Yea, FANG was definitely a highlight. Interesting backstory and I was expecting them to go with the obvious betrayal storyline, but it seems FANG is so impressed by Bison that he went full @Daemos for him.
It also gave us a little insight on Bison and how he views things with his kickass speech about power being the only thing keeping you alive.
The fact that he doesn’t care about loyalty is super interesting. The fact that he only rules because he’s the strongest, and he fully EXPECTS his minions to try and betray him if he gets too weak.
I remember back when SFxTK came out and some people complained that Bison would never team up with Juri because she only wanted to kill him, but this attitude of his totally shows why that could happen.
It makes me wish Juri would join Shadaloo. She’d want to join it for the opportunity to kill Bison, and Bison would want her to join because she’s strong and he doesn’t fear her inevitable betrayal.
I’m finally started playing Story mode. Is that it? Seriously? It’s not even an appetizer. It’s a glass of water I get before I start eating. I’ve only done Ryu, Ken, Dhalsim, Mika and Laura so far.
Ryu still going on about that boring ass SnH. Didn’t Gouken seal it in SFIV? I figured the reason why he’s there is because he got done sealing it. After the fight with Rashid it just jumps to random locations and opponents. It felt like I missed something important. The structure of his story is a mess.
I’m highly disappointed with Ken’s story. I genuinely want to know more about Ken’s family life. We got a glimpse of it in Ties That Bind and I wanted to see more of that. All I got was Ken longing for Ryu like he’s the love that got away. STFU about Ryu and enjoy the party with your family damn it!
I play Laura’s story for my Sean fix. Knowing how Laura is like has dropped her a couple of notches for me. I’m not a fan of female characters that act like a dumb blond. How is this person the more skilled older sibling of the excellent Sean?
Unimpressed with Mika. Cared little about her training journey with Gief. I did like the flashback to Alpha 3 and the argument she had with Ibuki at the end.
Dhalsim story actually made me a fan of his. Sim as a wise master willing to teach anyone his art as a means to spread harmony is cool. His meeting with Oro was equally as awesome. As noted before Oro’s english voice needs to die in a fire.
Well Karin just developed her skills to get to the point she is now, and matured and is no longer Dan-lite. I would call that development. Sure, she is a bit Mary Sue-ish but what you described is his she evolved to be. To make it clearer, there are people like Karin in real life…would you say they had no personality? No, because that is what their personality is. I understand your critique, but saying she is zero personality is a bit off.
Same here! I didn’t like Rashid when he was first revealed, but now he’s pretty cool to me.
So I was playing story mode and online matches, I noticed something. In Karin’s stage there’s a blonde woman in purple, when characters slam into the stage, the background people get scared, but she gets shocked but gets into a fighting stance. Other than the blonde females playable, does she fit any description? I can only think of Maki since Karin’s stage is in Japan and there’s a clan of ninjas, but I still don’tthink it’s her…
Another, in Rashid’s storymode, I just missed it, but one of the tweets said something about a thing with the face of an oni touched down in the sea. I gotta go back and check, but I never saw that in the pre-release footage. It was after I beat Birdie. Hmmm…
Lol aint he and Azam great? Aren’t you glad he’s not a villain like you originally wanted? Dude is one of my favorite newcomers since SF3! I can easily see him being a mainstay for the series from here on out. I like that he’s dashing, at times a bit dorky (the unease he had when facing uber-serious Ryu was great).
Other than being a perfect perfectionist…what is her character?
Also…she isn’t a person. It isn’t real. The fact that this is “how she developed” or that there might be real people like her does not excuse that she is now a bland, uninteresting character that is entirely 1-dimensional. Having her butler also constantly gasp about how amazing she is is also a very VERY annoying device. When it was Karin talking about herself that was far better because it showed that she was occasionally more interested in talking about how she fights so well at the expense of…fighting well. Instead, we get the cast around her talking about how amazing Wesley…er…sorry, Karin is. Dull.
And as far as people “in real life” like Karin? The only perfectionists I’ve met have universally had more to them than being perfectionists…and that perfectionism (like with Karin’s previous characterization) is a WEAKNESS of their character, not something that actually improves them.
Actually I still wouldn’t mind him as an equally dashing villain. I think I like Azam even more though…he’s just so bad ass! Great look, great personality and I could see him having a great fighting style. Let’s forget Hakan ever happened and get aboard the Azam-train now, Capcom!
