It was Capcomâs way of getting one last troll in towards Chun in story mode.
And if what Daemos says is true about the SIN data, Chun was even more useless in story mode. Why the hell didnât she do anything with the SIN data if it indeed played a role in PSA/Operation Chains? Sad treatment all around.
The SIN data tells them what SIN was upto. It doesnât tell them what Shadaloo planned to do with it.
Iâm also very suspicious of how everyone and their mother just knew where the Shadaloo HQ was and how they could just walk in whenever they pleased. SIN Data perhaps?
Also I really donât see the sad treatment you are talking about. The Ryu Hadouken scene was necessary to show just how far along Ryu has gotten at mastering his inner intent. It was the completely opposite of Evil Ryu in one shot.
Itâs sad because it makes Chun look like a joke, She needs to be rescued AGAIN. The story mode just treated her awful. The scene was nice for Ryu, but thatâs it. Capcom mustâve been high when they approved what Chun was going to do in story mode. Itâs clear that starting with SFIV, they view her as a âChina Dollâ imo.
Sadly, I agree with you on some level. Sheâs supposed to be Ellen Ripley, but we are getting a lot damsel in distress situations.
But you can see things on the flipside also my dear:
1- Before Juri fucked up Chun in SF4, Chun fought her to save the lives of others and succeeded.
2- In the SIN base, Chun was willing to die for the greater good and to ensure she gets the data that has the potential to save millions of lives. Yes she was rescued by Gen, but she saved others before she was saved.
3- In SF4, She got her ass handed to her by Bison, but this is normal. Accept his godhood. Chun herself admitted her mistake.
4- Chun was lagging behind because she put her life at risk once again to save another. Ryu saving Chun from the fire doesnât lessen her impact, these guys are a team. Cammy saved her from Bison previously did she not? Their sex shouldnât play a part into this.
So really, Chun-Li may not have the power of nothingness but her sense of justice, empathy, and her bravery in the face of odds far greater than her eclipses every other character in the series. She may look like a delicate flower, but make no mistake, she is made of steel.
I like how perceptive Ed was shown to be when it came to understanding Nash. He quickly realized that Nashâs resurrection was only temporary despite having **no **idea about the process.
His intuition, as shown when he could tell Gief had one of the pieces, is quite impressive.
I didnât mention sex so I donât know why you brought that up. Besides, Capcom doesnât have a problem displaying other females as strong and competent (Rose, Kolin, Juri C. iper etc.) Itâs specifically Chun and Cammy to a lesser extnet.
Like I said, those attributes you listed about Chun are nice and all, but it doesnât make up for her shit treatment. Itâs obvious Capcom does not want to see Chun as too hard, too strong, or whatever anymore. They want her delicate and weak. Theyâd NEVER give her the Karin treatment she got in SFV. She came off as too strong and competent.
Her trash treatment started in IV and it continues now. Her being saved by Gen, Abel and Guile was fucking awful. What made it worse was that she was fucking asleep like a 5 year old after being rescued. Thatâs what i mean when I say Capcom sees her as delicate and childlike. She literally looked like a fucking kid in her SF4 ending.
SSFIV, again, she has to get bodied by Juri.
SFV is her worst appearance to date. Took away her Bison feat and replaced it with Vega, which wouldâve been fine but then Capcom completely ignores it. The lesson she learned in in her SFV prologue was a good one, but still highlighted her incompetence which wasnât on display in her original SFA2 story really.
But this is whatâs sad about it. She learned that she canât be rash and rush into things in her SFV prologue, Then they proceed to make her do just that when she confronts Bison. it just makes her look stupid cause she clearly did not learn her lesson. Then of course Capcom has her get bodied by him and Rashid right after, has all her potential fights interrupted by other characters, and finally lets you play as her once(!) in the CSM! Itâs just crazy. And to top it all off, she was AGAIN about to be rash and fight Bison once Nash did his whatever to the character. They were about to make her look rash and foolish again! She plays no real role in Shadalooâs fall either. She literally puts a few chess pieces on a board which ends up being pointless, then walks around a base and fights a goon who was half dead. Clearly Urienâs quote to her in 3rd Strike has been all but retconned now.
But of course, she has to be saved again at the end. Itâs nice they showed her motherly side and all, but for me itâs negated by all her other horrible treatments. I dunno. Like I said, I donât know how ANYONE could say that they treated Chun right in the story mode. I couldnât have written a worse role for her. I donât need her super strong or Mary Sued, but what theyâve done to her is laughable. This is their premiere heroine and sheâs an absolute joke. But whatever. Whatâs done is done.
And yes, Ioriâs original look is a reference to rock-stars like David Bowie. In fact, probably Bowie in particular.
I mean look at this old-school Iori art. That is Bowie/Ziggy Stardust AS FUCK.
Here. Check this out.
If you pay attention, the visual âlineâ of Ziggyâs make-up follows the same exact impression as Ioriâs hair. Both are also red-heads. Both are also guitarists.
