wind up taking Bison’s place, provided Shadowloo exists long enough for him to come of age. Bison may use him as an emergency vessel. He seems to have some relationship with Balrog, and FANG may see him as a mini-Bison in this case.

So, my foreseeable outcome for a post-SF3 game would be the “resurgence” of Shadowloo under Ed/Bison, with FANG by his side. Balrog may or may not be involved.

Balrog will sell his services to the next highest bidder (Illuminati will offer him insane wealth).

Vega will probably disappear, or call you a bitch and make you suffer.

FANG will probably find a way to bring Bison back or continue his life’s work.

Ed is the male Cammy, Abel Jr, and a change of clothing waiting to happen. Otherwise, he’s Rock Howard.

I don’t think there will be a resurgence of Shadaloo as we know it after this game, but I do see a resurgence of Bison in a post 3s SF universe. In a new form. Capcom definitely had an intent on changing Bison even more dramatically than we’ve ever seen.

We could end up getting a character that looks and plays quite differently, and is only revealed to be Bison in a twist at the end. I remember when people for a time thought Q was Bison. Now Q is obviously not Bison (He’s David! ), but the basic idea isn’t farfetched.

No it’s not. Power of Nothingness is not Gouken’s fighting style. It’s just one of his techniques. That’s like saying Ken and Ryu study under the Raging Demon.

Power of Nothingness, or Hado of Nothingess is akin to Muderous Hado as they’re both methods of preparing Hado (energy), it would be like saying “Gouken and Gouki studied under the SnH from what Goutestu had taught them”. I’m just saying they learned the same basics of fighting and energy gathering from Gouken, but for some reason Ryu had found about the older method of SnH.

Nothingness and SnH are more basis of ki energy than actual techniques, it’s like how Shibasaki describes Karin’s kata in SFV: “the technique is generated by Hado. A wellspring of fighting will to rise to any challenge”, or to simply put a technique generated by fighting spirit (“ki energy” aka Hado).

But why every other true Shoto, even Gouken, has something to do with SnH… Just not Ken?

And about Charlie… I still ask myself what the power he wants to learn more is? It doesn’t look like Psycho Power as Udon said but not as SnH as well… Is it maybe Soul Power?

Ken ain’t trying to be in the warrior’s path. He’s other more important things to worry about like running a company and has a family.

Personally, I hope Ed doesn’t end up being a playable character.

I hope that when Bison ends up killed and Shadaloo dismantled at the end of this game, Ed just ends up being Bison’s next body. Which will explain why he’s not around during SF3. And when the next game comes out, taking place after SF3, the body will be mature enough for Bison to make his return in it.

Because the root of SnH is the desire to win at any cost, even if that cost means killing your opponent.

And that’s simply not a part of Ken’s personality. Ken loves fighting, and loves getting stronger. But he’s not obsessed with being the strongest. And he’s accepting of defeat. Because there are other things that are MORE important to him, like his family.

Contrast that to Ryu, Akuma and even Gouken. Their entire lives revolve around the fight. Akuma cares about nothing except being the strongest. Gouken has since learned to let that go, but Ryu still struggles with it.

I’m waiting for Sakura tapping into the SnH in the canon for reasons. She was already rumored but glad she isn’t it.

Some theories about Charlie?

Sorry for double post… But why you need Power of Nothgness to simply let it go… And hasn’t the SFIV movie hinted that Ken has the same power… Once against Viper and later by Ryu’s coment?

And why for example Gen hasn’t it or Sagat? Just because they aren’t Shotos? Gen still knows something about it after all

Simply put…Ken is a better student then Ryu. And…I know that sounds weird but it’s true. Ryu is on of those students that gets SUPER introspective and starts worrying over every little detail, obsessing over higher level things before he’s fully embraced the fundamentals. Ken has 100% absolutely embraced the fundamentals of Gouken’s teachings even if he maintains a casual attitude towards it. Remember, Ken was a friggin’ brat before going to see Gouken…and then martial arts refined him. From a young age, martial arts simply made Ken a better person and he’s maintained that attitude towards martial arts since. Why does he practice martial arts? To be the best HE can be. His rivalry with Ryu is one born on wanting to improve himself, not on defeating someone else because he takes his losses with grace and as a learning experience. When Ryu loses he ponders over it…when Ken loses, he smiles and says he’ll win Round 2.

In fact, I’d say Ken is the Gouken of his generation (the irony is in the name)…where-as Ryu is just a “better Gouki”. Gouken/Ken are never tempted by SnH because the desire to WIN is not a part of their make-up. It is not a driving force in how they approach combat. Being the best WARRIOR is immaterial to them…they’re all about being the best THEM and that is a core difference. Does Ken come off as brash and arrogant? Sure, but that’s his personality and how he presents himself when, realistically, he’s ALWAYS shown at his core to be a pretty damn humble dude with the proof being he doesn’t whine or bitch about his loses…he fully accepts them. He’s also fully able to embrace having a family despite the potential for that to hinder his martial arts training with the ironic part being that it actually helps his development as time goes on. Ryu though? He’s the path of the lone warrior…just like Gouki.

In fact, of the two students, Ken is also the one that seems to be on a path to develop his own methods, techniques and skills. He’s always the innovator with Ryu being the traditionalist. What was Gouken? An innovator. If things go the way they probably should, Ken should be the one devising entirely new methodologies for his art…and the ground work for this already exists…

I think even Nakahira portrays it this way. In Ryu Final, Ken is MUCH stronger than Ryu. Why? He’s found an entirely new method for focusing: fighting for his family. It is neither SnH, nor Mu…it’s truly Meritorious Ki. He isn’t focused on his opponent (SnH), he isn’t focused on himself (Psycho Power), and he isn’t divested of interest (Mu)…instead, he’s valiantly focused on winning for his family and those he loves…an entirely new approach. And the output in Ryu Final is amazing. Ryu can’t even touch Ken at this point. Family ties and love is a strength, and Ken has the ability to turn that into an IMMENSE strength.

That’s the direction Mr. Masters should go. As usual, Nakahira has it 100% right.

Vega probably just drops this entire thing, maybe tries to sell the SIN data to the highest bidder, make himself rich or some shit, enjoy life in a house full of mirrors

Balrog can’t get into boxing anymore since is permabanned so he’ll probably keep being the thug for hire, as Shadaloo isn’t the only criminalistic organization in the world

Sagat can finally erase all the memories and burn all the bridges that tie him with Shadaloo, continue living his peaceful life

The US Military probably once more becomes the biggest force in the world, now free from the governmental corruption under the influence of Shadaloo and its offerings

Chun’s father and Nash’s betrayal are avenged once and for all, both now can go on living, unless Charlie dies like a bitch he is

Guile will probably retire and go home to be a family man

Birdie will probably remain as Karin’s living exercise device, nigga found his heaven full of free food which is basically all what he needs right now

FANG will most likely either continue to work on his projects that he’ll keep to himself after the fall of Shadaloo since he won’t exactly have the equipment to work on them, or maybe attempt to resurrect the Nguuhao syndicate

Ed, if not captured/contaminated, will probably be targeted by Bison to move his soul into his body since they both possess Psycho Power, or by Illuminati to study him and use him for their own purposes (maybe that’s how Twelve/Necro projects come to be by SF3 era)

Cammy will finally save all the dolls (or they will tragically die and Cammy will have to make a sacrifice once more to forever rid the world of Shadaloo and its presence) and they will all live a happy fourteensome lesbian life in a house full of cats

Juri might find her place in the world after the destruction of Shadaloo since she won’t quite have a reason to follow the Dolls or Cammy anymore now that they aren’t useful to anyone and freed from their brainwashing. I’d assume she could join the Illuminati ranks. Imagine the Urien x Juri partnership/relationship! OOMPH!

Abel will finally find his answers as to how he was created and find a purpose in life, and being a part of the Hero team and knowing both Charlie AND Guile by now - maybe he’ll join the military ranks, don’t think he can live otherwise since he has no family at all

Viper will just be on her different mission now that she won’t have to investigate Shadaloo anymore, or maybe go back to watching after her daughter like a proper parent

Rolento’s army gets rid of basically their biggest rivals and maybe he will be preparing to create this utopia he’s constantly babbling about (wasn’t his plan to create some sort of a country or nation or something along the lines of?)

Everybody else in the cast don’t quite have any tie-ins to Shadaloo as we’ll be slowly moving into the Illuminati arc

But what about the movie? There it is hinted that he has ower of Nothingness.

The rest sounds good

Just some notes on the Lair of the 4 Kings stage. The map on the right side shows what I’m assuming is where the Bison balls are located, it shows four, one in the western U.S., one on the eastern U.S.(assuming this is the Metro City stage), one in the lower part of Mexico and one in Brazil(assuming this is Laura’s stage.)

Also one of the ninjas running around the one in red that starts gliding around has a strange ponytail that looks like tanuki tail, it looks brown with back stripes in it. Also, it’s neat she follows you, try moving from one side of the stage to another and she’ll float after you. Makes me think that all the ninjas running around are all Ibuki’s peeps since she has a pet tanuki.

Not sure what’s up with the mech suit dudes with UN on them.

Also, it’s sick as fuck that if Bison wins on his stage everyone stops what they’re doing and they salute him. Hail Lord Bison!
